राजा अर्तहशश्तच्या कारकीर्दीच्या विसाव्या वर्षी नीसान महिन्यात राजासमोर द्राक्षारस आणला गेला. मी तो उचलला आणि राजाला दिला. या पूर्वी मी कधी राजाच्या सहवासात असताना उदास नव्हतो पण यावेळी मात्र कष्टी होतो.

It happened in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, when wine was before him, that I took up the wine, and gave it to the king. Now I had not been before sad in his presence.
