1एफ्राइमच्या लोकांनी सैन्याची जमवाजमव केली आणि नदी ओलांडून ते साफोन येथे गेले. ते इफ्ताहला म्हणाले, “अम्मोन्यांशी लढायला गेलास तेव्हा तू आम्हाला मदतीसाठी का बोलावले नाहीस? आता आम्ही तुझ्यासकट तुझ्या घराला आग लावतो.”
1The men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said to Jephthah, Why did you pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didn't call us to go with you? we will burn your house on you with fire.
2इफ्ताह म्हणाला, “अम्मोनी लोक आपल्याला वरचेवर त्रास देत होते. म्हणून मी माझ्या सैन्यासह त्यांच्यावर चालून गेलो. तेव्हा मी तुम्हाला बोलावले होते पण तुम्ही कुमक पाठवली नाही.
2Jephthah said to them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, you didn't save me out of their hand.
3तुमची मदत मिळण्याची चिन्हे दिसेनात तेव्हा मी माझा जीव धोक्यात घातला. नदी उतरुन मी अम्मोन्यांशी लढायला गेलो. त्यांना नेस्तनाबूत करण्यात परमेश्वराचे मला साहाय्य झाले. आता तुम्ही आज माझ्याशी लढायला का आला आहात?”
3When I saw that you didn't save me, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and Yahweh delivered them into my hand: why then are you come up to me this day, to fight against me?
4मग इफ्ताहने गिलादमधील लोकांना एकत्र केले. त्यांनी एफ्राईमशी युध्द केले. ते युध्दात उतरले कारण एफ्राईम लोकांनी गिलादांचा अपमान केला होता. ते म्हणाले होते, “गिलादांनो, तुम्ही म्हणजे एफ्राईमांनी जीवदान दिलेले पळपुटे आहात. तुम्हाला स्वत:चा प्रदेश सुध्दा नाही. तुमच्यातील काही भाग एफ्राईमांचा तर काही मनश्शेचा आहे.” गिलादांनी एफ्राईमांचा पराभव केला.
4Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said, You are fugitives of Ephraim, you Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim, and in the midst of Manasseh.
5एफ्राईम देशाकडे जाणारे यार्देन नदीचे उतार गिलादांनी ताब्यात घेतले. कोणीही जिवंत राहिलेला एफ्राईम माणूस आला आणि नदी ओलांडून जाऊ देण्याची विनंती करायला लागला की गिलाद विचारत, “तू एफ्राईमचा आहेस का?” तो म्हणे, “नाही”
5The Gileadites took the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites. It was so, that when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said, Let me go over, the men of Gilead said to him, Are you an Ephraimite? If he said, No;
6मग ते त्याला “शिब्बोलेथ” हा शब्द उच्चारायला सांगत. एफ्राईम लोकांना तो नीट म्हणता येत नसे. तो म्हणे, “सिब्बोलेथ” तेव्हा हा माणूस एफ्राईम असलेयाचे त्यांच्या ध्यानात येई. नदीच्या उतारापाशी त्याला मारून टाकत. अशाप्रकारे त्यांनी बेचाळीस हजार एफ्राईम माणसे मारली.
6then said they to him, Say now Shibboleth; and he said Sibboleth; for he couldn't manage to pronounce it right: then they laid hold on him, and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. There fell at that time of Ephraim forty-two thousand.
7इफ्ताह सहा वर्षे इस्राएल लोकांचा न्यायाधीश होता. त्याचे निधन झाल्यावर गिलादमधील त्याच्या गावी त्याचे दफन करण्यात आले.
7Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.
8मग बेथलहेममधील इब्सान याने न्यायाधीश म्हणून इस्राएल लोकांचे काम पाहिले.
8After him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.
9त्याला तीस मुलगे आणि तीस मुली होत्या त्याने आपल्या तीसही मुलींना गोत्राबाहेर लग्ने जमवण्यास सांगितले आणि सर्व मुलांसाठी तशाच बाहेरच्या मुली केल्या. इब्सान सात वर्षे न्यायाधीश होता.
9He had thirty sons; and thirty daughters he sent abroad, and thirty daughters he brought in from abroad for his sons. He judged Israel seven years.
10त्याच्या निधनानंतर बेथलहेममध्थे त्याचे दफन करण्यात आले.
10Ibzan died, and was buried at Bethlehem.
11त्यानंतर जबुलून वंशातील एलोन इस्राएलांचा न्यायाधीश झाला. तो त्या जागी दहा वर्षे होता.
11After him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.
12मग तो वारला तेव्हा जबुलूनमधील अयालोन येथे त्याच्यावर अंत्यसंस्कार करण्यात आले.
12Elon the Zebulunite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
13एलोन नंतर हिल्लेलचा मुलगा अब्दोन न्यायाधीश झाला तो पिराथोनचा होता.
13After him Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel.
14त्याला चाळीस मुलगे आणि तीस नातू होते. ते सत्तर गाढवांवर स्वार होत. अब्दोन आठ वर्षे इस्राएलांचा न्यायाधीश होता.
14He had forty sons and thirty sons' sons, who rode on seventy donkey colts: and he judged Israel eight years.
15पुढे त्याच्या मृत्यूनंतर पिराथोन येथे त्याला पुरण्यात आले. एफ्राइम प्रांतातील अमालेक्यांच्या डोंगराळ प्रदेशात पिराथोन हे ठिकाण आहे.
15Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill-country of the Amalekites.
