1जर एखाद्याला चांगले व्हायचे असेल तर त्याची चूक दाखवल्यावर त्याला राग यायला नको. ज्याला चूक दाखवलेली आवडत नाही तो मूर्ख असतो.
1Whoever loves correction loves knowledge, But he who hates reproof is stupid.
2परमेश्वर चांगल्या माणसांबरोबर आनंदी असतो. पण परमेश्वर दुष्ट माणसाला अपराधी ठरवतो.
2A good man shall obtain favor from Yahweh, But he will condemn a man of wicked devices.
3दुष्ट माणसे कधीही सुरक्षित नसतात. पण चांगली माणसे सुरक्षित आणि निर्धास्त असतात.
3A man shall not be established by wickedness, But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
4नवरा चांगल्या बायकोबद्दल आनंदी आणि अभिमानी असतो. पण जर बाई आपल्या नवऱ्याला लाज आणत असेल. तर ती त्याच्या शरीरातल्या आजारा सारखी असते.
4A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, But a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones.
5चांगले लोक त्यांनी ज्या योजना आखलेल्या असतात त्यात न्यायी आणि इमानी असतात. पण दुष्टांनी सांगितलेल्या गोष्टींवर विश्वास ठेवू नका.
5The thoughts of the righteous are just, But the advice of the wicked is deceitful.
6दुष्ट लोक दुसऱ्यांना दु:ख देण्यासाठी आपल्या शब्दांचा वापर करतात. पण चांगल्या माणसाचे शब्द एखाद्याला संकटापासून वाचवू शकतात.
6The words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood, But the speech of the upright rescues them.
7दुष्ट माणसांचा नाश होतो आणि त्यांचा मागमूसही राहात नाही. पण चांगल्या माणसाची आठवण मात्र तो गेल्यानंतरही येत राहाते.
7The wicked are overthrown, and are no more, But the house of the righteous shall stand.
8लोक विद्वानाची स्तुती करतात पण ते मूर्खांचा आदर करीत नाहीत.
8A man shall be commended according to his wisdom, But he who has a warped mind shall be despised.
9खूप मोठा माणूस नसूनही खूप काम करणे हे खायला काही नसताना मोठेपणाचा आव आणण्यापेक्षा चांगले असते.
9Better is he who is lightly esteemed, and has a servant, Than he who honors himself, and lacks bread.
10चांगला माणूस त्याच्या प्राण्यांची काळजी घेतो. पण दुष्ट माणूस दयाळू असू शकत नाही.
10A righteous man regards the life of his animal, But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11जो शेतकरी आपल्या शेतात कष्ट करतो त्याच्याकडे पुरेसे अन्न असते. पण जो माणूस फालतू गोष्टीत वेळ घालवतो तो मूर्ख असतो.
11He who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, But he who chases fantasies is void of understanding.
12दुष्ट माणसाजवळ नेहमी चुकीच्या गोष्टी करायला असतात. पण चांगल्या माणसाजवळ जी शक्ती असते ती मुळाप्रमाणे खोल गेलेली असते.
12The wicked desires the plunder of evil men, But the root of the righteous flourishes.
13दुष्ट माणूस मूर्ख गोष्टी करतो. स्वत:च शब्दात अडकतो. पण चांगला माणूस त्या प्रकारच्या संकटातून सुटतो.
13An evil man is trapped by sinfulness of lips, But the righteous shall come out of trouble.
14जो चांगल्या गोष्टी सांगतो त्याबद्दल त्याला बक्षीस मिळते. त्याचप्रमाणे तो जे काम करतो ते त्याला लाभ मिळवून देते.
14A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth. The work of a man's hands shall be rewarded to him.
15मूर्ख माणसाला नेहमी स्वत:ची पध्दत सर्वश्रेष्ठ वाटते. पण विद्वान माणूस दुसरे लोक जे सांगतात तेही ऐकतो.
15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who is wise listens to counsel.
16मूर्ख माणसाला फार लवकर राग येतो. पण हुशार माणूस कुणी काही चुकीचे बोलले तर चटकन् क्षमा करतो.
16A fool shows his annoyance the same day, But one who overlooks an insult is prudent.
17जर एखादा माणूस खरे बोलत असेल तर तो ज्या गोष्टी सांगतो त्यातही तो प्रामाणिक असतो. पण जर एखादा खोटं बोलत असेल तर त्याचे बोलणे संकटाकडे नेते.
17He who is truthful testifies honestly, But a false witness lies.
18जर एखादा माणूस विचार न करता बोलत असेल तर ते शब्द तलवारीसारखे लागतात. पण शहाणा माणूस काळजी पूर्वक बोलतो. त्याचे शब्द दु:खावर फुंकर मारतात.
18There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword, But the tongue of the wise heals.
19जर माणूस खोटे बोलला तर त्याचे शब्द लगेचच वाया जातात. पण सत्य मात्र सदैव राहाते.
19Truth's lips will be established forever, But a lying tongue is only momentary.
20दुष्ट लोक नेहमी संकटे आणतात. पण जे लोक शांततेसाठी काम करतात ते आनंदी असतात.
20Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, But joy comes to the promoters of peace.
21चांगल्या लोकांवर दुदैंव कोसळत नाही. पण दुष्टांवर मात्र अनेक संकटे येतात.
21No mischief shall happen to the righteous, But the wicked shall be filled with evil.
22परमेश्वर खोटं बोलणाऱ्यांचा तिरस्कार करतो. पण परमेश्वर खरे बोलणाऱ्या लोकांबरोबर आनंदी असतो.
22Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, But those who do the truth are his delight.
23हुशार माणूस त्याला जे माहीत आहे ते सर्व सांगत नाही. पण मूर्ख माणूस त्याला जे माहीत आहे ते सर्व सांगतो आणि तो मूर्ख आहे हे दाखवतो.
23A prudent man keeps his knowledge, But the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness.
24जे लोक खूप काम करतात त्यांना इतर कामगारांवर देखरेख करण्याचे काम देतात. पण आळशी माणसाला गुलामासारखे राबावे लागते.
24The hands of the diligent ones shall rule, But laziness ends in slave labor.
25काळजी माणसाचे सुख हिरावून घेते. पण प्रेमळ शब्द त्याला आनंदी करु शकतात.
25Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, But a kind word makes it glad.
26चांगला माणूस आपले मित्र काळजीपूर्वक निवडतो. पण दुष्ट माणूस नेहमी चुकीचे मित्र निवडतो.
26A righteous person is cautious in friendship, But the way of the wicked leads them astray.
27आळशी माणूस त्याला हव्या असलेल्या गोष्टी मागे जाणार नाही पण जो माणूस खूप कष्ट करतो त्याच्याकडे श्रीमंती येते.
27The slothful man doesn't roast his game, But the possessions of diligent men are prized.
28जर तुम्ही योग्य रीतीने जगलात तर तुम्हाला खरे जीवन मिळेल. सदैव जगण्याचा तोच मार्ग आहे.
28In the way of righteousness is life; In its path there is no death.
