1दावीद आणि सैन्यातील अधिकारी यांनी मिळून आसाफच्या मुलांना एका खास कामासाठी निवडले. हेमान व यदूथून ही ती मुले. वीणा, सतारी आणि झांजा ही वाद्ये, वाजवून देवाचा संदेश देणे असे त्यांच्या कामाचे स्वरुप होते. हे काम करणाऱ्या लोकांची यादी पुढीलप्रमाणे:
1Moreover, David and the captains of the host set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of those who did the work according to their service was:
2आसाफाच्या कुटुंबातून जक्कूर, योसेफ, नथन्या आणि अशेराला. दावीदाने आसाफला संदेश कथनासाठी निवडले आणि आसाफने आपल्या या मुलांना.
2of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph, under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied after the order of the king.
3यदूथूनच्या घराण्यातून गदल्या, सारी, यशया, हशब्या व मत्तिथ्या हे सहाजण. यदूथूनने यांना आपल्या हाताखाली घेतले. यदूथून वीणा वाजवून संदेश देऊन, परमेश्वराचे उपकारस्मरण आणि स्तवन करत असे.
3Of Jeduthun; the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising Yahweh.
4सेवा करायला हेमानचे वंशज होते ते असे बुक्कीया: मत्तन्या, उज्जियेल, शबएल, यरीमोथ, हनन्या, हनानी, अलियाथा, गिद्दल्ती, रोममती एजेर, याश्बकाशा, मल्लोथी, होथीर आणि महजियोथ.
4Of Heman; the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth.
5हे सर्व हेमानचे मुलगे. हेमान हा राजा दावीदाचा द्रष्टा होता. देवाने हेमानला वंशवृध्दीचे वचन दिले होते. त्यानुसार हेमानला भरपूर मुलेबाळे झाली. देवाने हेमानला चौदा मुलगे आणि तीन मुली दिल्या.
5All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात गीते गाण्यासाठी हेमानने आपल्या सर्व मुलांना हाताशी धरले. ही मुले झांजा, सतारी आणि वीणा वाजवत, आणि देवाची सेवा करत. राजा दावीदाने यांना निवडले होते.
6All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of Yahweh, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the order of the king.
7लेवी घराण्यातील हे लोक आणि त्यांचे नातेवाईक गायनकलेत निपुण होते. परमेश्वराची स्तुती गीते गाणारी अशी 288 माणसे होती.
7The number of them, with their brothers who were instructed in singing to Yahweh, even all who were skillful, was two hundred eighty-eight.
8प्रत्येकाने कोणते काम करायचे हे ठरवायला चिठ्ठया टाकल्या जात. त्यांना एकसारखीच वागणूक मिळे. लहान थोर, गुरु-शिष्य असा त्यांच्यात भेदभाव नव्हता.
8They cast lots for their offices, all alike, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.
9पहिली चिठ्ठी आसाफ (योसेफ) याची निघाली. त्यांची मुले आणि नातलग यांच्यातून बारा जणांची निवड झाली.दुसरी गादल्याची त्याची मुले आणि भाऊबंद यांच्यातून बाराजणांना घेतले.
9Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah; he and his brothers and sons were twelve:
10जक्कूरचे मुलगे आणि भाऊबंद यांच्यामधून, तिसऱ्या चिठ्ठीनुसार बाराजण घेतले.
10the third to Zaccur, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
11चवथी चिठ्ठी इस्त्रीची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि आप्त यांच्यामधून बारा.
11the fourth to Izri, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
12पाचवी नथन्याची. त्याच्या मुलां-नातलगामधून बारा.
12the fifth to Nethaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
13सहावी चिठ्ठी बुक्कीयाची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि भाऊबंद यांमधून बारा.
13the sixth to Bukkiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
14सातवी यशरेलाची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि भाऊबंद यांमधून बारा.
14the seventh to Jesharelah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
15यशयाची आठवी. या चिठ्ठीनुसार मुलगे आणि भाऊबंद यांमधून बारा.
15the eighth to Jeshaiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
16नववी मत्तन्याची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि आप्त यांमधून बारा.
16the ninth to Mattaniah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
17दहावी शिमोची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि नातलग यांमधून बारा.
17the tenth to Shimei, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
18अकरावी अजरेलाची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि नातलाग यांमधून बारा.
18the eleventh to Azarel, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
19बारवी हशब्याची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि त्याचे नातलग यांमधून बारा.
19the twelfth to Hashabiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
20तेरावी शूबाएलाची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि नातलग यांमधून बारा.
20for the thirteenth, Shubael, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
21चोदावी मतिथ्याची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि आप्त यांमधून बारा.
21for the fourteenth, Mattithiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
22पंधरावी यरेमोथची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि नातेवाईक यांमधून बारा.
22for the fifteenth to Jeremoth, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
23सोळावी हनन्याची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि भाऊबंद यांमधून बारा.
23for the sixteenth to Hananiah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
24सतरावी याश्बाकाशाची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि नातलग यांमधून बारा.
24for the seventeenth to Joshbekashah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
25अठरावी हनानीची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि नातलग यांमधून बारा.
25for the eighteenth to Hanani, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
26एकुणिसावी मल्लोथीची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि आप्त यांमधून बारा.
26for the nineteenth to Mallothi, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
27विसावी अलीयाथची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि नातलग यांमधून बारा.
27for the twentieth to Eliathah, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
28एकविसावी होथीरची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि नातलग यांमधून बारा.
28for the one and twentieth to Hothir, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
29बाविसाठी गिद्दल्तीची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि आप्त यांमधून बारा.
29for the two and twentieth to Giddalti, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
30तेविसावी महजियाथची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि भाऊबंद यांमधून बारा.
30for the three and twentieth to Mahazioth, his sons and his brothers, twelve:
31चोविसावी रोममती एजेरची. त्याचे मुलगे आणि नातलग यांमधून बारा.
31for the four and twentieth to Romamtiezer, his sons and his brothers, twelve.
