अशा रीतीने इस्राएलाने मिसरच्या प्रवासास सुरवात केली. प्रथम तो बैरशेबास गेला. तेथे त्याने आपला बाप इसहाक याच्या देवाची उपासना केली व देवाला अर्पणे वाहिली.

Israel traveled with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac.

रात्री देव स्वप्नात दर्शन देऊन इस्राएलाशी बोलला. तो म्हणाला, “याकोबा, याकोबा!”आणि इस्राएलाने उत्तर दिले, “हा मी आहे, काय आज्ञा?”

God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, "Jacob, Jacob!" He said, "Here I am."

देव म्हणाला “मी देव आहे, तुझ्या बापाचा देव आहे; पाहा, मिसर देशास जाण्यास तू भिऊ नको
3
He said, "I am God, the God of your father. Don't be afraid to go down into Egypt; for there I will make of you a great nation.
4
जाताना मी तुझ्याबरोबर येईन, आणि तुझ्या संततीस मी मिसरमधून पुन्हा बाहेर आणीन; तू मिसरमध्ये मरण पावशील परंतु मरण्याच्या वेळी योसेफ तुझ्याजवळ असेल; तू मरण पावशील तेव्हा तो आपल्या हातांनी तुझे डोळे झाकील.”

I will go down with you into Egypt. I will also surely bring you up again. Joseph will close your eyes."

मग इस्राएल (याकोब) बैरशेबा सोडून मिसरच्या प्रवासास निघाला. त्याच्या मुलांनी आपला बाप, आपल्या बायका व मुले या सर्वांना फारोने पाठवलेल्या गाडयातून मिसरला आणले.

Jacob rose up from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel carried Jacob, their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

त्याच प्रमाणे त्यांनी आपली शेरडेमेंढरे गुरेढोरे आणि कनान देशात त्यांनी मिळवलेले सर्वकाही मिसरला नेले. अशा रीतीने इस्राएल आपल्या कुटुंबातील सर्वांना म्हणजे आपले मुलगे व नातू, आपल्या मुली व नाती या सर्वांना घेऊन मिसरला गेला.

They took their cattle, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt - Jacob, and all his seed with him,

his sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and he brought all his seed with him into Egypt.

इस्राएलाचे जे मुलगे आणि नातवंडे त्याच्याबरोबर मिसरला गेले त्याची नावे अशी-याकोबाचा पहिला मुलगा रऊबेन होता.

These are the names of the children of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.

रऊबेनाचे मुलगे; हलोक, पल्लू, हेस्रोन, व कार्मी

The sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
10
शिमोनाचे मुलगे; यमुवेल, यामीन, ओहाद, याकोन, सोहार आणि कनानी स्त्रीपासून झालेला मुलगा शौल.

The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.

लेवीचे मुलगे: गेर्षेन, कहाथ व मरारी.

The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

यहूदाचे मुलगे; एर, ओनान, शेला, पेरेस व जेरह; यापैकी एर व ओनान हे कनान देशात मरण पावले; पेरेसाचे मुलगे हेस्रोन व हामूल.

The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

इस्साखाराचे मुलगे; तोला, पुवा, योब व शिम्रोन.

The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Iob, and Shimron.

जबुलूनाचे मुलगे; सेरेद, एलोन व याहलेल.

The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.

हे सहा मुलगे व मुलगी दीना ही लेकरे याकोबापासून लेआला पदन-अरामात झाली; त्या कुटुंबात तेहतीस जण होते.

These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram, with his daughter Dinah. All the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty-three.

गाद याचे मुलगे: सिफयोन, हगी, शूनी, एसबोन, एरी, अरोदी व अरेली.

The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.

आशेराचे मुलगे: इम्ना, इश्बा, इश्वी व बरीया; आणि त्याची बहीण सेराह; बरीयाचे मुलगे हेबेर व मालकीएल.

The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, Beriah, and Serah their sister. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.

जिल्पा ह्या बायकोपासून झालेले हे सगळे याकोबाचे मुलगे होते. (लाबानने आपली मुलगी लीआ हिला जिल्पा दिली होती.) एकंदर त्या कुटुंबात सोळा माणसे होती.

These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah, his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob, even sixteen souls.

योसेफ व बन्यामीन हे याकोबाची बायको राहेल हिचे मुलगे होते.

The sons of Rachel, Jacob's wife: Joseph and Benjamin.

योसेफास मिसर देशातील ओन नगराचा याजक पोटीफरा याची मुलगी आसनथ हिच्या पोटी मनश्शे व एफ्राईम हे मुलगे झाले.

To Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, bore to him.

बन्यामीनाचे मुलगे; बेला, बेकेर, आशबेल, गेरा, नामान, एही, रोष, मुप्पीम, हुप्पीम आणि आर्द.

The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.

योसेफ व बन्यामीन, याकोबापासून राहेलीस झाले व त्यांना झालेली संतती मिळून ते सर्व चौदा जण ह्या कुटुंबात होते.

These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.

दान याचा मुलगा हुशीम होता

The son of Dan: Hushim.

नफतालीचे मुलगे; यासहेल, गुनी, येसेर आणि शिल्लेम हे होते.

The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.

लाबानाने आपली मुलगी राहेल हिला दिलेल्या बिल्हेचे याकोबापासून झालेले मुलगे दान व नफताली आणि त्यांना झालेली संतती असे हे सात जण त्या कुटुम्बात होते.

These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel, his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob: all the souls were seven.

याकोबाच्या वंशातील जी माणसे मिसरमध्ये गेली ती याकोबाच्या मुलांच्या बायका सोडून सहासष्ट जण होती.

All the souls who came with Jacob into Egypt, who were his direct descendants, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were sixty-six.
27
योसेफास मिसर देशात झालेले दोन मुलगे मिळून एकंदर याकोबाच्या घराण्यातले सत्तर जण मिसर देशात होते.

The sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, who came into Egypt, were seventy.

याकोबाने प्रथम यहूदाला योसेफाकडे पाठवले; यहूदा गोशेन प्रांतात योसेफाकडे गेला त्यानंतर याकोब व त्याच्या परिवारातील सर्व मंडळी यहूदाच्या मागे गोशेन प्रांतात गेली.

He sent Judah before him to Joseph, to show the way before him to Goshen, and they came into the land of Goshen.

आपला बाप जवळ येत आहे असे योसेफास समजले; तेव्हा तो आपला रथ तयार करुन आपला बाप इस्राएल याच्या भेटीस गोशेन प्रांतात त्याला सामोरा गेला. योसेफाने आपल्या बापास पाहिले तेव्हा त्याने त्याच्या गळ्यास मिठी मारली व त्याच्या गळ्यातगळ घालून तो बराच वेळ रडला.

Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel, his father, in Goshen. He presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.
30
मग इस्राएल योसेफाला म्हणाला, “आता मात्र मी शांतीने मरण पावेन; मी प्रत्यक्ष तुझे तोंड पाहिले आहे आणि तू जिवंत आहेस हे मला समजले आहे.”

Israel said to Joseph, "Now let me die, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive."

मग योसेफ आपल्या भावांना व आपल्या बापाच्या घरच्या सर्वांस म्हणाला, “मी जाऊन फारोला सांगतो की ‘माझे भाऊ व माझ्या बापाच्या घरातील सर्व मंडळी हे कनान देश सोडून येथे माझ्याकडे आले आहेत;

Joseph said to his brothers, and to his father's house, "I will go up, and speak with Pharaoh, and will tell him, 'My brothers, and my father's house, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

माझ्या बापाच्या घरचे सर्वजण मेंढपाळ आहेत. ते सतत शेरडेमेंढरे व गुरुढोरे पाळीत आले आहेत. ते त्यांची शेरडेमेंढरे व गुरुढोरे पाळीत आले आहेत. ते त्यांची शेरडेमेंढरे, गुरेढोरे व त्यांचे तेथे जे काही होते ते सर्व घेऊन आले आहेत.’

These men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of cattle, and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.'

जेव्हा फारो तुम्हाला बोलावून विचारील, ‘तुम्ही काय काम धंदा करता?’

It will happen, when Pharaoh summons you, and will say, 'What is your occupation?'
34
तेव्हा तुम्ही असे सांगा, ‘आम्ही सर्व मेंढपाळ आहोत. दुभती जनावरे पाळून आम्ही उपजिविका करतो. हा आमचा पिढीजात धंदा आहे. आमच्या आधी आमचे वाडवडील हाच धंदा करीत होते.’ मग फारो तुम्हाला गोशेन प्रातांत राहू देईल. मिसरच्या लोकांना मेंढपाळ आवडत नाहीत; म्हणून गोशेन प्रांतात राहणे तुमच्या फायद्याचे आहे.”

that you shall say, 'Your servants have been keepers of cattle from our youth even until now, both we, and our fathers:' that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians."
