ઘોડેસવાર અને બાણાવળીનું નામ સાંભળતાં જ સમગ્ર દેશ નાસભાગ કરે છે. કેટલાક ઝાડીમાં ભરાઇ જાય છે, કેટલાક ડુંગરો પર ચઢી જાય છે. એકેએક શહેર સૂનું થઇ જાય છે, કોઇ ત્યાં રહેતું નથી.

Every city flees for the noise of the horsemen and archers; they go into the thickets, and climb up on the rocks: every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells therein.
