1यरुशलेमला आल्यावर रहबामने 1,80,000 उत्तम योध्दे जमवले. यहूदा आणि बन्यामिन या घराण्यांमधून त्याने ही निवड केली. इस्राएलशी युध्द करुन स्वत:कडे राज्य खेचून आणण्यासाठी त्याने ही जमवाजमव केली.
1When Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
2पण परमेश्वराचा माणूस शमाया याच्याकडे परमेश्वराचा संदेश आला. परमेश्वर त्याला म्हणाला,
2But the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
3“शमाया, यहूदाचा राजा, शलमनपुत्र रहबाम याच्याशी तू बोल.तसेच यहूदा ?आणि बन्यामिन इथल्या इस्राएल लोकांशीही बोल. त्यांना म्हणावे.
3Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
4परमेश्वराचे म्हणणे असे आहे ‘आपल्या बांधवांशीच लढू नका. प्रत्येकाने घरी जावे. मीच हे सर्व व्हायला कारणीभूत आहे.”‘ तेव्हा राजा रहबाम आणि त्याचे सैन्य यांनी परमेश्वराचा संदेश मानला आणि ते परतले. यराबामवर त्यांनी हल्ला केला नाही.
4Thus says Yahweh, You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they listened to the words of Yahweh, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
5रहबाम यरुशलेममध्ये राहिला. हल्ल्यांचा प्रतिकार करायला सज्ज अशी भक्कम नगरे त्याने यहूदात उभाली.
5Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.
6बेथलेहेम, एटाम, तकोवा,
6He built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7बेथ - सूर, शोखे, अदुल्लाम,
7Beth Zur, and Soco, and Adullam,
8गथ, मारेशा, सीफ,
8and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9अदोरइम, लाखीश, अजेका,
9and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10सोरा, अयालोन व हेब्रोन या नगरांची डागडुजी केली. यहूदा आणि बन्यामिन मधली ही गावे चांगली भक्काम करण्यात आली.
10and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
11नगरे मजबूत झाल्यावर रहबामने त्यांच्यावर नायक नेमले. अन्नसामग्री, तेल, द्राक्षारस यांचा साठा त्याने तेथे केला.
11He fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine.
12प्रत्येक नगरात ढाली आणि भाले यांचा पुरवठा करुन गावे अधिकच मजबूत केली. यहूदा आणि बन्यामिन मधील ही नगरे आणि तेथील लोक यांना रहबामने आपल्या नियंत्रणाखाली ठेवले.
12In every city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong. Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
13समस्त इस्राएलमधील याजक आणि लेवी रहबामशी सहमत होते. ते त्याला येऊन मिळाले.
13The priests and the Levites who were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their border.
14लेवींनी आपली शेती आणि शिवारे सोडली आणि ते यहूदा व यरुशलेम येथे आले. परमेश्वराप्रीत्यर्थ याजकाचे काम करायला यराबाम आणि त्याचे मुलगे यांनी लेवींना प्रतिबंध केला म्हणून ते आले.
14For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest's office to Yahweh;
15यराबामने बोकड आणि वासरे यांच्या मूर्ती उच्चस्थानी स्थापन केल्या आणि त्यांच्या पूजेसाठी आपले याजक निवडले.
15and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the male goats, and for the calves which he had made.
16इस्राएलच्या सर्व वंशातील जे लोक इस्राएलचा देव परमेश्वर याच्याशी एकनिष्ठ होते ते ही, लेवींनी इस्राएल सोडल्यावर, परमेश्वराला यज्ञार्पणे करण्यासाठी यरुशलेमला आले.
16After them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
17त्यामुळे यहूदाचे राज्य बलकट झाले. त्यांनी शलमोनाचा पुत्र रहबाम याला तीन वर्षे पाठिंबा दिला. या काळात त्यांनी दावीद आणि शलमोन यांच्यासारखेच आचरण ठेवले.
17So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.
18रहबामने महलथशी विवाहा केला. तिचे वडील यरीमोथ आणि तिची आई अबीहईल. यरीमोथ हा दावीदाचा मुलगा. अबीहईल अलीयाबची मुलगी आणि अलीयाब हा इशायचा मुलगा.
18Rehoboam took him a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
19महलथापासून रहबामला यऊश, शमऱ्या आणि जाहम हे मुलगे झाले.
19and she bore him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
20मग रहबामने माकाशी विवाह केला. माका ही अबशालोमची नात. माकाला रहबामपासून अबीया, अत्थय, जीजा आणि शलोमीथ ही मुले झाली.
20After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21रहबामचे आपल्या इतर पत्नी आणि उपपत्नी यांच्यापेक्षा माकावर अधिक प्रेम होते. माका अबशालोमची नात. रहबामला अठरा पत्नी आणि साठ उपपत्नी होत्या. त्याला अठ्ठावीस मुलगे आणि साठ मुली होत्या.
21Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and sixty concubines, and became the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.)
22अबीयाला रहबामने सर्व भावडांमध्ये अग्रक्रम दिला. कारण त्याला राजा करावे असा त्याचा मानस होता.
22Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, even the prince among his brothers; for he was minded to make him king.
23रहबामने मोठ्या चतुराईने आपल्या सर्व मुलांना यहूदा आणि बन्यामिनमधील नगरांमध्ये विखरुन ठेवले. त्यांना उत्तम रसद पुरवली. त्यांची लगे लावून दिली.
23He dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to every fortified city: and he gave them food in abundance. He sought for them many wives.
