1രാജാവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യില്‍ നീര്‍ത്തോടുകണക്കെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളേടത്തേക്കൊക്കെയും അവന്‍ അതിനെ തിരിക്കുന്നു.
1The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires.
2മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴി ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു ചൊവ്വായിത്തോന്നുന്നു; യഹോവയോ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.
2Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But Yahweh weighs the hearts.
3നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവേക്കു ഹനനയാഗത്തെക്കാള്‍ ഇഷ്ടം.
3To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice.
4ഗര്‍വ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും അഹങ്കാരഹൃദയവും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ദീപവും പാപം തന്നേ.
4A high look, and a proud heart, The lamp of the wicked, is sin.
5ഉത്സാഹിയുടെ വിചാരങ്ങള്‍ സമൃദ്ധിഹേതുകങ്ങള്‍ ആകുന്നു; ബദ്ധപ്പാടുകാരൊക്കെയും ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിലേക്കത്രേ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നതു.
5The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; And everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.
6കള്ളനാവുകൊണ്ടു ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നതു പാറിപ്പോകുന്ന ആവിയാകുന്നു; അതിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവര്‍ മരണത്തെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.
6Getting treasures by a lying tongue Is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.
7ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സാഹസം അവര്‍ക്കും നാശഹേതുവാകുന്നു; ന്യായം ചെയ്‍വാന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും മനസ്സില്ലല്ലോ.
7The violence of the wicked will drive them away, Because they refuse to do what is right.
8അകൃത്യഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്നവന്റെ വഴി വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നിര്‍മ്മലന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയോ ചൊവ്വുള്ളതു തന്നേ.
8The way of the guilty is devious, But the conduct of the innocent is upright.
9ശണ്ഠകൂടുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പൊതുവീട്ടില്‍ പാര്‍ക്കുംന്നതിനെക്കാള്‍ മേല്‍പുരയുടെ ഒരു കോണില്‍ പാര്‍ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.
9It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, Than to share a house with a contentious woman.
10ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മനസ്സു ദോഷത്തെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു ദയ തോന്നുന്നതുമില്ല.
10The soul of the wicked desires evil; His neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.
11പരിഹാസിയെ ശിക്ഷിച്ചാല്‍ അല്പബുദ്ധി ജ്ഞാനിയായ്തീരും; ജ്ഞാനിയെ ഉപദേശിച്ചാല്‍ അവന്‍ പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.
11When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom; When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.
12നീതിമാനായവന്‍ ദുഷ്ടന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്മേല്‍ ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ നാശത്തിലേക്കു മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.
12The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, And brings the wicked to ruin.
13എളിയവന്റെ നിലവിളിക്കു ചെവി പൊത്തിക്കളയുന്നവന്‍ താനും വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കും; ഉത്തരം ലഭിക്കയില്ല.
13Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, He will also cry out, but shall not be heard.
14രഹസ്യത്തില്‍ ചെയ്യുന്ന ദാനം കോപത്തെയും മടിയില്‍ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന സമ്മാനം ഉഗ്രകോപത്തെയും ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
14A gift in secret pacifies anger; And a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.
15ന്യായം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതു നീതിമാന്നു സന്തോഷവും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്‍ക്കും ഭയങ്കരവും ആകുന്നു.
15It is joy to the righteous to do justice; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
16വിവേകമാര്‍ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുനടക്കുന്നവന്‍ മൃതന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ വിശ്രമിക്കും.
16The man who wanders out of the way of understanding Shall rest in the assembly of the dead.
17ഉല്ലാസപ്രിയന്‍ ദരിദ്രനായ്തീരും; വീഞ്ഞും തൈലവും പ്രിയപ്പെടുന്നവന്‍ ധനവാനാകയില്ല.
17He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man: He who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.
18ദുഷ്ടന്‍ നീതിമാന്നു മറുവിലയാകും; ദ്രോഹി നേരുള്ളവര്‍ക്കും പകരമായ്തീരും.
18The wicked is a ransom for the righteous; The treacherous for the upright.
19ശണ്ഠയും ദുശ്ശീലവുമുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോടുകൂടെ പാര്‍ക്കുംന്നതിലും നിര്‍ജ്ജനപ്രദേശത്തു പോയി പാര്‍ക്കുംന്നതു നല്ലതു.
19It is better to dwell in a desert land, Than with a contentious and fretful woman.
20ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ പാര്‍പ്പിടത്തില്‍ വിലയേറിയ നിക്ഷേപവും തൈലവും ഉണ്ടു; മൂഢനോ അവയെ ദുര്‍വ്യയം ചെയ്തുകളയുന്നു.
20There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; But a foolish man swallows it up.
21നീതിയും ദയയും പിന്തുടരുന്നവന്‍ ജീവനും നീതിയും മാനവും കണ്ടെത്തും.
21He who follows after righteousness and kindness Finds life, righteousness, and honor.
22ജ്ഞാനി വീരന്മാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തില്‍ കയറുകയും അതിന്റെ ആശ്രയമായ കോട്ടയെ ഇടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
22A wise man scales the city of the mighty, And brings down the strength of its confidence.
23വായും നാവും സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവന്‍ തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കഷ്ടങ്ങളില്‍നിന്നു സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.
23Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.
24നിഗളവും ഗര്‍വ്വവും ഉള്ളവന്നു പരിഹാസി എന്നു പേര്‍; അവന്‍ ഗര്‍വ്വത്തിന്റെ അഹങ്കാരത്തോടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു.
24The proud and haughty man, "scoffer" is his name; He works in the arrogance of pride.
25മടിയന്റെ കൊതി അവന്നു മരണഹേതു; വേലചെയ്‍വാന്‍ അവന്റെ കൈകള്‍ മടിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
25The desire of the sluggard kills him, For his hands refuse to labor.
26ചിലര്‍ നിത്യം അത്യാഗ്രഹത്തോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ലോഭിക്കാതെ കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
26There are those who covet greedily all the day long; But the righteous give and don't withhold.
27ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ഹനനയാഗം വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു; അവന്‍ ദുരാന്തരത്തോടെ അതു അര്‍പ്പിച്ചാല്‍ എത്ര അധികം!
27The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: How much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!
28കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷി നശിച്ചുപോകും; ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകേള്‍ക്കുന്നവന്നോ എപ്പോഴും സംസാരിക്കാം.
28A false witness will perish, And a man who listens speaks to eternity.
29ദുഷ്ടന്‍ മുഖധാര്‍ഷ്ട്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവനോ തന്റെ വഴി നന്നാക്കുന്നു.
29A wicked man hardens his face; But as for the upright, he establishes his ways.
30യഹോവെക്കെതിരെ ജ്ഞാനവുമില്ല, ബുദ്ധിയുമില്ല, ആലോചനയുമില്ല.
30There is no wisdom nor understanding Nor counsel against Yahweh.
31കുതിരയെ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തേക്കു ചമയിക്കുന്നു; ജയമോ യഹോവയുടെ കൈവശത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നു.
31The horse is prepared for the day of battle; But victory is with Yahweh.
