1काही दिवसांनी रूथची सासू नामी रूथला म्हणाली, “मुली, आता मला तुझ्यासाठी नवरा आणि चांगले घर शोधून काढायला हवें. त्यातच तुझे भले आहे.
1Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you?
2बवाज त्यासाठी योग्य आहे तो आपला जवळचा आप्तचआहे. त्याच्याकडच्या कामकरी बायकांबरोबर तू काम केले आहेस. आज रात्री तो खव्व्यात मळणीसाठी मुक्कामाला असेल.
2Now isn't Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens you were? Behold, he winnows barley tonight in the threshing floor.
3त न्हाऊन माखून तयार हो. चांगले ठेवणीतले कपडे घाल आणि रात्री खव्व्यावर जा. बवाजचे जेवणखाण होईपर्यंत त्याच्या नजरेला पडू नको.
3Wash yourself therefore, and anoint you, and put your clothing on you, and get you down to the threshing floor, but don't make yourself known to the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4जेवण झाल्यावर तो विश्रांती घ्यायला आडवा होईल. लक्ष असू दे म्हणजे तो कुठे आहे ते तुला कळेल. तेव्हा तू पुढे हो आणि त्याच्या पायावरचे पांधरूण काढूनतिथेच त्याच्याजवळ पड लगेच काय करायचे ते तोच मग तुला सांगेल.”
4It shall be, when he lies down, that you shall mark the place where he shall lie, and you shall go in, and uncover his feet, and lay you down; and he will tell you what you shall do.
5तेव्हा रूथने सासूच्या म्हणण्याप्रमाणे वागायचे कबूल केले.
5She said to her, All that you say I will do.
6ती खव्व्याकडे गेली. सासूने सांगितले होते त्याप्रमाणे वागली.
6She went down to the threshing floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law bade her.
7जेवणखाण झाल्यावर बवाज समाधानाने सुस्तावला. धान्याच्या राशीजवळच झोपायला गेला. तेव्हा अजिबात चाहूल लागू न देता रूथ तिथे गेली आणि त्याच्या पायावरचे पांधरूण तिने दूर सारले. मग त्याच्या पायाशी पडून राहिली.
7When Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
8मध्यरात्रीच्या सुमाराला बवाज झोपेतच कुशीवर वळला आणि जागा झाला. आपल्या पायाजवळ एका बाईला पाहून तो डचकला.
8It happened at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself; and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9ती कोण, हे त्याने विचारले. ती म्हणाली, “मी रूथ तुमची दासी. तुम्ही आपले पंख माझ्यावर पसरातुम्हीच माझे त्रातेआहात.”
9He said, Who are you? She answered, I am Ruth your handmaid: spread therefore your skirt over your handmaid; for you are a near kinsman.
10तेव्हा बवाज म्हणाला, “परमेश्वर तुझे भले करो. माझ्यावर तुझ्या प्रेमाची पाखर तू घातली आहेस. तू नामीशी आधी वागलीस त्यापेक्षाही भलेपणाने तू माझ्याशी वागते आहेस. तू तूझ्या जोगा गरीब, श्रीमंत अशा कोणत्याही तरूण मनुष्याबरोबर गेली असतीस. पण तू तसे केले नाहीस.
10He said, Blessed are you by Yahweh, my daughter: you have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as you didn't follow young men, whether poor or rich.
11तेव्हा आता घाबरू नकोस. तू म्हणशील तसे मी करतो. तू एक चांगली बाई आहेस हे गावातील लोकांना ठाऊक आहे.
11Now, my daughter, don't be afraid; I will do to you all that you say; for all the city of my people does know that you are a worthy woman.
12शिवाय, मी तुमचा जवळचा नातलग आहे हेही खरे. पण माझ्याहीपेक्षा जवळचा असा तुमचा एक आप्त आहे.
12Now it is true that I am a near kinsman; however there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13आजची रात्र तू इथेच राहा. तो तुला मदत करतो का ते मी सकाळी त्याला वचारून बघतो. तो तयार झाला तर उत्तमच. पण त्याने नकार दिला तर परमेश्वरची शपथ मी तुझ्याशी लग्न करीन. अलीमलेखची गेलेली जमीन तुम्हाला परत मिळवून देईनतेव्हा सकाळपर्यंत इथेच थांब.”
13Stay this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform to you the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to you, then will I do the part of a kinsman to you, as Yahweh lives: lie down until the morning.
14त्याप्रमाणे रूथ सकाळपर्यंत बवाजच्या पायाजवळ पडून राहिली. फटफटायच्या आधीच अजून अंधार असतानाच लोक एकमेकांना ओळखायला लागण्यापूर्वाच ती उठली. बवाज तिला म्हणाला, “कालची रात्र तू इथे होतीस हे कोणाला कळू द्यायचे नाही.”
14She lay at his feet until the morning. She rose up before one could discern another. For he said, Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.
15पुढे तो म्हणाला, “तू पांघरलेला रूमाल काढ आणि समोर पसर.” तिने तो पसरल्यावर त्याने एक बुशेल माप सातू त्यात टाकले. तिच्या सासूसाठी ती भेट होती. नीट गाठोडे बांधून त्याने ते तिच्या हवाली केले.मग तो शहरात निघून गेला.
15He said, Bring the mantle that is on you, and hold it; and she held it; and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and he went into the city.
16रूथ सासूकडे गेली. सासूने दाराशी येऊन कोण आहे ते पाहिले.रूथने घराते येऊन बवाज बरोबर जे जे घडले ते सांगितले.
16When she came to her mother-in-law, she said, Who are you, my daughter? She told her all that the man had done to her.
17ती म्हणाली,”त्याने तुमच्यासाठी भेट म्हणून हे सातू दिले आहे. रिकाम्या हाताने तुमच्याकडे यायचे नाही असे त्याने मला बजावले.”
17She said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said, "Don't go empty to your mother-in-law."
18नामी म्हणाली, “मुली, पुढे काय होणार आहे हे आपल्याला कळेपर्यंत धीर धर. अंगावर घेतलेले काम पार पडेपर्यत तो स्वस्थ बसणार नाही. दिवस मावळायच्या आतच काय ते आपल्याला कळेल.”
18Then said she, "Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will fall; for the man will not rest, until he has finished the thing this day."
