1ശലോമോന്റെ ഒരു ആരോഹണഗീതം
1A Song of Ascents. By Solomon. Unless Yahweh builds the house, They labor in vain who build it. Unless Yahweh watches over the city, The watchman guards it in vain.
2യഹോവ വീടു പണിയാതിരുന്നാല്‍ പണിയുന്നവര്‍ വൃഥാ അദ്ധ്വാനിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ പട്ടണം കാക്കാതിരുന്നാല്‍ കാവല്‍ക്കാരന്‍ വൃഥാ ജാഗരിക്കുന്നു.
2It is vain for you to rise up early, To stay up late, Eating the bread of toil; For he gives sleep to his loved ones.
3നിങ്ങള്‍ അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേലക്കുന്നതും നന്നാ താമസിച്ചു കിടപ്പാന്‍ പോകുന്നതും കഠിനപ്രയത്നം ചെയ്തു ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നതും വ്യര്‍ത്ഥമത്രേ; തന്റെ പ്രിയന്നോ, അവന്‍ അതു ഉറക്കത്തില്‍ കൊടുക്കുന്നു.
3Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward.
4മക്കള്‍, യഹോവ നലകുന്ന അവകാശവും ഉദര ഫലം, അവന്‍ തരുന്ന പ്രതിഫലവും തന്നേ.
4As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the children of youth.
5വീരന്റെ കയ്യിലെ അസ്ത്രങ്ങള്‍ എങ്ങനെയോ അങ്ങനെയാകുന്നു യൌവനത്തിലെ മക്കള്‍.
5Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They won't be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
6അവയെക്കൊണ്ടു തന്റെ ആവനാഴിക നിറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പുരുഷന്‍ ഭാഗ്യവാന്‍ ; നഗരവാതില്‍ക്കല്‍വെച്ചു ശത്രുക്കളോടു സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവര്‍ ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകയില്ല.
