1ಕರ್ತನು ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವವರು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಕಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಕರ್ತನು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡದೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವವನು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಎಚ್ಚರ ವಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ.
1A Song of Ascents. By Solomon. Unless Yahweh builds the house, They labor in vain who build it. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, The watchman guards it in vain.
2ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಾಗಿ ವ್ಯಥೆಪಟ್ಟು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಬೇಗ ಏಳುವದೂ ರಾತ್ರಿ ತಡವಾಗಿ ಮಲಗುವದೂ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೇ. ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯರಿಗೆ ನಿದ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
2It is vain for you to rise up early, To stay up late, Eating the bread of toil; For he gives sleep to his loved ones.
3ಇಗೋ, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಸ್ವಾಸ್ಥ್ಯವಾಗಿ ದ್ದಾರೆ; ಗರ್ಭಫಲವು ಆತನ ಬಹುಮಾನವಾಗಿದೆ.
3Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward.
4ಯೌವನದ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಣಗಳು ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ.ತನ್ನ ಬತ್ತಳಿಕೆ ಯನ್ನು ಅವರಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿದ ಪುರುಷನು ಧನ್ಯನು; ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾಗಲಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವರು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಡರು.
4As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the children of youth.
5ತನ್ನ ಬತ್ತಳಿಕೆ ಯನ್ನು ಅವರಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿದ ಪುರುಷನು ಧನ್ಯನು; ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾಗಲಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವರು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಡರು.
5Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They won't be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
