मग मिस्पा येथे, एकांतात कारेहाचा मुलगा योहानान हा गदल्याशी बोलला तो गदल्याला म्हणाला, “मी नथन्याचा मुलगा इश्माएल ह्याला मारतो तू मला परवानगी दे. ही गोष्ट कोणालाही कळणार नाही. इश्माएल तुला मारणार आहे, पण आम्ही त्याला तसे करु देणार नाही. कारण तसे झाल्यास तुझ्याभोवती गोळा झालेल्या सर्व यहूदी लोकांना पुन्हा इतर देशात पांगावे लागेल. ह्याचाच अर्थ यहूदाचे उरलेले थोडे शिल्लक राहणार नाही.”

Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Please let me go, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: why should he take your life, that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?
