1யாக்கோபு தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்து, இதோ, ஏசாவும் அவனோடேகூட நானூறு மனிதரும் வருகிறதைக் கண்டு, பிள்ளைகளை லேயாளிடத்திலும் ராகேலிடத்திலும் இரண்டு பணிவிடைக்காரிகளிடத்திலும் வெவ்வேறாகப் பிரித்துவைத்து,
1Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau was coming, and with him four hundred men. He divided the children between Leah, Rachel, and to the two handmaids.
2பணிவிடைக்காரிகளையும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளையும் முதலிலும், லேயாளையும் அவள் பிள்ளைகளையும் இடையிலும், ராகேலையும் யோசேப்பையும் கடையிலும் நிறுத்தி:
2He put the handmaids and their children in front, Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph at the rear.
3தான் அவர்களுக்கு முன்னாக நடந்து போய், ஏழுவிசை தரைமட்டும் குனிந்து வணங்கி, தன் சகோதரன் கிட்டச் சேர்ந்தான்.
3He himself passed over in front of them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4அப்பொழுது ஏசா எதிர்கொண்டு ஓடிவந்து, அவனைத் தழுவி, அவன் கழுத்தைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவனை முத்தஞ்செய்தான்; இருவரும் அழுதார்கள்.
4Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, fell on his neck, kissed him, and they wept.
5அவன் தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்து, ஸ்திரீகளையும் பிள்ளைகளையும் கண்டு: உன்னோடிருக்கிற இவர்கள் யார்? என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: தேவன் உமது அடியானுக்கு அருளின பிள்ளைகள் என்றான்.
5He lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, "Who are these with you?" He said, "The children whom God has graciously given your servant."
6அப்பொழுது பணிவிடைக்காரிகளும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் சேர்ந்துவந்து வணங்கினார்கள்.
6Then the handmaids came near with their children, and they bowed themselves.
7லேயாளும் அவள் பிள்ளைகளும் சேர்ந்துவந்து வணங்கினார்கள்; பின்பு யோசேப்பும் ராகேலும் சேர்ந்துவந்து வணங்கினார்கள்.
7Leah also and her children came near, and bowed themselves. After them, Joseph came near with Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8அப்பொழுது அவன்: எனக்கு எதிர்கொண்டுவந்த அந்த மந்தையெல்லாம் என்னத்துக்கு என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: என் ஆண்டவனுடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயவு கிடைக்கிறதற்கு என்றான்.
8Esau said, "What do you mean by all this company which I met?" Jacob said, "To find favor in the sight of my lord."
9அதற்கு ஏசா: என் சகோதரனே, எனக்குப் போதுமானது உண்டு; உன்னுடையது உனக்கு இருக்கட்டும் என்றான்.
9Esau said, "I have enough, my brother; let that which you have be yours."
10அதற்கு யாக்கோபு: அப்படி அல்ல, உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயவு கிடைத்ததேயானால், என் வெகுமதியை என் கையிலிருந்து ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்; நீர் என்மேல் பிரியமானீர், நான் உம்முடைய முகத்தைக் கண்டது தேவனுடைய முகத்தைக் கண்டதுபோல இருக்கிறது.
10Jacob said, "Please, no, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present at my hand, because I have seen your face, as one sees the face of God, and you were pleased with me.
11தேவன் எனக்கு அநுக்கிரகம் செய்திருக்கிறார்; வேண்டியதெல்லாம் எனக்கு உண்டு; ஆகையால் உமக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட என் காணிக்கையை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும் என்று சொல்லி, அவனை வருந்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் அதை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டான்.
11Please take the gift that I brought to you; because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough." He urged him, and he took it.
12பின்பு அவன்: நாம் புறப்பட்டுப்போவோம் வா, நான் உனக்கு முன் நடப்பேன் என்றான்.
12Esau said, "Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before you."
13அதற்கு அவன்: பிள்ளைகள் இளம்பிள்ளைகள் என்றும், கறவையான ஆடுமாடுகள் என்னிடத்தில் இருக்கிறது என்றும் என் ஆண்டவனுக்குத் தெரியும்; அவைகள் ஒரு நாளாவது துரிதமாய் ஓட்டினால், மந்தையெல்லாம் மாண்டுபோம்.
13Jacob said to him, "My lord knows that the children are tender, and that the flocks and herds with me have their young, and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die.
14என் ஆண்டவனாகிய நீர் உமது அடியானுக்கு முன்னே போம்; நான் சேயீருக்கு என் ஆண்டவனிடத்தில் வருமளவும், எனக்குமுன் நடக்கிற மந்தைகளின் கால்நடைக்கும் பிள்ளைகளின் கால்நடைக்கும் தக்கதாக, மெதுவாய் அவைகளை நடத்திக்கொண்டு வருகிறேன் என்றான்.
14Please let my lord pass over before his servant: and I will lead on gently, according to the pace of the cattle that are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord to Seir."
15அப்பொழுது ஏசா: என்னிடத்திலிருக்கிற ஜனங்களில் சிலரை நான் உன்னிடத்தில் நிறுத்திவிட்டுப் போகட்டுமா என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: அது என்னத்திற்கு, என் ஆண்டவனுடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயவுகிடைத்தால் மாத்திரம் போதும் என்றான்.
15Esau said, "Let me now leave with you some of the folk who are with me." He said, "Why? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord."
16அன்றைத்தினம் ஏசா திரும்பித் தான் வந்த வழியே சேயீருக்குப்போனான்.
16So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.
17யாக்கோபு சுக்கோத்திற்குப் பிரயாணம்பண்ணி, தனக்கு ஒரு வீடு கட்டி, தன் மிருகஜீவன்களுக்குக் கொட்டாரங்களைப் போட்டான்; அதினாலே அந்த ஸ்தலத்துக்குச் சுக்கோத் என்று பேரிட்டான்.
17Jacob traveled to Succoth, built himself a house, and made shelters for his cattle. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
18யாக்கோபு பதான்அராமிலிருந்து வந்தபின் கானான்தேசத்திலிருக்கிற சாலேம் என்னும் சீகேமுடைய பட்டணத்திற்கு அருகே சென்று பட்டணத்திற்கு எதிரே கூடாரம்போட்டான்.
18Jacob came in peace to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Paddan Aram; and encamped before the city.
19தான் கூடாரம்போட்ட வெளியின் நிலத்தைச் சீகேமின் தகப்பனாகிய ஏமோரின் புத்திரர் கையிலே நூறு வெள்ளிக்காசுக்குக் கொண்டு,
19He bought the parcel of ground, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for one hundred pieces of money.
20அங்கே ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டி, அதற்கு ஏல்எல்லோகே இஸ்ரவேல் என்று பேரிட்டான்.
20He erected an altar there, and called it El Elohe Israel.
