1என் கண்களோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணின நான் ஒரு கன்னிகையின்மேல் நினைப்பாயிருப்பதெப்படி?
1"I made a covenant with my eyes, How then should I look lustfully at a young woman?
2அப்பொழுது உன்னதங்களிலிருந்து தேவன் அளிக்கும் பங்கும், உன்னதத்திலிருந்து சர்வவல்லவர் கொடுக்கும் சுதந்தரமும் கிடைக்குமோ?
2For what is the portion from God above, And the heritage from the Almighty on high?
3மாறுபாடானவனுக்கு ஆபத்தும், அக்கிரமச் செய்கைக்காரருக்கு ஆக்கினையுமல்லவோ கிடைக்கும்.
3Is it not calamity to the unrighteous, And disaster to the workers of iniquity?
4அவர் என் வழிகளைப் பார்த்து, என் நடைகளையெல்லாம் எண்ணுகிறார் அல்லவோ?
4Doesn't he see my ways, And number all my steps?
5நான் மாயையிலே நடந்தேனோ, என் கால் கபடுசெய்யத் தீவிரித்ததோ என்று,
5"If I have walked with falsehood, And my foot has hurried to deceit
6சுமுத்திரையான தராசிலே தேவன் என்னை நிறுத்து, என் உத்தமத்தை அறிவாராக.
6(Let me be weighed in an even balance, That God may know my integrity);
7என் நடைகள் வழியைவிட்டு விலகினதும், என் இருதயம் என் கண்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்ததும், ஏதாகிலும் ஒரு மாசு என் கைகளில் ஒட்டிக்கொண்டதும் உண்டானால்,
7If my step has turned out of the way, If my heart walked after my eyes, If any defilement has stuck to my hands,
8அப்பொழுது நான் விதைத்ததை வேறொருவன் புசிப்பானாக; என் பயிர்கள் வேரற்றுப்போகக்கடவது.
8Then let me sow, and let another eat; Yes, let the produce of my field be rooted out.
9என் மனம் யாதொரு ஸ்திரீயின்மேல் மயங்கி, அயலானுடைய வாசலை நான் எட்டிப்பார்த்ததுண்டானால்,
9"If my heart has been enticed to a woman, And I have laid wait at my neighbor's door;
10அப்பொழுது என் மனைவி வேறொருவனுக்கு மாவரைப்பாளாக; வேற்று மனிதர் அவள்மேல் சாய்வார்களாக.
10Then let my wife grind for another, And let others sleep with her.
11அது தோஷம், அது நியாயாதிபதிகளால் விசாரிக்கப்படும் அக்கிரமமாமே.
11For that would be a heinous crime; Yes, it would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges:
12அது பாதாளபரியந்தம் பட்சிக்கும் அக்கினியாய் என் சம்பத்தையெல்லாம் நிர்மூலமாக்கும்.
12For it is a fire that consumes to destruction, And would root out all my increase.
13என் வேலைக்காரனானாலும், என் வேலைக்காரியானாலும், என்னோடு வழக்காடும்போது, அவர்கள் நியாயத்தை நான் அசட்டைபண்ணியிருந்தால்,
13"If I have despised the cause of my man-servant Or of my maid-servant, When they contended with me;
14தேவன் எழும்பும்போது, நான் என்ன செய்வேன்; அவர் விசாரிக்கும்போது, நான் அவருக்கு என்ன மறுஉத்தரவு சொல்லுவேன்.
14What then shall I do when God rises up? When he visits, what shall I answer him?
15தாயின் கர்ப்பத்தில் என்னை உண்டுபண்ணினவர் அவனையும் உண்டுபண்ணினார் அல்லவோ? ஒரேவிதமான கர்ப்பத்தில் எங்களை உருவாக்கினார் அல்லவோ?
15Didn't he who made me in the womb make him? Didn't one fashion us in the womb?
16எளியவர்கள் வாஞ்சித்ததை நான் கொடாதிருந்து, விதவையின் கண்களைப் பூத்துப்போகப்பண்ணி,
16"If I have withheld the poor from their desire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,
17தாய்தகப்பனில்லாத பிள்ளை என் ஆகாரத்தில் சாப்பிடாமல், நான் ஒருவனாய்ச் சாப்பிட்டதுண்டோ?
17Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the fatherless has not eaten of it
18என் சிறுவயதுமுதல் அவன் தகப்பனிடத்தில் வளர்வதுபோல என்னோடே வளர்ந்தான்; நான் என் தாயின் கர்ப்பத்திலே பிறந்ததுமுதல் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களைக் கைலாகுகொடுத்து நடத்தினேன்.
18(No, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, Her have I guided from my mother's womb);
19ஒருவன் உடுப்பில்லாததினால் மடிந்துபோகிறதையும், ஏழைக்கு மூட வஸ்திரமில்லாதிருக்கிறதையும் நான் கண்டபோது,
19If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, Or that the needy had no covering;
20அவன் என் ஆட்டுமயிர்க் கம்பளியினாலே அனல்கொண்டதினால், அவன் இடை என்னைப் புகழாதிருந்ததும்,
20If his heart hasn't blessed me, If he hasn't been warmed with my sheep's fleece;
21ஒலிமுகவாசலில் எனக்குச் செல்வாக்கு உண்டென்று நான் கண்டு, திக்கற்றவனுக்கு விரோதமாய் என் கையை நீட்டினதும் உண்டானால்,
21If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, Because I saw my help in the gate:
22என் கைப்பட்டை தோளிலிருந்து சரிந்து, என் புயத்து எலும்பு முறிந்துபோவதாக.
22Then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder-blade, And my arm be broken from the bone.
23தேவன் ஆக்கினையிடுவார் என்றும், அவருடைய மகத்துவத்தை உத்தரிக்கக்கூடாது என்றும், எனக்குப் பயங்கரமாயிருந்தது.
23For calamity from God is a terror to me, By reason of his majesty I can do nothing.
24நான் பொன்னின்மேல் என் நம்பிக்கையை வைத்து, தங்கத்தைப்பார்த்து: நீ என் ஆதரவு என்று நான் சொன்னதும்,
24"If I have made gold my hope, And have said to the fine gold, 'You are my confidence;'
25என் ஆஸ்திபெரியதென்றும், என் கைக்கு மிகுதியும் கிடைத்ததென்றும் நான் மகிழ்ந்ததும்,
25If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gotten much;
26சூரியன் பிரகாசிக்கும்போதும், அல்லது சந்திரன் மகிமையாய்ச் செல்லும்போதும், நான் அதை நோக்கி:
26If I have seen the sun when it shined, Or the moon moving in splendor,
27என் மனம் இரகசியமாய் மயக்கப்பட்டு, என் வாய் என் கையை முத்தி செய்ததுண்டானால்,
27And my heart has been secretly enticed, My hand threw a kiss from my mouth:
28இதுவும் நியாயாதிபதிகளால் விசாரிக்கப்படத்தக்க அக்கிரமமாயிருக்கும்; அதினால் உன்னதத்திலிருக்கிற தேவனை மறுதலிப்பேனே.
28This also would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges; For I should have denied the God who is above.
29என் பகைஞனுடைய ஆபத்திலே நான் மகிழ்ந்து, பொல்லாப்பு அவனுக்கு நேரிட்டபோது களிகூர்ந்திருந்தேனோ?
29"If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, Or lifted up myself when evil found him;
30அவன் ஜீவனுக்குச் சாபத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்படி விரும்பி, வாயினால் பாவஞ்செய்ய நான் இடங்கொடுக்கவில்லை.
30(Yes, I have not allowed my mouth to sin By asking his life with a curse);
31அவன் இனத்தார்களில் திருப்தியாகாதவனைக் காண்பிப்பவன் யாரென்று என் கூடாரத்தின் மனுஷர் சொல்லார்களோ?
31If the men of my tent have not said, 'Who can find one who has not been filled with his meat?'
32பரதேசி வீதியிலே இராத்தங்கினதில்லை; வழிப்போக்கனுக்கு என் வாசல்களைத் திறந்தேன்.
32(The foreigner has not lodged in the street; But I have opened my doors to the traveler);
33நான் ஆதாமைப்போல என் மீறுதல்களை மூடி, என் அக்கிரமத்தை என் மடியிலே ஒளித்துவைத்தேனோ?
33If like Adam I have covered my transgressions, By hiding my iniquity in my heart,
34திரளான என் கூட்டத்துக்கு நான் பயந்ததினாலாவது, இனத்தார் ஜனத்தார் பண்ணும் இகழ்ச்சி என்னைத் திடுக்கிடப்பண்ணினதினாலாவது, நான் பேசாதிருந்து, வாசற்படியை விட்டுப் புறப்படாதிருந்தேனோ?
34Because I feared the great multitude, And the contempt of families terrified me, So that I kept silence, and didn't go out of the door�
35ஆ, என் வழக்கைக் கேட்கிறவன் ஒருவன் இருந்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும்; இதோ, சர்வவல்லவர் எனக்கு உத்தரவு அருளிச்செய்யவும், என் எதிராளி தன் வழக்கை எழுதிக்கொடுக்கவும் எனக்கு விருப்பமுண்டு.
35Oh that I had one to hear me! (Behold, here is my signature, let the Almighty answer me); Let the accuser write my indictment!
36அதை நான் என் தோளின்மேல் வைத்து, எனக்குக் கிரீடமாகத் தரித்துக்கொள்வேனே.
36Surely I would carry it on my shoulder; And I would bind it to me as a crown.
37அவனுக்கு நான் என் நடைகளைத் தொகை தொகையாய்க் காண்பித்து, ஒரு பிரபுவைப்போல அவனிடத்தில் போவேன்.
37I would declare to him the number of my steps. As a prince would I go near to him.
38எனக்கு விரோதமாக என் காணி பூமி கூப்பிடுகிறதும், அதின் படைச்சால்கள்கூட அழுகிறதும்,
38If my land cries out against me, And the furrows of it weep together;
39கூலிகொடாமல் நான் அதின் பலனைப் புசித்து, பயிரிட்டவர்களின் ஆத்துமாவை உபத்திரவப்படுத்தினதும் உண்டானால்,
39If I have eaten the fruits of it without money, Or have caused the owners of it to lose their life:
40அதில் கோதுமைக்குப் பதிலாக முள்ளும், வாற்கோதுமைக்குப் பதிலாகக் களையும் முளைக்கக்கடவது என்றான். யோபின் வார்த்தைகள் முடிந்தது.
40Let briars grow instead of wheat, And stinkweed instead of barley." The words of Job are ended.
