1मंदिर आणि आपले घर बांधायला शलमोनाला वीस वर्षे लागली.
1It happened at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the house of Yahweh, and his own house,
2मग हिरामने दिलेली नगरे शलमोनाने वसवली. त्या नगरांमध्ये काही इस्राएल लोकांना वसती करण्यास मुभा दिली.
2that the cities which Huram had given to Solomon, Solomon built them, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.
3पुढे शलमोनाने हमाथ सोबा हे नगर जिंकून घेतले.
3Solomon went to Hamath-zobah, and prevailed against it.
4वाळवंटातील तमदोर हे नगरही त्याने वसवले. कोठारांसाठी म्हणून त्याने हमाथमधली नगरे बांधली.
4He built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the store-cities, which he built in Hamath.
5वरचे बेथ - होरोन आणि खालचे बेथ - होरोन यांची उभारणीही शलमोनाने केली. ती त्याने भक्कम तटबंदीची नगरे केली. त्यांना मजबूत कोट, वेशी आणि अडसर करवले.
5Also he built Beth Horon the upper, and Beth Horon the lower, fortified cities, with walls, gates, and bars;
6बालाथ आणि अन्य कोठारे असलेली गावे यांची शलमोनाने पुनर्रचना केली. रथ ठेवण्यासाठी तसेच घोडेस्वारांच्या वस्तीसाठीही त्याने गावे वसवली. यरुशलेम, लबानोनसकट आपल्या आधिपत्याखालील सर्व प्रदेशात शलमोनाने आपल्या गरजेनुसार बांधकामे केली.
6and Baalath, and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and all the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.
7इस्राएल लोक राहात असलेल्या प्रदेशात अनेक परकी लोकही होते. ते म्हणजे हित्ती, अमोरी, परिज्जी, हिव्वी आणि यबूसी. त्यांना शलमोनाने वेठबिगार केले. हे लोक मूळचे इस्राएल नव्हते. या प्रदेशात राहून गेलेल्या लोकांचे ते वंशज होते आणि इस्राएल लोकांनी त्यांना अजून नष्ट केले नव्हते. ते अजूनही आहेत.
7As for all the people who were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of Israel;

8of their children who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel didn't consume, of them did Solomon raise a levy of bondservants to this day.
9इस्राएल लोकांपैकी कोणालाही शलमोनाने वेठबिगारीसाठी सक्ती केली नाही. ते त्याचे योध्दे होते. ते सैन्याधिकारी, रथाधिपती, स्वारांचे अधिकारी असे होते.
9But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.
10काही इस्राएलीजण तर शलमोनाच्या अधिकाऱ्यांवर अंमल गाजवणारे होते. असे प्रमुख अधिकारी 250 होते.
10These were the chief officers of king Solomon, even two hundred fifty, who ruled over the people.
11शलमोनाने फारोच्या मुलीला, तिच्यासाठी बांधलेल्या महालात दावीद नगराहून आणले. शलमोन म्हणाला, “ज्या ज्या ठिकाणी परमेश्वराचा करारकोश ठेवण्यात आला, ती सर्व स्थाने पवित्र आहेत. तेव्हा माझ्या बायकोने दावीद नगरात राहू नेये.”
11Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David to the house that he had built for her; for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of Yahweh has come.
12मग शलमोनाने वेदीवर परमेश्वराला होमार्पणे वाहिली. मंदिराच्या प्रवेशमंडपासमोरच शलमोनाने ती वेदी बांधली होती.
12Then Solomon offered burnt-offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh, which he had built before the porch,
13मोशेच्या आज्ञेप्रमाणे शलमोन रोज होमार्पणे करी. शब्बाथच्या दिवशी, नवचंद्र दर्शनीला, वर्षभरातल्या तीन सणांना होमार्पणे करायची असत. बेखमीर भाकरीचा सण, सप्ताहांचा सण, आणि मंडपांचा सण हे तीन वार्षिक सण होत.
13even as the duty of every day required, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tents.
14आपल्या वडलांच्या सूचना शलमोनाने तंतोतंत पाळल्या. परमेश्वराच्या सेवेसाठी त्याने याजकवर्गाच्या नेमणुका केल्या. लेवीना त्यांची कामे पार पाडायला नेमले. स्तुतिगीते म्हणणे आणि मंदिराच्या चाकरीतील रोजची सेवाकार्ये बजावण्यात याजकांना मदत करणे ही लेवींची कामे होती. याखेरीज शलमोनाने प्रत्येक प्रवेशद्वाराशी द्वारपालांच्या गटांच्या नेमणुका केल्या. परमेश्वराला मानणाऱ्या दावीदाने अशाच सूचना दिल्या होत्या.
14He appointed, according to the ordinance of David his father, the divisions of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their offices, to praise, and to minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required; the doorkeepers also by their divisions at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.
15याजक आणि लेवी यांना शलमोनाने ज्या सूचना दिल्या त्यात इस्राएल लोकांनी बदल केला नाही की आज्ञाभंग केला नाही. मौल्यवान वस्तू जतन करण्याविषयीच्या आज्ञांचाही त्यांनी बदल केला नाही.
15They didn't depart from the commandment of the king to the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.
16शलमोनाची सगळी कामे सिध्दीला गेली. मंदिराच्या कामाला सुरुवात केल्यापासून ते संपेपर्यंत त्यांचे व्यवस्थित नियोजन केले होते. अशा रीतीने मंदिराचे काम तडीला गेले.
16Now all the work of Solomon was prepared to the day of the foundation of the house of Yahweh, and until it was finished. So the house of Yahweh was completed.
17यानंतर शलमोन लाल समुद्रानजीकच्या अदोम देशातील एस्योन - गेबेर आणि एलोथ या नगरांना गेला.
17Then went Solomon to Ezion Geber, and to Eloth, on the seashore in the land of Edom.
18हिरामने त्याच्याकडे आपली गलबते पाठवली. समुद्रपर्यटनात दरबेज अशा हिरामच्या सेवकांनीच ती नेली. शलमोनाच्या चाकरीतील लोकांबरोबर हे सेवक ओफिर येथे गेले आणि तेथून 17 टन सोने आणून त्यांनी ते शलमोनाला दिले.
18Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants who had knowledge of the sea; and they came with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and fetched from there four hundred fifty talents of gold, and brought them to king Solomon.
