1அவர் தம்முடைய வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் ஜனங்களுடைய காதுகள் கேட்கும்படி சொல்லி முடித்தபின்பு, கப்பர்நகூமுக்குப் போனார்.
1After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
2அங்கே நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதியாகிய ஒருவனுக்குப் பிரியமான வேலைக்காரன் வியாதிப்பட்டு மரண அவஸ்தையாயிருந்தான்.
2A certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.
3அவன் இயேசுவைக்குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவர் வந்து தன் வேலைக்காரனைக் குணமாக்கவேண்டுமென்று, அவரை வேண்டிக்கொள்ளும்படி யூதருடைய மூப்பரை அவரிடத்தில் அனுப்பினான்.
3When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his servant.
4அவர்கள் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவரைக் கருத்தாய் வேண்டிக்கொண்டு: நீர் இந்தத் தயவுசெய்கிறதற்கு அவன் பாத்திரனாயிருக்கிறான்.
4When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, "He is worthy for you to do this for him,
5அவன் நம்முடைய ஜனத்தை நேசிக்கிறான், நமக்கு ஒரு ஜெப ஆலயத்தையும் கட்டினான் என்றார்கள்.
5for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us."
6அப்பொழுது இயேசு அவர்களுடனே கூடப்போனார். வீட்டுக்குச் சமீபமானபோது, நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதி தன் சிநேகிதரை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் அவரிடத்தில்போய், ஆண்டவரே! நீர் வருத்தப்படவேண்டாம்; நீர் என் வீட்டு வாசலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்க நான் பாத்திரன் அல்ல;
6Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, "Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.
7நான் உம்மிடத்தில் வரவும் என்னைப் பாத்திரனாக எண்ணவில்லை; ஒரு வார்த்தைமாத்திரம் சொல்லும், அப்பொழுது என் வேலைக்காரன் சொஸ்தமாவான்.
7Therefore I didn't even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.
8நான் அதிகாரத்துக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டவனாயிருந்தும், எனக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டிருக்கிற சேவகருமுண்டு; நான் ஒருவனைப் போவென்றால் போகிறான், மற்றொருவனை வாவென்றால் வருகிறான், என் வேலைக்காரனை, இதைச் செய்யென்றால் செய்கிறான் என்று நான் சொன்னதாகச் சொல்லுங்கள் என்று அவர்களை அனுப்பினான்.
8For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go!' and he goes; and to another, 'Come!' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."
9இயேசு இவைகளைக் கேட்டு அவனைக் குறித்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு, திரும்பி, தமக்குப் பின்செல்லுகிற திரளான ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலருக்குள்ளும் நான் இப்படிப்பட்ட விசவாசத்தைக் காணவில்லை என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
9When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel."
10அனுப்பப்பட்டவர்கள் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிவந்தபோது, வியாதியாய்க்கிடந்த வேலைக்காரன் சுகமடைந்திருக்கிறதைக் கண்டார்கள்.
10Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well.
11மறுநாளிலே அவர் நாயீன் என்னும் ஊருக்குப் போனார்; அவருடைய சீஷர் அநேகரும் திரளான ஜனங்களும் அவருடனேகூடப் போனார்கள்.
11It happened soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him.
12அவர் ஊரின் வாசலுக்குச் சமீபித்தபோது, மரித்துப்போன ஒருவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணும்படி கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; அவன் தன் தாய்க்கு ஒரே மகனாயிருந்தான். அவளோ கைம்பெண்ணாயிருந்தாள்; ஊராரில் வெகு ஜனங்கள் அவளுடனேகூட வந்தார்கள்.
12Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her.
13கர்த்தர் அவளைப் பார்த்து, அவள்மேல் மனதுருகி: அழாதே என்று சொல்லி,
13When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, "Don't cry."
14கிட்டவந்து, பாடையைத் தொட்டார்; அதைச் சுமந்தவர்கள் நின்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவர்: வாலிபனே, எழுந்திரு என்று உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
14He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, "Young man, I tell you, arise!"
15மரித்தவன் எழுந்து உட்கார்ந்து, பேசத்தொடங்கினான். அவனை அவன் தாயினிடத்தில் ஒப்புவித்தார்.
15He who was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.
16எல்லாரும் பயமடைந்து: மகா தீர்க்கதரிசியானவர் நமக்குள்ளே தோன்றியிருக்கிறார் என்றும், தேவன் தமது ஜனங்களைச் சந்தித்தார் என்றும் சொல்லி, தேவனை மகிமைப்படுத்தினார்கள்.
16Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us!" and, "God has visited his people!"
17இந்தச் செய்தி யூதேயா தேசமுழுவதிலும் சுற்றியிருக்கிற திசைகள் யாவற்றிலும் பிரசித்தமாயிற்று.
17This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea, and in all the surrounding region.
18இவைகளையெல்லாம் யோவானுடைய சீஷர்கள் அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது யோவான் தன் சீஷரில் இரண்டுபேரை அழைத்து,
18The disciples of John told him about all these things.
19நீங்கள் இயேசுவினிடத்திற்குப் போய்: வருகிறவர் நீர்தானா? அல்லது வேறொருவர் வரக் காத்திருக்கவேண்டுமா? என்று கேளுங்கள் என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினான்.
19John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, "Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for another?"
20அந்தப்படி அவர்கள் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து: வருகிறவர் நீர்தானா? அல்லது வேறொருவர் வரக் காத்திருக்கவேண்டுமா? என்று கேட்கும்படி யோவான்ஸ்நானன் எங்களை உம்மிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பினார் என்றார்கள்.
20When the men had come to him, they said, "John the Baptizer has sent us to you, saying, 'Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?'"
21அந்தச் சமயத்திலே நோய்களையும் கொடிய வியாதிகளையும் பொல்லாத ஆவிகளையும் கொண்டிருந்த அநேகரை அவர் குணமாக்கி, அநேகங்குருடருக்குப் பார்வையளித்தார்.
21In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.
22இயேசு அவர்களுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நீங்கள் போய், கண்டவைகளையும் கேட்டவைகளையும் யோவானுக்கு அறிவியுங்கள்; குருடர் பார்வையடைகிறார்கள், சப்பாணிகள் நடக்கிறார்கள், குஷ்டரோகிகள் சுத்தமாகிறார்கள், செவிடர் கேட்கிறார்கள், மரித்தோர் எழுந்திருக்கிறார்கள், தரித்திரருக்குச் சுவிசேஷம் பிரசங்கிக்கப்படுகிறது.
22Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.
23என்னிடத்தில் இடறலடையாதிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ அவன் பாக்கியவான் என்றார்.
23Blessed is he who is not offended by me."
24யோவானுடைய தூதர்கள் போனபின்பு அவர் யோவானைக்குறித்து ஜனங்களுக்குச் சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்: எதைப்பார்க்க வனாந்தரத்திற்குப் போனீர்கள்? காற்றினால் அசையும் நாணலையோ?
24When John's messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?
25அல்லவென்றால், எதைப்பார்க்கப்போனீர்கள்? மெல்லிய வஸ்திரந்தரித்த மனுஷனையோ? அலங்கார வஸ்திரந்தரித்துச் செல்வமாய் வாழ்கிறவர்கள் அரசர் மாளிகைகளிலே இருக்கிறார்கள்.
25But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.
26அல்லவென்றால், எதைப்பார்க்கப் போனீர்கள்? தீர்க்கதரிசியையோ? ஆம், தீர்க்கதரிசியைப் பார்க்கிலும் மேன்மையுள்ளவனையே என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
26But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.
27இதோ, நான் என் தூதனை உமக்கு முன்பாக அனுப்புகிறேன்; அவன் உமக்கு முன்னே போய், உமது வழியை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணுவான் என்று எழுதிய வாக்கியத்தால் குறிக்கப்பட்டவன் இவன்தான்.
27This is he of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, Who will prepare your way before you.'
28ஸ்திரீகளிடத்திலே பிறந்தவர்களில் யோவான்ஸ்நானனைப்பார்க்கிலும் பெரிய தீர்க்கதரிசி ஒருவனுமில்லை; ஆகிலும், தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தில் சிறியவனாயிருக்கிறவன் அவனிலும் பெரியவனாயிருக்கிறானென்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
28"For I tell you, among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptizer, yet he who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he."
29யோவானுடைய உபதேசத்தைக் கேட்ட ஆயக்காரர் முதலான சகல ஜனங்களும் அவனாலே ஞானஸ்நானம் பெற்று, தேவன் நீதிபரர் என்று அறிக்கையிட்டார்கள்.
29When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they declared God to be just, having been baptized with John's baptism.
30பரிசேயரும் நியாயசாஸ்திரிகளுமோ அவனாலே ஞானஸ்நானம் பெறாமல் தங்களுக்குக் கேடுண்டாக தேவனுடைய ஆலோசனையைத் தள்ளிவிட்டார்கள்.
30But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God, not being baptized by him themselves.
31பின்னும் கர்த்தர் சொன்னது: இந்தச் சந்ததியை யாருக்கு ஒப்பிடுவேன்? இவர்கள் யாருக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறார்கள்?
31But the Lord said, "To what then will I liken the people of this generation? What are they like?
32சந்தை வெளியில் உட்கார்ந்து, ஒருவரையொருவர் பார்த்து: உங்களுக்காகக் குழல் ஊதினோம், நீங்கள் கூத்தாடவில்லை; உங்களுக்காகப் புலம்பினோம், நீங்கள் அழவில்லை என்று குறை சொல்லுகிற பிள்ளைகளுக்கு ஒப்பாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.
32They are like children who sit in the marketplace, and call one to another, saying, 'We piped to you, and you didn't dance. We mourned, and you didn't weep.'
33எப்படியெனில், யோவான்ஸ்நானன் அப்பம் புசியாதவனும் திராட்சரசம் குடியாதவனுமாய் வந்தான்; அதற்கு நீங்கள்: அவன் பிசாசு பிடித்திருக்கிறவன் என்கிறீர்கள்.
33For John the Baptizer came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.'
34மனுஷகுமாரன் போஜனபானம்பண்ணுகிறவராய் வந்தார்; அதற்கு நீங்கள்: இதோ, போஜனப்பிரியனும் மதுபானப்பிரியனுமான மனுஷன், ஆயக்காரருக்கும் பாவிகளுக்கும் சிநேகிதன் என்கிறீர்கள்.
34The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man, and a drunkard; a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'
35ஆனாலும் ஞானமானது அதன் பிள்ளைகளெல்லாராலும் நீதியுள்ளதென்று ஒப்புக்கொள்ளப்படும் என்றார்.
35Wisdom is justified by all her children."
36பரிசேயரில் ஒருவன் தன்னுடனே போஜனம்பண்ணவேண்டுமென்று அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டான்; அவர் அந்தப் பரிசேயனுடைய வீட்டில் பிரவேசித்துப் பந்தியிருந்தார்.
36One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee's house, and sat at the table.
37அப்பொழுது அந்த ஊரிலிருந்த பாவியாகிய ஒரு ஸ்திரீ அவர் பரிசேயன் வீட்டிலே பந்தியிருக்கிறதை அறிந்து, ஒரு பரணியில் பரிமளதைலம் கொண்டுவந்து,
37Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
38அவருடைய பாதங்களின் அருகே பின்னாக நின்று அழுதுகொண்டு, அவருடைய பாதங்களைத் தன் கண்ணீரினால் நனைத்து, தன் தலைமயிரினால் துடைத்து, அவருடைய பாதங்களை முத்தஞ்செய்து, பரிமளதைலத்தைப் பூசினாள்.
38Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39அவரை அழைத்த பரிசேயன் அதைக் கண்டபோது, இவர் தீர்க்கதரிசியாயிருந்தால் தம்மைத் தொடுகிற ஸ்திரீ இன்னாளென்றும் இப்படிப்பட்டவளென்றும் அறிந்திருப்பார்; இவள் பாவியாயிருக்கிறாளே என்று தனக்குள்ளே சொல்லிக்கொண்டான்.
39Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, "This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner."
40இயேசு அவனை நோக்கி: சீமோனே, உனக்கு நான் ஒரு காரியம் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றார் அதற்கு அவன்: போதகரே, சொல்லும் என்றான்.
40Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you." He said, "Teacher, say on."
41அப்பொழுது அவர்: ஒருவனிடத்தில் இரண்டுபேர் கடன்பட்டிருந்தார்கள்; ஒருவன் ஐந்நூறு வெள்ளிக்காசும், மற்றவன் ஐம்பது வெள்ளிக்காசும் கொடுக்கவேண்டியதாயிருந்தது.
41"A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42கொடுக்க அவர்களுக்கு நிர்வாகமில்லாதபோது, இருவருக்கும் கடனை மன்னித்துவிட்டான். இப்படியிருக்க, அவர்களில் எவன் அவனிடத்தில் அதிக அன்பாயிருப்பான்? அதைச் சொல் என்றார்.
42When they couldn't pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?"
43சீமோன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: எவனுக்கு அதிகமாய் மன்னித்துவிட்டானோ அவனே அதிக அன்பாயிருப்பான் என்று நினைக்கிறேன் என்றான்; அதற்கு அவர்: சரியாய் நிதானித்தாய் என்று சொல்லி,
43Simon answered, "He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most." He said to him, "You have judged correctly."
44ஸ்திரீயினிடமாய்த் திரும்பி, சீமோனை நோக்கி: இந்த ஸ்திரீயைப் பார்க்கிறாயே; நான் உன் வீட்டில் பிரவேசித்தேன், நீ என் கால்களுக்குத் தண்ணீர்த் தரவில்லை, இவளோ, கண்ணீரினால் என் கால்களை நனைத்து, தன் தலைமயிரினால் அவைகளைத் துடைத்தாள்.
44Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.
45நீ என்னை முத்தஞ்செய்யவில்லை, இவளோ, நான் உட்பிரவேசித்தது முதல், என் பாதங்களை ஓயாமல் முத்தஞ்செய்தாள்.
45You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.
46நீ என் தலையில் எண்ணெய் பூசவில்லை, இவளோ என் பாதங்களில் பரிமளதைலம் பூசினாள்.
46You didn't anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
47ஆதலால் நான் உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்: இவள் செய்த அநேக பாவங்கள் மன்னிக்கப்பட்டது; இவள் மிகவும் அன்புகூர்ந்தாளே. எவனுக்குக் கொஞ்சம் மன்னிக்கப்படுகிறதோ, அவன் கொஞ்சமாய் அன்புகூருவான் என்று சொல்லி;
47Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."
48அவளை நோக்கி: உன் பாவங்கள் மன்னிக்கப்பட்டது என்றார்.
48He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
49அப்பொழுது கூடப் பந்தியிருந்தவர்கள்: பாவங்களை மன்னிக்கிற இவன் யார் என்று தங்களுக்குள்ளே சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
49Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"
50அவர் ஸ்திரீயை நோக்கி: உன் விசுவாசம் உன்னை இரட்சித்தது, சமாதானத்தோடே போ என்றார்.
50He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."
