मग पिलाताने येशूला नेऊन फटके मारण्याची आज्ञा दिली.

So Pilate then took Jesus, and flogged him.
2
आणि शिपायांनी काट्यांचा मुगुट गुंफून तो त्याच्या डोक्यात घातला, व त्याला जांभळे वस्त्र घातले.

The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown, and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.
3
ते त्याच्याजवळ वारंवार येऊन त्याला म्हणाले,’ ‘हे यहूद्यांच्या राजा, तुझा जयजयकार असोे!’ आणि त्यांनी त्याच्या तोंडावर मारले.

They kept saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" and they kept slapping him.

पुन्हा एकदा पिलात बाहेर आला आणि यहूद्यांना म्हणाला, “पाहा! मी त्याला बाहेर तुमच्याकडे आणत आहे, तुम्हांला हे समजावे म्हणून की, मला त्याच्यावर दोषारोप ठेवायला कोणतेच कारण सापडत नाही.”

Then Pilate went out again, and said to them, "Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him."

जेव्हा येशू काट्यांचा मुगुट व जांभळी वस्त्रे घालून बाहेर आला, तेव्हा पिलात त्यांना म्हणाला, “हा पहा तो मनुष्य!”

Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. Pilate said to them, "Behold, the man!"

मुख्य याजक व त्यांचे रक्षक त्याला पाहताक्षणीच मोठ्याने ओरडले, “त्याला वधस्तंभावर खिळा! वधस्तंभावर खिळा!” पण पिलाताने उत्तर दिले, “तुम्ही त्याला घ्या व वधस्तंभावर खिळा. माझ्या दृष्टीने त्याच्यावर आरोप ठेवणयास कोणतेही कारण मला दिसत नाही.”

When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted, saying, "Crucify! Crucify!" Pilate said to them, "Take him yourselves, and crucify him, for I find no basis for a charge against him."

यहूद्यांनी जोर देऊन म्हटले, “आम्हांला नियमशास्त्र आहे, आणि त्या नियमशास्त्राप्रमाणे त्याने मेलेच पाहिजे. कारण त्याने स्वत:देवाचा पुत्र असल्याचा दावा केला.”

The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God."

जेव्हा पिलाताने हे ऐकले, तेव्हा तो अधिकच घाबरला.

When therefore Pilate heard this saying, he was more afraid.

आणि तो आत राजवाड्यात परत गेला. येशूला त्याने विचारले, “तू कोठून आला आहेस?” पण येशूने त्याला उत्तर दिले नाही.

He entered into the Praetorium again, and said to Jesus, "Where are you from?" But Jesus gave him no answer.
10
पिलात म्हणाला, “तू माझ्याशी बोलण्यास नकार देतोस काय? तुला वधस्तंभावर खिळण्याची किंवा मुक्त करण्याची ताकद मला आहे, हे तुला समजत नाही का?”

Pilate therefore said to him, "Aren't you speaking to me? Don't you know that I have power to release you, and have power to crucify you?"
11
येशूने उत्तर दिले, “जर वरून अधिकार देण्यात आला नसता, तर तुला माझ्यावर अधिकार नसता. म्हणून ज्याने मला तुझ्या स्वाधीन केले तो महान पापाचा दोषी आहे.”

Jesus answered, "You would have no power at all against me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who delivered me to you has greater sin."
12
तेव्हापासून पिलाताने येशूला सोडण्याचा प्रयत्न केला, पण यहूदी मोठमोठयाने ओरडत राहिले, “जर तुम्ही या माणसाला जाऊ दिले, तर तुम्ही कैसराचे मित्र नाही. जो कोणी स्वत: राजा असल्याचा दावा करतो, तो कैसराला विरोध करतो.”

At this, Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews cried out, saying, "If you release this man, you aren't Caesar's friend! Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar!"

जेव्हा पिलाताने हे ऐकले, तेव्हा त्याने येशूला बाहेर आणले आणि फरसबंदी नावाची जागा, जिला इब्री भोषेत ‘गब्बाथा’ म्हणतात तेथे तो न्यायासनावर बसला.

When Pilate therefore heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called "The Pavement," but in Hebrew, "Gabbatha."

तो तर वल्हांडणाची तयारी करण्याचा दिवस असून दुपारची केळ झाली होती.

Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, at about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, "Behold, your King!"

पिलात त्या यहूद्यांना म्हणाला, “पहा हा तुमचा राजा.” यहूदी ओरडले, “त्याला घेऊन जा! त्याला घेऊन जा! आणि वधस्तंभावर खिळून मारा!” पिलाताने त्यांना विचारले, “मी तुमच्या राजाला वधस्तंभीद्यावे काय?” मुख्य याजकांनी उत्तर दिले, “आम्हांला कैसराशिवाय दुसरा कोणी राजा नाही.”

They cried out, "Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar!"

मग त्याने त्याला वधस्तंभी खिळण्यासाठी त्यांच्या हाती दिले.मग शिपायांनी येशूचा ताबा घेतला.

So then he delivered him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led him away.
17
येशूने स्वत:चा वधस्तंभ वाहिला. तो बाहेर कवटीची जागा म्हटलेल्या ठिकाणी गेला. (इब्री भाषेत त्याला गुलगुथा म्हणतात.)

He went out, bearing his cross, to the place called "The Place of a Skull," which is called in Hebrew, "Golgotha,"

गुलगुथा येथे त्यांनी येशूला वधस्तंभावर खिळ्यांनी ठोकले. त्यांनी आणखी दोन मनुष्यांनासुद्वा वधस्तंभावर खिळले. त्या दोघांना त्यांनी येशूच्या दोन्ही बाजूंना खिळले व मध्ये येशूला खिळले.

where they crucified him, and with him two others, on either side one, and Jesus in the middle.

आणि पिलाताने एक वाक्य लिहिले आणि ते वधस्तंभावर लावले. त्यावर असे लिहिले होते की, “येशू नासरेथकर - यहूद्यांचा राजा”

Pilate wrote a title also, and put it on the cross. There was written, "JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS."

ती पाटी भाषेत लिहिली होती. पुष्कळ यहूदी लोकांनी ती पाटी वाचली, कारण येशूला जेथे वधस्तंभावर देण्यात आले होते ते ठिकाण शहराच्या जवळ होते. तसेच ते लॅटीन, ग्रीक, आरामी भाषेतही होते.

Therefore many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek.

यहुद्यांच्या मुख्य याजकांनी पिलाताला विरोध केला. ते म्हणाले, ‘यहूद्यांचा राजा’ असे लिहू नका, ‘तर हा मनुष्य यहूदी लोकांचा राजा आहे’ “असा दावा करतो, असे लिहा.”

The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, "Don't write, 'The King of the Jews,' but, 'he said, I am King of the Jews.'"

पिलाताने म्हटले, “मी जे लिहिले ते लिहिले.”

Pilate answered, "What I have written, I have written."

जेव्हा शिपायांनी येशूला वधस्तंभावर खिळले, तेव्हा त्यांनी त्याची वस्त्रे घेतली. आणि चौघात ती वाटून घतली. फक्त अंतर्वस्त्रे ठेवली. हा पोशाख वरपासून खालपर्यंत पूर्ण विणलेला होता. त्याला शिवलेले नव्हते.

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the coat. Now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24
म्हणून ते एकमेकांस म्हणाले, “हा आपण फाडू नये, तर यासाठी चिठ्ठ्या टाकून कोणाला मिळतो ते ठरवू या.” हे यासाठी घडले की, पवित्र शास्त्रात जे लिहिले होते ते पूर्ण व्हावे. “त्यांनी माझी वस्त्रे आपआपसांत वाटून घेतली आणि माझ्या वस्त्रासाठी चिठ्ठ्या टाकल्या.”

Then they said to one another, "Let's not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be," that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which says, "They parted my garments among them. For my cloak they cast lots." Therefore the soldiers did these things.

येशूच्या वधस्तंभाशोजारी त्याची आई, त्याच्या आईची बहीण, क्लोपाची आई मरीया आणि मरीया मग्दालिया उभ्या होत्या.

But there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

जेव्हा येशूने त्याच्या आईला तेथे पाहिले. आणि ज्या शिष्यावर त्याची प्रीति होती तो जवळच उभ होता, तेव्हा तो त्याच्या आईला म्हणाला, “आई, हा तुझा मुलगा आहे,”

Therefore when Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold your son!"
27
आणि त्या शिष्याला येशू म्हणाला, “ही तुझी आई आहे.” म्हणून त्या दिवसापासून या शिष्याने तिला आपल्या घरी नेले.

Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour, the disciple took her to his own home.
28
नंतर, हे ओळखून की आता सर्व पूर्ण झाले आहे, आणि पवित्र शास्त्रातील वचनांची परिपूर्ती व्हावी म्हणून, येशू म्हणाला, “मला तहान लागली आहे.”

After this, Jesus, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I am thirsty."

तेथे एक आंब भरून ठेवलेले भांडे होते, म्हणून त्यांनी बोळा आंबेत बुडवून भरून एजोबाच्या काठीवर ठेवून त्याच्या तोंडला लावला.

Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth.
30
येशू आंब घेतल्यावर म्हणाला, “पूर्ण झाले आहे.” मग त्याने आपले डोके लववून आपला आत्मा सोडून दिला.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, "It is finished." He bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.

तो तयारीचा दिवस होता व दुसऱ्या दिवशी विशेष शब्बाथाचा दिवस होता. शब्बाथ दिवशी शरीरे वधस्तंभावर राहू नयेत अशी यहूदी लोकांची इच्छा होती. त्यांनी पिलाताला पाय तोडण्याची आणि शरीरे वधस्तंभावरून खाली घेण्याविषयी विचारले,

Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn't remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

म्हणून शिपायांनी येऊन येशूबरोबर वधस्तंभी खिळलेल्या पहिल्याचे व नंतर दुसऱ्याचे पाय मोडून टाकले.

Therefore the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him;
33
पण जेव्हा ते येशूकडे आले. तेव्हा त्यांना आढळून आले की, तो अगोदरच मेला आहे. तेव्हा त्यांनी त्याचे पाय मोडले नाहीत.

but when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was already dead, they didn't break his legs.
34
तरी शिपायांपैकी एकाने त्याच्या कुशीत भाला भोसकला, तेव्हा लगेच रक्त आणि पाणी बाहेर निघाले.

However one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35
ज्या मनुष्याने हे पाहिले, त्याने साक्ष दिली आहे आणि त्याची साक्ष खरी आहे. त्याला माहीत आहे की, तो खरे बोलतो व तो साक्ष देतो यासाठी की, तुम्ही विश्वास धरावा.

He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.
36
या गोष्टी अशासाठी घडल्या की, पवित्र शास्त्राची परिपूर्ती व्हावी: “त्याचे एकही हाड मोडणार नाही.”

For these things happened, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, "A bone of him will not be broken."
37
आणि दुसऱ्या शास्रभागात म्हटले आहे: “ज्याला त्यांनी भोसकले त्याला ते पाहतील.”

Again another Scripture says, "They will look on him whom they pierced."

नंतर अरिमथाई येथील योसेफाने पिलातला येशूचे शरीर मागितले. योसेफ हा येशूचा शिष्य होता, पण गुप्त रीतीने, कारण त्याला यहूद्यांची भीति वाटत होती. पिलाताच्या परवानगीने तो आला व शरीर घेऊन गेला.

After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus' body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body.

त्याच्याबरोबर निकदेम होता. याच मनुष्याने रात्रीच्या वेळी येशूची भेट घेतली होती. निकदेम शंभर पौंडगंधरस व अगरूघेऊन आला.

Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.
40
मग त्यांनी येशूचे शरीर घेतले आणि यहूदी लोकांच्या प्रेत पुरण्याच्या रीतीप्रमाणे सुगंधित द्रव्यासहित तागांनी ते गुंडाळले.

So they took Jesus' body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.

जेथे त्याला वधस्तंभी मारले होते तेथे एक बाग होती. आणि त्या बागेत एक नवीन थडगे होते, व त्या थडग्यात आतापर्यंत कोणालाच ठेवलेले नव्हते.

Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden a new tomb in which no man had ever yet been laid.

तो यहूद्यांच्या सणाच्या पूर्वतयारीचा दिवस असल्याने व ते थडगे जवळ असल्याने त्यांनी येशूला तेथेच ठेवले.

Then because of the Jews' Preparation Day (for the tomb was near at hand) they laid Jesus there.
