1યહોવા કહે છે, “હે ઇસ્રાએલ, જો તારે પાછા આવવું હોય તો તું મારી પાસે જ પાછો આવ, તારી ઘૃણાસ્પદ મૂર્તિઓ ફગાવી દે અને ફરીથી ખોટે માગેર્ જતો નહિ
1If you will return, Israel, says Yahweh, if you will return to me, and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight; then you shall not be removed;
2અને જો તું સત્યથી, ન્યાયથી તથા નીતિથી, ‘યહોવા જીવે છે’ એવા સોગંદ ખાઇશ; તો સર્વ પ્રજાઓ તેનામાં પોતાને આશીર્વાદિત કહેશે, તથા તેનામાં અભિમાન કરશે.”
2and you shall swear, As Yahweh lives, in truth, in justice, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
3યહૂદિયાના લોકોને અને યરૂશાલેમના વતનીઓને યહોવા આ પ્રમાણે કહે છે,“તમારાં વણખેડેલા ખેતર ખેડી નાખો, તમારાં બીજ કાંટા ઝાંખરા વચ્ચે વાવશો નહિ;
3For thus says Yahweh to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and don't sow among thorns.
4યહોવાનું શરણું સ્વીકારો, તમારાં હૃદયનો મેલ ધોઇ નાખો, રખેને તમારા દુષ્કૃત્યોને કારણે મારો રોષ અગ્નિની જેમ ભભૂકી ઊઠે અને ઠાર્યો ઠરે જ નહિ અને ભડભડતો જ રહે.”
4Circumcise yourselves to Yahweh, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
5“યરૂશાલેમમાં અને સર્વ યહૂદિયામાં પોકારીને કહો કે, આખા દેશમાં ભય દર્શાવતું રણશિંગડું વગાડો. ‘તમારા જીવ બચાવવાને દોડો! કિલ્લેબંધ નગરોમાં નાસી જાઓ!’
5Declare you in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow you the trumpet in the land: cry aloud and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities.
6સંકેત ધ્વજ ઊંચો કરો, ‘સિયોન ને’ “હમણાં જ ભાગી જાઓ. વિલંબ કરશો નહિ!” કારણ કે હું યહોવા ઉત્તર તરફથી તમારા પર ભયંકર વિનાશ લાવું છું.”
6Set up a standard toward Zion: flee for safety, don't stay; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
7“સિંહ” પોતાની ઝાડીમાંથી ચઢી આવ્યો છે; તે તો પ્રજાઓનો વિનાશક છે; તારા દેશને ઉજ્જડ કરવા માટે તે પોતાના રહેઠાણમાંથી બહાર નીકળ્યો છે; તારાં નગરો એવાં ઉજ્જડ થશે કે, તેઓમાં કોઇ રહેવાસી જોવામાં આવશે નહિ,
7A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.
8માટે શોકનાં વસ્ત્રો ધારણ કરો, છાતી કૂટો અને વિલાપ કરો, કારણ, યહોવાનો ઉગ્ર ક્રોધ હજુ શાંત પડ્યો નથી.”
8For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and wail; for the fierce anger of Yahweh hasn't turned back from us.
9યહોવાએ કહ્યું, “તે દિવસે રાજાઓ અને સરદારો ભયને લીધે કાંપશે, યાજકોને તથા પ્રબોધકોને ભયને કારણે ભારે આઘાત લાગશે.”
9It shall happen at that day, says Yahweh, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
10ત્યારે હું બોલ્યો, “આહા, પ્રભુ યહોવા, તેં અમને અને યરૂશાલેમના સર્વ લોકોને પૂર્ણપણે છેતર્યા છે તેઁ તેઓને કહ્યું, ‘તમે શાંતિ પામશો.’ પણ તમાર માથા પર તો તરવાર લટકી રહી છે.”
10Then said I, Ah, Lord Yahweh! surely you have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, You shall have peace; whereas the sword reaches to the life.
11“તે સમય આવી રહ્યો છે, જ્યારે યરૂશાલેમના લોકોને કહેવામાં આવશે કે, અરણ્ય તરફથી તેઓના પર બાળી નાખે તેવા પવનો આવે છે. તે તો ઉપણવાના કે સ્વચ્છ કરવાના ઉપયોગમાં આવે તેવો હશે નહિ.
11At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A hot wind from the bare heights in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to winnow, nor to cleanse;
12મારી તરફથી ખૂબ શકિતશાળી પવન તમારી તરફ દોડયો આવશે. હવે હું તમારી વિરુદ્ધ મારો ચુકાદો જણાવીશ.”
12a full wind from these shall come for me: now will I also utter judgments against them.
13જુઓ, તોફાની પવનની જેમ લશ્કર અમારા પર ચઢી આવશે. તેના રથો વાવાઝોડાની જેમ ઘસતા આવે છે, તેના ઘોડા ગરૂડ કરતાં પણ વેગીલા છે. ઓહ! ખરેખર અમે ખલાસ થઇ ગયા.
13Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as the whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! for we are ruined.
14હે યરૂશાલેમ, તારા અંતરમાંથી પાપને ધોઇ નાખે, તો કદાચ તું બચી જાય, તું ક્યાં સુધી તારા અંતરમાં પાપી વિચારો સંઘર્યા કરીશ?
14Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, that you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you?
15કારણકે દાનથી અને એફ્રાઇમના પર્વતો પરથી તમારા માટેના ચુકાદાની જાહેરાત થઇ ચૂકી છે.
15For a voice declares from Dan, and publishes evil from the hills of Ephraim:
16“અન્ય લોકોને જાણ કરો, યરૂશાલેમમાં દાંડી પિટાવો. યહૂદિયાના નગરો સામે યુદ્ધનાદો કરતા દૂરના દેશથી દુશ્મનો આવે છે.
16make you mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
17જંગલી પ્રાણીની આસપાસ ભરવાડો ફરી વળે તે પ્રમાણે તેઓ યરૂશાલેમને ઘેરી લે છે; કારણ કે તેના લોકોએ યહોવા વિરુદ્ધ બંડ પોકાર્યું છે.” યહોવા આ વચનો કહે છે.
17As keepers of a field are they against her round about, because she has been rebellious against me, says Yahweh.
18“હે યરૂશાલેમ તારાં પોતાનાં વર્તન અને કાર્યોને કારણે, તેં મારી વિરુદ્ધ બળવો કર્યો છે. માટે આ બધું તારા પર વિત્યું છે. આ તારી સજા છે! કેવી આકરી: તારા હૃદયને એ કેવું વીંધી નાખે છે!”
18Your way and your doings have procured these things to you; this is your wickedness; for it is bitter, for it reaches to your heart.
19અરે! ઓહ! માંરુ અંતર કેવું વલોવાય છે! મારી છાતી કેવી ધડકે છે! હું શાંત રહી શકતો નથી, કારણ મેં રણશિંગડાનો ધ્વનિ સાંભળ્યો છે.
19My anguish, my anguish! I am pained at my very heart; my heart is disquieted in me; I can't hold my peace; because you have heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
20સંકટ પર સંકટ આવે છે, દેશ આખો ખેદાન મેદાન થઇ ગયો છે, મારા તંબુઓ એકાએક ઢળી પડ્યા છે. તેના પડદાઓના લીરા ઊડે છે.
20Destruction on destruction is cried; for the whole land is laid waste: suddenly are my tents destroyed, and my curtains in a moment.
21મારે ક્યાં સુધી રણધ્વજ જોવો અને રણશિંગડાનો નાદ સાંભળવો?
21How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
22દેવ કહે છે, “જ્યાં સુધી મારા લોકો મૂર્ખતા ન છોડે ત્યાં સુધી, કારણ, મારા લોકો મૂરખ છે, તેઓ મને ઓળખતા નથી; એ લોકો નાદાન બાળકો છે. એમને કશી સમજ નથી. એ લોકો ભૂંડુ કરવામાં ઘણાં ચાલાક છે, પરંતુ સાચું આચરણ કરતાં એમને આવડતું નથી.”
22For my people are foolish, they don't know me; they are foolish children, and they have no understanding; they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
23મેં તેઓના દેશ પર ચારે દિશાઓમાં જ્યાં સુધી નજર પહોંચે ત્યાં સુધી ષ્ટિ કરી. સર્વત્ર વિનાશ વેરાયેલો હતો. આકાશો પણ અંધકારમય હતા.
23I saw the earth, and, behold, it was waste and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
24મેં પર્વતો તરફ જોયું, તો તે ધ્રૂજતા હતા. બધા ડુંગરો ડોલતા હતા.
24I saw the mountains, and, behold, they trembled, and all the hills moved back and forth.
25મેં ષ્ટિ કરી, તો કોઇ મનુષ્ય દેખાયું નહોતું. આકાશનાં પંખીઓ સુદ્ધાં ઊડી ગયા હતા.
25I saw, and, behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the sky were fled.
26મેં જોયું, તો ખેતરો વેરાન થઇ ગયાં હતાં, બધાં નગરો ભોંયભેગા થઇ ગયા હતાં, કારણ, યહોવા રોષે ભરાયા હતા.
26I saw, and, behold, the fruitful field was a wilderness, and all the cities of it were broken down at the presence of Yahweh, and before his fierce anger.
27કારણ કે યહોવાએ કહ્યું હતું કે, “આખા દેશનો વિનાશ થઇ જશે, પણ હું તેનો સંપૂર્ણ નાશ નહિ કરું.
27For thus says Yahweh, The whole land shall be a desolation; yet will I not make a full end.
28સમગ્ર પૃથ્વી ચિંતા કરશે અને આકાશ અંધકારમય બની જશે. કારણ, યહોવા બોલી ચૂક્યો છે અને તેનો વિચાર તે બદલનાર નથી, તેણે નિર્ણય કર્યો છે અને તેમાંથી ડગનાર નથી.”
28For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and I have not repented, neither will I turn back from it.
29ઘોડેસવાર અને બાણાવળીનું નામ સાંભળતાં જ સમગ્ર દેશ નાસભાગ કરે છે. કેટલાક ઝાડીમાં ભરાઇ જાય છે, કેટલાક ડુંગરો પર ચઢી જાય છે. એકેએક શહેર સૂનું થઇ જાય છે, કોઇ ત્યાં રહેતું નથી.
29Every city flees for the noise of the horsemen and archers; they go into the thickets, and climb up on the rocks: every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells therein.
30તેં શા માટે તારા સૌથી સુંદર વસ્ત્રો અને ઘરેણાં પહેર્યાં છે? અને શા માટે આંખોમાં કાજળ લગાવીને આંખોને તેજસ્વી કરી છે? તેનાથી તને લાભ થવાનો નથી. તારા પ્રેમીઓ, પ્રજાઓ તારો ધિક્કાર કરે છે અને તારો વિનાશ કરવાનું ઈરછે છે.
30You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck you with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with paint, in vain do you make yourself beautiful; your lovers despise you, they seek your life.
31હું કોઇની પ્રસવવેદનાની ચીસ જેવી ચીસ સાંભળું છું. પ્રથમ બાળકને જન્મ આપતી વખતે પ્રસૂતિની વેદનાથી કષ્ટાતી સ્ત્રીના સાદ જેવો અવાજ મેં સાંભળ્યો છે. એ તો મારા લોકોનો અવાજ છે. તેઓ હાંફી ગયા છે તેઓ પોતાના હાથને ખેંચી રહ્યા છે અને રડે છે, “અમે ડૂબી ગયા છીએ, અમારો સંહાર કરી રહ્યા છે, તેની સામે અમે બેભાન થઇ રહ્યા છીએ.”
31For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul faints before the murderers.
