1मुला, माझ्या शहाणपणाच्या शिकवणुकीकडे लक्ष दे. माझ्या समजूत निर्माण करणाऱ्या शब्दाकडे लक्ष दे.
1My son, pay attention to my wisdom. Turn your ear to my understanding:
2नंतर तुला जगण्याचा योग्य मार्ग कळेल. तुझे शब्द तू शहाणा आहेस हे दाखवून देतील.
2That you may maintain discretion, That your lips may preserve knowledge.
3दुसन्या माणसाची बायको खूप मोहक असेल. तीच्या मुखातून बाहेर पडणारे शब्द खूप गोड व आकर्षक असतील.
3For the lips of an adulteress drip honey. Her mouth is smoother than oil,
4पण शेवटी त्यामुळे कटुता व दु:खच मिळेल. ते दु:ख विषापेक्षाही कडवट असले. आणि तलवारीपेक्षी धारदार असेल.
4But in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, And as sharp as a two-edged sword.
5तिचे पाय मृत्यूलाच जाऊन भिडतात. ती तुला सरळ कबरेत नेईल.
5Her feet go down to death. Her steps lead straight to Sheol.
6तिच्या मागे जाऊ नकोस. तिने योग्य मार्ग सोडला आहे आणि ते तिला माहीत नाही. काळजीपूर्वक राहा. जीवनाचा योग्य मार्ग आचर.
6She gives no thought to the way of life. Her ways are crooked, and she doesn't know it.
7मुलांनो, आता माझे ऐका. मी जे सांगतो ते विसरु नका.
7Now therefore, my sons, listen to me. Don't depart from the words of my mouth.
8जी स्त्री व्यभिचार करते तिच्यापासून दूर राहा. तिच्या घराच्या दाराजवळ सुध्दा जाऊ नका.
8Remove your way far from her. Don't come near the door of her house,
9जर तुम्ही गेलात तर तुम्ही लोकांच्या मनातल्या तुमच्या विषयीच्या आदराला मुकाल. तुमचा गेलेला मान दुसरे लोक घेतील. शेवटी तुम्ही तुमच्या जीवनाला मुकाल. दुष्ट लोक ते तुमच्यापासून हिरावून घेतील.
9Lest you give your honor to others, And your years to the cruel one;
10तुम्हाला माहीत नसलेले लोक तुमची संपत्ती संपत्ती घेतील. तुम्ही ज्या गोष्टी मिळवण्यासाठी कष्ट केलेत त्या गोष्टी ते लोक घेतील.
10Lest strangers feast on your wealth, And your labors enrich another man's house.
11तुम्ही आयुष्याच्या शेवटी कष्टी व्हाल. तुमचे शरीर आणि मन सर्व काही नाश पावेल.
11You will groan at your latter end, When your flesh and your body are consumed,
12नंतर तुम्ही म्हणाल, “मी माझ्या आई - वडिलांचे का ऐकले नाही? मी शिस्त पाळायला नकार दिला. मी सुधारायला नकार दिला.
12And say, "How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised reproof;

13Neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor turned my ear to those who instructed me!
14आता शेवटी मला दिसते की माझे आयुष्य वाया गेले आहे. आणि सगळ्या लोकांना माझी लाज दिसते आहे.”
14I have come to the brink of utter ruin, In the midst of the gathered assembly."
15तुझ्या विहिरीतून वाहणारे पाणीच फक्त पी. आणि तुझे पाणी रस्त्यावर वाहून जाऊ देऊ नकोस. तू फक्त तुझ्या बायको बरोबरच लैगिक संबंध ठेवायला हवेस. तुझ्या घराबाहेरच्या मुलांचा बाप होऊ नकोस.
15Drink water out of your own cistern, Running water out of your own well.

16Should your springs overflow in the streets, Streams of water in the public squares?
17तुझी मुले फक्त तुझीच असायला हवीत. घराबाहेरच्या इतर लोकांबरोबर त्यांची भागीदारी असायला नको.
17Let them be for yourself alone, Not for strangers with you.
18म्हणून तुझ्या बायकोबरोबर सुखी राहा. तरुणपणी जिच्याबरोबर लग्न केलेस तिलाच उपभोग.
18Let your spring be blessed. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.
19ती सुंदर हरिणीसारखी आहे. गोजिरवाण्या हरिणाच्या पाडसासारखी आहे. तिचे प्रेम तुझे समाधान करो. तू तिच्या प्रेमात बंदीवान हो.
19A loving doe and a graceful deer� Let her breasts satisfy you at all times. Be captivated always with her love.
20दुसऱ्याच्या बायकोकडून तू असा बंदीवान होऊ नकोस. तुला दुसऱ्याच्या बायकोच्या प्रेमाची गरज नाही.
20For why should you, my son, be captivated with an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another?
21तू जे काही करतोस ते परमेश्वराला स्पष्ट दिसते तू कुठे जातोस ते परमेश्वर बघतो.
21For the ways of man are before the eyes of Yahweh. He examines all his paths.
22दुष्ट माणसाची पापे त्याला जाळ्यात पकडतील त्याची पापे दोरीप्रमाणे त्याला पकडतील.
22The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.
23तो दुष्ट माणूस मरेल कारण त्याने शिस्त नाकारली. तो स्वत: च्या मूर्खपणामुळेच अडकला जाईल.
23He will die for lack of instruction. In the greatness of his folly, he will go astray.
