1शहाणी स्त्री तिच्या शहाणपणाचा उपयोग तिचे घर जसे असायला हवे तसे करण्यासाठी करते. पण मूर्ख बाई तिच्या मूर्खपणामुळे घराचा सत्यानाश करते.
1Every wise woman builds her house, But the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
2जो माणूस योग्य रीतीने जगतो तो परमेश्वराला मान देतो. पण जो माणूस इमानदार नसतो तो परमेश्वराचा तिरस्कार करतो.
2He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, But he who is perverse in his ways despises him.
3मूर्ख व गर्विष्ठ माणसाचे शब्द त्याच्यावर संकटे आणतात. पण शहाण्या माणसाचे शब्द त्याला वाचवतात.
3The fool's talk brings a rod to his back, But the lips of the wise protect them.
4जर काम करायला गायी नसल्या तर धान्याचे कोठार रिकामे राहील. लोक गायीच्या शक्तीचा उपयोग चांगले पीक काढण्यासाठी करुन घेऊ शकतात.
4Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, But much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5सत्यावादी माणूस खोटे बोलत नाही. तो चांगला साक्षीदार असतो. पण ज्या माणसावर विश्वास टाकणे शक्य नसते तो कधीच खरे सांगत नाही. तो वाईट साक्षीदार असतो.
5A truthful witness will not lie, But a false witness pours out lies.
6जे लोक देवाची थट्टा करतात ते ज्ञान मिळवण्याचा प्रयत्न करतील, पण त्यांना ते कधीच मिळत नाही. ज्यांचा देवावर विश्वास आहे ते खरोखर शहाणे आहेत. त्यांच्याजवळ ज्ञान सहजपणे येते.
6A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn't find it, But knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.
7मूर्खाशी मैत्री करु नका. तो तुम्हाला काहीही शिकवू शकणार नाही.
7Stay away from a foolish man, For you won't find knowledge on his lips.
8हुशार लोक शहाणे असतात. कारण ते ज्या गोष्टी करतात त्याचा काळजीपूर्वक विचार करतात. पण मूर्ख लोक मूर्ख असतात कराण आपण दुसऱ्यांना फसवून जगू शकतो असे त्यांना वाटत असते.
8The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, But the folly of fools is deceit.
9मूर्ख माणूस त्याने केलेल्या वाईट गोष्टींसाठी किंमत मोजण्याच्या कल्पनेला हसतो. पण चांगले लोक त्यासाठी क्षमा मिळवण्यासाठी खूप प्रयत्न करतात.
9Fools mock at making atonement for sins, But among the upright there is good will.
10जर एखादा माणूस दु:खी असला तर फक्त त्यालाच ते दु:ख जाणवत असते. त्याचप्रमाणे जर माणूस आनंदी असला तर तो आनंद जाणवू शकेल असा तो एकटाच असतो.
10The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; He will not share these with a stranger.
11वाईट माणसाच्या घराचा नाश होईल. पण चांगल्या माणसाचे घर सदैव राहील.
11The house of the wicked will be overthrown, But the tent of the upright will flourish.
12लोकांना वाटत असते हाच मार्ग बरोबर आहे. पण तो मार्ग फक्त मरणाकडे नेतो.
12There is a way which seems right to a man, But in the end it leads to death.
13माणूस जरी हसत असला तरी तो मनातून दु:खी असू शकतो. आणि हसल्यावरही खिन्नता तिथे तशीच राहाते.
13Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, And mirth may end in heaviness.
14दुष्ट माणसांना त्यांनी केलेल्या चुकांबद्दल पूर्ण किंमत मोजावी लागेल. आणि चांगल्या माणसांना चांगल्या कृत्यांबद्दल बक्षीस मिळेल.
14The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; Likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.
15मूर्ख जे ऐकतो त्यावर विश्वास ठेवतो. पण शहाणा माणूस प्रत्येक गोष्टीचा काळजीपूर्वक विचार करतो.
15A simple man believes everything, But the prudent man carefully considers his ways.
16शहाणा माणूस परमेश्वराचा आदर करतो आणि वाईटापासून दूर राहतो. पण मूर्ख विचार न करता गोष्टी करतो. तो लक्षपूर्वक गोष्टी करत नाही.
16A wise man fears, and shuns evil, But the fool is hotheaded and reckless.
17जो माणूस चटकन् रागावतो तो मूर्खासारख्या गोष्टी करतो. शहाणा मनुष्य सहनशील असतो.
17He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, And a crafty man is hated.
18मूर्खांना त्यांच्या मूर्खपणाबद्दल शिक्षा होते. पण शहाण्यांना ज्ञानाचा लाभ होतो.
18The simple inherit folly, But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19चांगले लोक वाईटांबरोबर लढताना जिंकतील, वाईटांना त्यांच्यापुढे नतमस्तक होणे भाग पडेल.
19The evil bow down before the good, And the wicked, at the gates of the righteous.
20गरीबाला मित्र नसतात, शेजारीही नसतो. पण श्रीमंताला खूप मित्र असतात.
20The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, But the rich person has many friends.
21जो शेजाऱ्याला पाण्यात पाहातो, तो पाप करतो. जर सुखी व्हायचे असेल तर त्या गरीबांशी दयाळू राहा.
21He who despises his neighbor sins, But blessed is he who has pity on the poor.
22जो दुष्ट गोष्टींच्या योजना आखतो तो चूक करतो. पण जो चांगल्या गोष्टी करण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो त्याच्याजवळ प्रेम करणारे आणि त्याच्यावर विश्वास ठेवणारे मित्र असतात.
22Don't they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
23जर तुम्ही कष्ट केलेत तर तुम्हाला लागणाऱ्या गोष्टी तुमच्या जवळ असतील. पण जर तुम्ही काही न करता फक्त बोलतच राहिलात तर तुम्ही गरीबच राहाल.
23In all hard work there is profit, But the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.
24शहाण्यांना संपत्तीचे बक्षीस मिळते. पण मूर्खांना मूर्खपणाचे बक्षीस मिळते.
24The crown of the wise is their riches, But the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
25जो माणूस खरे सांगतो तो इतरांना मदत करतो. जो खोटे बोलतो तो इतरांना दु:ख देतो.
25A truthful witness saves souls, But a false witness is deceitful.
26जो परमेश्वराचा आदर करतो तो सुरक्षित असतो आणि त्याची मुलेही सुरक्षितपणे जगतात.
26In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, And he will be a refuge for his children.
27परमेश्वराबद्दलची आदर युक्त भीती खरे जीवन देते. त्यामुळे माणूस मरणाच्या जाळ्यातून वाचतो.
27The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, Turning people from the snares of death.
28जर राजा खूप लोकांवर राज्य करत असला तर तो महान असतो. पण जर तिथे लोकच नसले तर त्या राजाची काहीच किंमत नसते.
28In the multitude of people is the king's glory, But in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
29सहनशील माणूस खूप हुशार असतो. ज्या माणसाला चटकन् राग येतो तो आपण मूर्ख आहोत, हे सिध्द करतो.
29He who is slow to anger has great understanding, But he who has a quick temper displays folly.
30जर एखाद्याच्या मनात शांती असली तर त्याचे शरीर निरोगी असते. पण मत्सर त्याच्या शरीरात आजार निर्माण करतो.
30The life of the body is a heart at peace, But envy rots the bones.
31जो माणूस गरीबांवर संकटे आणतो तो आपण देवाचा आदर करीत नाही हे दाखवतो. देवानेच दोघांनाही निर्माण केले आहे. पण जर एखादा गरीबांशी कनवाळूपणे वागला तर तो देवाचा आदर करतो हे दिसून येते.
31He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, But he who is kind to the needy honors him.
32संकटाच्यावेळी दुष्ट माणसाचा पराभव होतो. पण चांगली माणसे मरणाच्या दारातही विजयी होतात.
32The wicked is brought down in his calamity, But in death, the righteous has a refuge.
33शहाणा माणूस नेहमी शहाण्या गोष्टींचा विचार करतो. पण मूर्खाला शहाणपणाबद्दल काहीही माहिती नसते.
33Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, And is even made known in the inward part of fools.
34चांगलपणा देशाला महान बनवतो. पण पाप कुठल्याही लोकांना लाज आणते.
34Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people.
35राजाजवळ जेव्हा शहाणे नेते असतात तेव्हा राजा आनंदी असतो. पण मूर्ख नेत्यांवर राजा रागावतो.
35The king's favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, But his wrath is toward one who causes shame.
