1திராட்சரசம் பரியாசஞ்செய்யும்; மதுபானம் அமளிபண்ணும்; அதினால் மயங்குகிற ஒருவனும் ஞானவானல்ல.
1Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler; Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
2ராஜாவின் உறுக்குதல் சிங்கத்தின் கெர்ச்சிப்புக்குச் சமானம்; அவனைக் கோபப்படுத்துகிறவன் தன் பிராணனுக்கே துரோகஞ்செய்கிறான்.
2The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion: He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
3வழக்குக்கு விலகுவது மனுஷனுக்கு மேன்மை; மூடனானவன் எவனும் அதிலே தலையிட்டுக்கொள்வான்.
3It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife; But every fool will be quarreling.
4சோம்பேறி குளிருகிறதென்று உழமாட்டான்; அறுப்பிலே பிச்சைகேட்டாலும் அவனுக்கு ஒன்றுங்கிடையாது.
4The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5மனுஷனுடைய இருதயத்திலுள்ள யோசனை ஆழமான தண்ணீர்போலிருக்கிறது; புத்திமானோ அதை மொண்டெடுப்பான்.
5Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; But a man of understanding will draw it out.
6மனுஷர் பெரும்பாலும் தங்கள் தயாளத்தைப் பிரசித்தப்படுத்துவார்கள்; உண்மையான மனுஷனைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பவன் யார்?
6Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, But who can find a faithful man?
7நீதிமான் தன் உத்தமத்திலே நடக்கிறான்; அவனுக்குப்பிறகு அவன் பிள்ளைகளும் பாக்கியவான்களாயிருப்பார்கள்.
7A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.
8நியாயாசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் ராஜா தன் கண்களினால் சகல பொல்லாப்பையும் சிதறப்பண்ணுகிறான்.
8A king who sits on the throne of judgment Scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9என் இருதயத்தைச் சுத்தமாக்கினேன், என் பாவமறத் துப்புரவானேன் என்று சொல்லத்தக்கவன் யார்?
9Who can say, "I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin?"
10வெவ்வேறான நிறைகல்லும், வெவ்வேறான மரக்காலும் ஆகிய இவ்விரண்டும் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவைகள்.
10Differing weights and differing measures, Both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.
11பிள்ளையானாலும், அதின் செய்கை சுத்தமோ செம்மையோ என்பது, அதின் நடக்கையினால் விளங்கும்.
11Even a child makes himself known by his doings, Whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
12கேட்கிற காதும், காண்கிற கண்ணும் ஆகிய இவ்விரண்டையும் கர்த்தர் உண்டாக்கினார்.
12The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, Yahweh has made even both of them.
13தூக்கத்தை விரும்பாதே, விரும்பினால் தரித்திரனாவாய்; கண்விழித்திரு, அப்பொழுது ஆகாரத்தினால் திருப்தியாவாய்.
13Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty; Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14கொள்ளுகிறவன்: நல்லதல்ல, நல்லதல்ல என்பான்; போய்விட்டபின்போ மெச்சிக்கொள்வான்.
14"It's no good, it's no good," says the buyer; But when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15பொன்னும் மிகுதியான முத்துக்களும் உண்டு; அறிவுள்ள உதடுகளோ விலையுயர்ந்த இரத்தினம்.
15There is gold and abundance of rubies; But the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
16அந்நியனுக்காகப் பிணைப்பட்டவனுடைய வஸ்திரத்தை எடுத்துக்கொள்; அந்நிய ஸ்திரீயினிமித்தம் அவன் கையில் ஈடுவாங்கிக்கொள்.
16Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; And hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
17வஞ்சனையினால் வந்த போஜனம் மனுஷனுக்கு இன்பமாயிருக்கும்; பின்போ அவனுடைய வாய் பருக்கைக் கற்களால் நிரப்பப்படும்.
17Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, But afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18ஆலோசனையினால் எண்ணங்கள் ஸ்திரப்படும்; நல்யோசனை செய்து யுத்தம்பண்ணு.
18Plans are established by advice; By wise guidance you wage war!
19தூற்றிக்கொண்டு திரிகிறவன் இரகசியங்களை வெளிப்படுத்துவான்; ஆதலால் தன் உதடுகளினால் அலப்புகிறவனோடே கலவாதே.
19He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; Therefore don't keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
20தன் தகப்பனையும் தன் தாயையும் தூஷிக்கிறவனுடைய தீபம் காரிருளில் அணைந்துபோகும்.
20Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21ஆரம்பத்திலே துரிதமாகக் கிடைத்த சுதந்தரம் முடிவிலே ஆசீர்வாதம் பெறாது.
21An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning, Won't be blessed in the end.
22தீமைக்குச் சரிக்கட்டுவேன் என்று சொல்லாதே; கர்த்தருக்குக் காத்திரு, அவர் உன்னை இரட்சிப்பார்.
22Don't say, "I will pay back evil." Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you.
23வெவ்வேறான நிறைகற்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவைகள்; கள்ளத்தராசு நல்லதல்ல.
23Yahweh detests differing weights, And dishonest scales are not pleasing.
24கர்த்தராலே மனுஷருடைய நடைகள் வாய்க்கும்; ஆகையால் மனுஷன் தன் வழியை அறிந்துகொள்வதெப்படி?
24A man's steps are from Yahweh; How then can man understand his way?
25பரிசுத்தமானதை விழுங்குகிறதும், பொருத்தனை செய்தபின்பு யோசிக்கிறதும், மனுஷனுக்குக் கண்ணியாயிருக்கும்.
25It is a snare to a man make a rash dedication, And later reconsider his vows.
26ஞானமுள்ள ராஜா துன்மார்க்கரை சிதறடித்து, அவர்கள்மேல் உருளையை உருட்டுவான்.
26A wise king winnows out the wicked, And drives the threshing wheel over them.
27மனுஷனுடைய ஆவி கர்த்தர் தந்த தீபமாயிருக்கிறது; அது உள்ளத்தில் உள்ளவைகளையெல்லாம் ஆராய்ந்துபார்க்கும்.
27The spirit of man is Yahweh's lamp, Searching all his innermost parts.
28தயையும் சத்தியமும் ராஜாவைக் காக்கும்; தயையினாலே தன் சிங்காசனத்தை நிற்கப்பண்ணுவான்.
28Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.
29வாலிபரின் அலங்காரம் அவர்கள் பராக்கிரமம்; முதிர்வயதானவர்களின் மகிமை அவர்கள் நரை.
29The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30காயத்தின் தழும்புகளும், உள்ளத்தில் உறைக்கும் அடிகளும், பொல்லாதவனை அழுக்கறத் துடைக்கும்.
30Wounding blows cleanse away evil, And beatings purge the innermost parts.
