दिवसा त्यांना मार्ग दाखविण्यासाठी उंच ढगाची व रात्री उंच अग्निस्तंभाची योजना करून परमेश्वर त्यांच्या पुढे चालत असे. लोकांना रात्रीही प्रवास करता यावा यासाठी तो ढग त्यांना रात्री प्रकाश देत असे.
