ಅರಾಮಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ತನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೂಡಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನ ಬಳಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕುದುರೆಗಳೂ ರಥಗಳೂ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಮೂವತ್ತೆರಡು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಸುಗಳಿದ್ದರು. ಅವನು ಏರಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಸಮಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದನು.

Ben Hadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together; and there were thirty-two kings with him, and horses and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and fought against it.

ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಹಾಬನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಪಟ್ಟಣ ದೊಳಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ--ನಿನ್ನ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಂಗಾರವೂ ನನ್ನವು;

He sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel, into the city, and said to him, Thus says Ben Hadad,
3
ನಿನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯರೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯರಾದ ವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನನ್ನವರೆಂದು ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾ ನೆಂಬದಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.

Your silver and your gold is mine; your wives also and your children, even the best, are mine.
4
ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಪ್ರತ್ತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆ ಯನೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಾತಿನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನವನು; ನನ್ನದೆಲ್ಲವೂ ನಿನ್ನದು ಅಂದನು.

The king of Israel answered, It is according to your saying, my lord, O king; I am yours, and all that I have.
5
ಆ ದೂತರು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಹೇಳುವ ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನಿನ್ನ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನೂ ಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ನನಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದೆನು.

The messengers came again, and said, Thus speaks Ben Hadad, saying, I sent indeed to you, saying, You shall deliver me your silver, and your gold, and your wives, and your children;
6
ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ನಾಳೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುವೆನು; ಅವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಮನೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಶೋಧಿಸಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ರಮ್ಯ ವಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವರು ಅಂದನು.

but I will send my servants to you tomorrow about this time, and they shall search your house, and the houses of your servants; and it shall be, that whatever is pleasant in your eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.

ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ದೇಶದ ಹಿರಿಯರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕರೆಯಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆಇವನು ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ತಿಳುಕೊಂಡು ನೋಡಿರಿ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಗೋ ಸ್ಕರವೂ ನನ್ನ ಬಂಗಾರಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಾಗ ನಾನು ಕೊಡುವದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.

Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Please notice how this man seeks mischief: for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I didn't deny him.

ಆಗ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ಜನರೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಅವನ ಮಾತು ಕೇಳದೆ ಒಪ್ಪದೆ ಇರು ಅಂದರು.? ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಬೆನ್ಹದದನ ದೂತ ರಿಗೆ--

All the elders and all the people said to him, Don't you listen, neither consent.
9
ನೀವು ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ, ನೀನು ಮೊದಲು ಹೇಳಿದ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುವೆನು; ಆದರೆ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಮಾಡಕೂಡದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ದೂತರು ಹೋಗಿ ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

Therefore he said to the messengers of Ben Hadad, Tell my lord the king, All that you did send for to your servant at the first I will do; but this thing I may not do. The messengers departed, and brought him word again.

ಆಗ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ--ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುವ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜನರು ಕೈತುಂಬ ತಕ್ಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಮಾರ್ಯದ ಧೂಳು ಸಾಕಾದರೆ ದೇವರುಗಳು ನನಗೆ ಹೀಗೆಯೂ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿಯೂ ಮಾಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

Ben Hadad sent to him, and said, The gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people who follow me.

ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಪ್ರತ್ತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ನಡುಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಬಿಚ್ಚಿ ಹಾಕುವವನ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳದಿರಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳು ಅಂದನು.

The king of Israel answered, Tell him, Don't let him who girds on his armor boast himself as he who puts it off.
12
ಅವನೂ ರಾಜರೂ ಅವನ ಜೊತೆ ಡೇರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತಿರಲು ಈ ವಾರ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಲೇ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ--ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದರು.

It happened, when Ben Hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings, in the pavilions, that he said to his servants, Set yourselves in array. They set themselves in array against the city.

ಆಗ ಇಗೋ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಹಾಬನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು--ಈ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗುಂಪನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಿಯೋ? ಇಗೋ, ನಾನೇ ಕರ್ತನೆಂದು ನೀನು ತಿಳಿಯುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಅದನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವೆನೆಂದು ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ ಅಂದನು.

Behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel, and said, Thus says Yahweh, Have you seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into your hand this day; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.
14
ಅಹಾಬನು--ಯಾರ ಕೈ ಯಿಂದ ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕವನು ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳ ಪ್ರಧಾ ನರ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರಿಂದಲೇ ಎಂದು ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳು ತ್ತಾನೆ ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು--ಯುದ್ಧ ನಡಿಸುವವನು ಯಾರು ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕವನು--ನೀನೇ ಅಂದನು.

Ahab said, By whom? He said, Thus says Yahweh, By the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall begin the battle? He answered, You.

ಅವನು ಪ್ರಾಂತಗಳ ಪ್ರಧಾನರ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಅವರು ಇನ್ನೂರ ಮೂವತ್ತೆರಡು ಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ತರುವಾಯ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದ ಸಕಲ ಜನರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಏಳು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

Then he mustered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty-two: and after them he mustered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.
16
ಅವರು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಟರು; ಆದರೆ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನೂ ಅವನ ಸಹಾಯ ಕರಾದ ಮೂವತ್ತೆರಡು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಸುಗಳೂ ಕೂಡ ಡೇರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮಲೇರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು.

They went out at noon. But Ben Hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings who helped him.
17
ಪ್ರಾಂತಗಳ ಪ್ರಧಾನರ ಸೇವಕರು ಮೊದಲು ಸೈನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಡುವಾಗ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವರು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಬಂದು --ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

The young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben Hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out from Samaria.
18
ಆಗ ಅವನು--ಅವರು ಸಮಾಧಾನಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಜೀವಿತರಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿಯಿರಿ; ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಜೀವಿತರಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿಯಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.

He said, Whether they are come out for peace, take them alive, or whether they are come out for war, taken them alive.
19
ಪ್ರಾಂತಗಳ ಪ್ರಧಾನರ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥರೂ ಅವರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಂದ ಸೈನಿಕರೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಪ್ರತಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತನಗೆ ಎದುರು ಬಿದ್ದವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು.

So these went out of the city, the young men of the princes of the provinces, and the army which followed them.
20
ಆಗ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ಓಡಿಹೋದರು; ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದರು; ಅರಾಮಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಕುದುರೆ ಹತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಕುದುರೆ ರಾಹುತರ ಸಂಗಡ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.

They killed everyone his man; and the Syrians fled, and Israel pursued them: and Ben Hadad the king of Syria escaped on a horse with horsemen.
21
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಹೊರಟು ಕುದುರೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ರಥಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹೊಡೆದು ರಾಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಮಹಾ ಸಂಹಾರದಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

The king of Israel went out, and struck the horses and chariots, and killed the Syrians with a great slaughter.
22
ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ಬಲಗೊಂಡು ನೀನು ಮಾಡುವದನ್ನು ತಿಳುಕೊಂಡು ನೋಡು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ವರುಷಾಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಾಮಿನ ಅರಸನು ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಬರುವನು ಅಂದನು.

The prophet came near to the king of Israel, and said to him, Go, strengthen yourself, and mark, and see what you do; for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against you.

ಆದರೆ ಅರಾಮಿನ ಅರಸನ ಸೇವಕರು ಅವ ನಿಗೆ--ಅವರ ದೇವರುಗಳು ಪರ್ವತಗಳ ದೇವರು ಗಳು, ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸಿದರು; ನಾವು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಸಮಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡೋಣ; ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ನಾವು ಅವರಿಗಿಂತ ಬಲ ಶಾಲಿಗಳಾಗಿರುವೆವು.

The servants of the king of Syria said to him, Their god is a god of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we: but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.
24
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನೀನು ಮಾಡ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ -- ಅರಸುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಿ ನೀನು ಕಳಕೊಂಡ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕುದುರೆಗೆ ಕುದುರೆಯೂ ರಥಕ್ಕೆ ರಥವೂ ಬೇರೆ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸು;

Do this thing: take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their room;
25
ಆಗ ನಾವು ಸಮಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡೋಣ; ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ನಾವು ಅವರಿಗಿಂತ ಬಲ ಶಾಲಿಗಳಾಗುವೆವು ಅಂದರು. ಅವನು ಅವರ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

and number you an army, like the army that you have lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot; and we will fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. He listened to their voice, and did so.

ವರುಷಾಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾಯಿತಂದರೆ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಅರಾಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಲು ಅಫೇಕಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.

It happened at the return of the year, that Ben Hadad mustered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel.
27
ಆದದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವರಿಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ದಂಡಿಳಿದಿರುವಾಗ ಅವರು ಮೇಕೆ ಮರಿಗಳ ಎರಡು ಮಂದೆಗಳ ಹಾಗಿದ್ದರು; ಆದರೆ ಅರಾಮ್ಯರು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.

The children of Israel were mustered, and were provisioned, and went against them: and the children of Israel encamped before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.
28
ಆಗ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೊಬ್ಬನು ಬಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ--ಕರ್ತನು ತಗ್ಗುಗಳ ದೇವರಾ ಗಿರದೆ ಪರ್ವತಗಳ ದೇವರಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬದಾಗಿ ಅರಾ ಮ್ಯರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಕರ್ತನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ನೀವು ತಿಳಿಯುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಮೂಹವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವೆನೆಂದು ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ ಅಂದನು.

A man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, Thus says Yahweh, Because the Syrians have said, Yahweh is a god of the hills, but he is not a god of the valleys; therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

ಏಳು ದಿವಸ ಇವರು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ದಂಡಿಳಿದಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೇ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಕೂಡಿದಾಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅರಾಮ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಕ್ಷ ಕಾಲ್ಬಲವನ್ನು ಒಂದೇ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದರು.

They encamped one over against the other seven days. So it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined; and the children of Israel killed of the Syrians one hundred thousand footmen in one day.

ಮಿಕ್ಕಾದವರು ಅಫೇಕ್‌ ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗೆ ಓಡಿ ಹೋದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಗೋಡೆಯು ಉಳಿದ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಬಂದು ಕೊಠಡಿಯ ಒಳ ಕೊಠಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡನು.

But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and the wall fell on twenty-seven thousand men who were left. Ben Hadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber.
31
ಆಗ ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರು ಅವನಿಗೆ -- ಇಗೋ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮನೆಯ ಅರಸುಗಳು ಕರುಣೆಯುಳ್ಳವರೆಂದು ನಾವು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದೇವೆ; ನಾವು ಗೋಣಿಯನ್ನು ನಡುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಹಗ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ; ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಅವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವನು ಅಂದರು.

His servants said to him, See now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings: let us, we pray you, put sackcloth on our loins, and ropes on our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: peradventure he will save your life.

ಹಾಗೆಯೆ ಅವರು ಗೋಣಿಯನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ನಡುವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು ಹಗ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆ ಗಳಿಗೆ ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು--ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಬದುಕಲೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ ಅಂದರು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನುಅವನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಬದುಕಿರುತ್ತಾನೋ? ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನು ಅಂದನು.

So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Your servant Ben Hadad says, please let me live. He said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.

ಈಗ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಅವನ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾದರೂ ಬಂದೀತೆಂದು ಜಾಗ್ರೆತೆ ಯಿಂದ ನೋಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅದನ್ನು ಅವಸರದಿಂದ ಹಿಡಿದರು. ಅವರು--ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಬೆನ್ಹದ ದನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಆಗ ಅವನು--ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆತನ್ನಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನು ಇವನನ್ನು ರಥದ ಲ್ಲೇರ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

Now the men observed diligently, and hurried to catch whether it were his mind; and they said, Your brother Ben Hadad. Then he said, Go you , bring him. Then Ben Hadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.

ಬೆನ್ಹದದನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಗಳನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ಸಮಾರ್ಯ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಮಸ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ನಿನ ಗಾಗಿ ಬೀದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕ ವನು--ಈ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳು ಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು. ಹೀಗೆಯೆ ಇವನು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

Ben Hadad said to him, The cities which my father took from your father I will restore; and you shall make streets for you in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. I, said Ahab, will let you go with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and let him go.
35
ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಕರ್ತನ ಮಾತಿನಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಗಾರನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ದಯ ಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆ ಅಂದನು.

A certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow by the word of Yahweh, Please strike me. The man refused to strike him.
36
ಆದರೆ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯಲ್ಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದ್ದನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ಇವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಕರ್ತನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಅವಿಧೇಯನಾದದರಿಂದ ಇಗೋ, ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ಸಿಂಹವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲು ವದು ಅಂದನು. ಅವನು ಇವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋದಾ ಗಲೆ ಸಿಂಹವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿತು.

Then said he to him, Because you have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh, behold, as soon as you are departed from me, a lion shall kill you. As soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and killed him.
37
ಅವನು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡು--ದಯ ಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆ ಅಂದನು. ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಗಾಯವಾಗುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೊಡೆದನು.

Then he found another man, and said, Please strike me. The man struck him, smiting and wounding him.

ಆಗ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಮುಖದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೂದಿ ಯನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಮುಖ ಮರೆಮಾಡಿ ಅರಸನಿ ಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು.

So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with his headband over his eyes.
39
ಅರ ಸನು ಹಾದು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಇವನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿರುವಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ತೊಲಗಿ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು--ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕಾಯಿ; ಇವನು ಹೇಗಾದರೂ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ಅವನ ಪ್ರಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬದ ಲಾಗಿರುವುದು; ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ನೀನು ಒಂದು ತಲಾಂತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.

As the king passed by, he cried to the king; and he said, Your servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man to me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall your life be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.
40
ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅವನು ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋದನು ಅಂದನು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರ ಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನಿನ್ನ ತೀರ್ಪಿನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಆಗು ವದು; ನೀನೇ ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಿದಿ ಅಂದನು.

As your servant was busy here and there, he was gone. The king of Israel said to him, So shall your judgment be; yourself have decided it.
41
ಆಗ ಅವನು ಶೀಘ್ರವಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರುವ ಬೂದಿಯನ್ನು ಒರಸಿ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಅವನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನೆಂದು ತಿಳು ಕೊಂಡನು.

He hurried, and took the headband away from his eyes; and the king of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets.
42
ಇವನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುವ ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನಾನು ಪೂರ್ಣನಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಮನು ಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ನೀನು ಕೈಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಗೊಡಿಸಿದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವನ ಪ್ರಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವೂ ಅವನ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನವೂ ಹೋಗುವದು ಅಂದನು.ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ವ್ಯಸನ ದಿಂದಲೂ ಕೋಪದಿಂದಲೂ ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದನು.

He said to him, Thus says Yahweh, Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.
43
ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ವ್ಯಸನ ದಿಂದಲೂ ಕೋಪದಿಂದಲೂ ಸಮಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದನು.

The king of Israel went to his house sullen and angry, and came to Samaria.
