तीमथ्याला आपल्याबरोबर प्रवासाला घेऊन जावे अशी पौताची इच्छा होती. पण त्या भागात राहणाऱ्या यहूदी लोकांना माहीत होते की, तीमथ्याचे वडील ग्रीक (यहूदीतर) आहेत. म्हणून पौलाने यहूदी लोकांचे समाधान होण्यांसाठी तीमथ्याची सुंता केली.

Paul wanted to have him go out with him, and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts; for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
