तर इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले परमेश्वरको आज्ञा पालन गरेनन्। यहूदाका कुलको जेरहको छोरो जब्दी, त्यसको छोरो कर्मी, कर्मीको छोरो आकान थिए। आकानले ती केही वस्तुहरू राखे जसलाई नष्ट गरिनु पर्ने थियो। यसर्थ परमप्रभु इस्राएलका मानिसहरू प्रति अत्यन्त क्रोधित हुनुभयो।

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the devoted thing; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the devoted thing: and the anger of Yahweh was kindled against the children of Israel.
