1नंतर ईयोबने उत्तर दिले:“जर माझ्या दु:खाचे वजन करता आले आणि माझ्या कष्टांना वजनाच्या काट्यात तोलता आले तर तुम्ही माझ्या दु:खाची कल्पना करु शकाल.
1Then Job answered,

2"Oh that my anguish were weighed, And all my calamity laid in the balances!
3माझे दु:ख समुद्रातल्या वाळूपेक्षा जड आहे. म्हणूनच मी मूर्खासारखी बडबड करतो असे वाटते.
3For now it would be heavier than the sand of the seas, Therefore have my words been rash.
4त्या सर्वशक्तीमान देवाचे बाण माझ्यात आहेत. माझ्या आत्म्याला त्या बाणांच्या विषाची जाणीव होते. देवाची भयानक शस्त्रे माझ्या विरुध्द सज्ज आहेत.
4For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, My spirit drinks up their poison. The terrors of God set themselves in array against me.
5काहीही वाईट घडलेले नसते तेव्हा तुझे शब्द सहजपणे बोलता येतात. रानटी गाढवसुध्दा खायला गवत असले की कसली तक्रार करीत नाही. आणि गायसुध्दा तिला तिचा चारा मिळाला की मुकाट असते.
5Does the wild donkey bray when he has grass? Or does the ox low over his fodder?
6अन्न मिठाशिवाय चांगले लागत नाही आणि अंड्यातल्या पांढऱ्या भागाला काही चव नसते.
6Can that which has no flavor be eaten without salt? Or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
7मी त्याला स्पर्शही करु शकत नाही. तसल्या बेचव अन्नाची मला शिसारी येते. तुमचे शब्दही मला आता तसेच वाटायला लागले आहेत.
7My soul refuses to touch them; They are as loathsome food to me.
8“मी जे मागेन ते मला मिळायला पाहिजे असे मला वाटते. मला जे हवे ते देवाने द्यायला पाहिजे असे मला वाटते.
8"Oh that I might have my request; That God would grant the thing that I long for!
9मला देवाच्या हातून मरण हवे. त्याने मला चिरडून टाकावे.
9Even that it would please God to crush me; That he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
10आणि जेव्हा तो मला मारेल तेव्हा मला एका गोष्टीचे समाधान मिळेल, एका गोष्टीबद्दल मी आनंदी असेन, या सगळ्या दु:खातही मी पवित्र परमेश्वराच्या आज्ञेचा कधीही भंग केला नाही.
10Be it still my consolation, Yes, let me exult in pain that doesn't spare, That I have not denied the words of the Holy One.
11“माझी शक्ती आता संपली आहे, त्यामुळे जगण्याची इच्छा माझ्यात नाही. माझे काय होणार आहे याची मला काहीच कल्पना नाही. त्यामुळे ज्याच्यासाठी धीर धरावा असे काही कारण उरलेले नाही.
11What is my strength, that I should wait? What is my end, that I should be patient?
12मी पाषाणासारखा शक्तीमान नाही. माझे शरीर पितळेचे बनलेले नाही.
12Is my strength the strength of stones? Or is my flesh of brass?
13आता स्वत:ला सावरायची ताकद माझ्यात नाही. का? कारण यश माझ्यापासून हिरावून घेण्यात आले आहे.
13Isn't it that I have no help in me, That wisdom is driven quite from me?
14“एखाद्यावर संकट आले तर त्याच्या मित्रांनी त्याला दया दाखवावी आणि आपला मित्र सर्वशक्तीमान देवापासून दूर गेला तरी माणसाने मित्राशी निष्ठा ठेवली पाहिजे.
14"To him who is ready to faint, kindness should be shown from his friend; Even to him who forsakes the fear of the Almighty.
15पण मित्रांनो, तुम्ही मात्र निष्ठावान नाही. मी तुमच्यावर विसंबून राहू शकत नाही. जे कधी वाहतात, कधी वाहात नाहीत अशा ओढ्यासारखे तुम्ही आहात. ओढे जेव्हा हिमाने आणि
15My brothers have dealt deceitfully as a brook, As the channel of brooks that pass away;
16वितळणाऱ्या बफर्ाने गच्च होतात व दुथडी भरुन वाहू लागतात तसे तुम्ही आहात.
16Which are black by reason of the ice, In which the snow hides itself:
17जेव्हा हवामान उष्ण आणि कोरडे होते तेव्हा पाणी वाहात नाही आणि ओढे नाहीसे होतात.
17In the dry season, they vanish. When it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
18व्यापारी त्याची नागमोडी वळणे शोधत वाळवंटात जातात परंतु ते दिसेनासे झालेले असतात.
18The caravans that travel beside them turn aside; They go up into the waste, and perish.
19तेमाच्या व्यापाऱ्यांनी पाणी शोधले. शबाच्या प्रवाशांनी आशेने त्याचा शोध घेतला.
19The caravans of Tema looked, The companies of Sheba waited for them.
20त्यांना पाणी सापडण्याची खात्री होती परंतु त्यांची निराशा झाली.
20They were distressed because they were confident; They came there, and were confounded.
21आता तुम्ही त्या ओढ्यासारखे आहात. तुम्ही माझ्या संकटांना पाहून घाबरता.
21For now you are nothing. You see a terror, and are afraid.
22मी तुम्हाला मदत मागितली का? नाही. पण तुम्ही आपणहून मला उपदेश केला.
22Did I say, 'Give to me?' Or, 'Offer a present for me from your substance?'
23‘माझे शत्रूपासून रक्षण करा! क्रूर लोकांपासून मला वाचवा!’ असे मी तुम्हाला म्हटले का?
23Or, 'Deliver me from the adversary's hand?' Or, 'Redeem me from the hand of the oppressors?'
24“आता तुम्ही मला शिकवा म्हणजे मी शांत होईन. माझी काय चूक झाली ते मला दाखवा.
24"Teach me, and I will hold my peace; Cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
25प्रामाणिक शब्द नेहमीच सामर्थ्यशाली असतात. परंतु तुमचे वादविवाद काहीच सिध्द करु शकत नाहीत.
25How forcible are words of uprightness! But your reproof, what does it reprove?
26माझ्यावर टीका करण्याचा तुमचा उद्देश आहे का? तुम्ही आणखी कंटाळवाणे बोलणार आहात का?
26Do you intend to reprove words, Seeing that the speeches of one who is desperate are as wind?
27पोरक्या मुलांच्या वस्तू जिंकून घेण्यासाठी तुम्ही जुगार खेळायलाही तयार आहात. तुम्ही तुमच्या मित्रालाही विकून टाकाल.
27Yes, you would even cast lots for the fatherless, And make merchandise of your friend.
28पण आता माझ्याकडे लक्षपूर्वक पाहा. मी तुमच्याशी खोटे बोलणार नाही.
28Now therefore be pleased to look at me, For surely I shall not lie to your face.
29तुम्ही आता तुमचा विचार बदला. अन्यायी होऊ नका. पुन्हा विचार करा. मी काहीही चूक केलेली नाही.
29Please return. Let there be no injustice; Yes, return again, my cause is righteous.
30मी खोटे बोलत नाही आणि खऱ्या-खोट्यातला फरक मला कळतो.”
30Is there injustice on my tongue? Can't my taste discern mischievous things?
