1വീഞ്ഞു പരിഹാസിയും മദ്യം കലഹക്കാരനും ആകുന്നു; അതിനാല്‍ ചാഞ്ചാടി നടക്കുന്ന ആരും ജ്ഞാനിയാകയില്ല.
1Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler; Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
2രാജാവിന്റെ ഭീഷണം സിംഹഗര്‍ജ്ജനം പോലെ; അവനെ കോപിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന്‍ തന്റെ പ്രാണനോടു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്യുന്നു.
2The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion: He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
3വ്യവഹാരം ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു പുരുഷന്നു മാനം; എന്നാല്‍ ഏതു ഭോഷനും ശണ്ഠകൂടും.
3It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife; But every fool will be quarreling.
4മടിയന്‍ ശീതംനിമിത്തം ഉഴാതിരിക്കുന്നു; കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു അവന്‍ ഇരക്കും; ഒന്നും കിട്ടുകയുമില്ല.
4The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ ആലോചന ആഴമുള്ള വെള്ളം; വിവേകമുള്ള പുരുഷനോ അതു കോരി എടുക്കും.
5Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; But a man of understanding will draw it out.
6മിക്ക മനുഷ്യരും തങ്ങളോടു ദയാലുവായ ഒരുത്തനെ കാണും; എന്നാല്‍ വിശ്വസ്തനായ ഒരുത്തനെ ആര്‍ കണ്ടെത്തും?
6Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, But who can find a faithful man?
7പരമാര്‍ത്ഥതയില്‍ നടക്കുന്നവന്‍ നീതിമാന്‍ ; അവന്റെ ശേഷം അവന്റെ മക്കളും ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്‍.
7A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.
8ന്യായാസനത്തില്‍ ഇരിക്കുന്ന രാജാവു തന്റെ കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു സകലദോഷത്തെയും പേറ്റിക്കളയുന്നു.
8A king who sits on the throne of judgment Scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചു പാപം ഒഴിഞ്ഞു നിര്‍മ്മലനായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആര്‍ക്കും പറയാം?
9Who can say, "I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin?"
10രണ്ടുതരം തൂക്കവും രണ്ടുതരം അളവും രണ്ടും ഒരുപോലെ യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു.
10Differing weights and differing measures, Both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.
11ബാല്യത്തിലെ ക്രിയകളാല്‍ തന്നേ ഒരുത്തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി വെടിപ്പും നേരുമുള്ളതാകുമോ എന്നു അറിയാം.
11Even a child makes himself known by his doings, Whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
12കേള്‍ക്കുന്ന ചെവി, കാണുന്ന കണ്ണു, ഇവ രണ്ടും യഹോവ ഉണ്ടാക്കി.
12The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, Yahweh has made even both of them.
13ദരിദ്രനാകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിദ്രാപ്രിയനാകരുതു; നീ കണ്ണു തുറക്ക; നിനക്കു വേണ്ടുവോളം ആഹാരം ഉണ്ടാകും.
13Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty; Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങുന്നവന്‍ ചീത്തചീത്ത എന്നു പറയുന്നു; വാങ്ങി തന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോകുമ്പോഴോ അവന്‍ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നു.
14"It's no good, it's no good," says the buyer; But when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15പൊന്നും അനവധി മുത്തുകളും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; പരിജ്ഞാനമുള്ള അധരങ്ങളോ വിലയേറിയ ആഭരണം.
15There is gold and abundance of rubies; But the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
16അന്യന്നു വേണ്ടി ജാമ്യം നിലക്കുന്നവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തുകൊള്‍ക; അന്യജാതിക്കാരന്നു വേണ്ടി ഉത്തരവാദി ആകുന്നവനോടു പണയം വാങ്ങുക.
16Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; And hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
17വ്യാജത്താല്‍ നേടിയ ആഹാരം മനുഷ്യന്നു മധുരം; പിന്നത്തേതിലോ അവന്റെ വായില്‍ ചരല്‍ നിറയും.
17Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, But afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18ഉദ്ദേശങ്ങള്‍ ആലോചനകൊണ്ടു സാധിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല്‍ ഭരണസാമര്‍ത്ഥ്യത്തോടെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്ക.
18Plans are established by advice; By wise guidance you wage war!
19നുണയനായി നുടക്കുന്നവന്‍ രഹസ്യം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു; ആകയാല്‍ വിടുവായനോടു ഇടപെടരുതു.
19He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; Therefore don't keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
20ആരെങ്കിലും അപ്പനെയോ അമ്മയെയോ ദുഷിച്ചാല്‍ അവന്റെ വിളകൂ കൂരിരുട്ടില്‍ കെട്ടുപോകും.
20Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21ഒരു അവകാശം ആദിയില്‍ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു കൈവശമാക്കാം; അതിന്റെ അവസാനമോ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കയില്ല.
21An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning, Won't be blessed in the end.
22ഞാന്‍ ദോഷത്തിന്നു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യുമെന്നു നീ പറയരുതു; യഹോവയെ കാത്തിരിക്ക; അവന്‍ നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും.
22Don't say, "I will pay back evil." Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you.
23രണ്ടുതരം തൂക്കം യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു; കള്ളത്തുലാസും കൊള്ളരുതു.
23Yahweh detests differing weights, And dishonest scales are not pleasing.
24മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഗതികള്‍ യഹോവയാല്‍ നിയമിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു; പിന്നെ മനുഷ്യന്നു തന്റെ വഴി എങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിക്കാം?
24A man's steps are from Yahweh; How then can man understand his way?
25“ഇതു നിവേദിതം” എന്നു തത്രപ്പെട്ടു നേരുന്നതും നേര്‍ന്നശേഷം നിരൂപിക്കുന്നതും മനുഷ്യന്നു ഒരു കണി.
25It is a snare to a man make a rash dedication, And later reconsider his vows.
26ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള രാജാവു ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ പേറ്റിക്കളയുന്നു; അവരുടെ മേല്‍ അവന്‍ മെതിവണ്ടി ഉരുട്ടുന്നു.
26A wise king winnows out the wicked, And drives the threshing wheel over them.
27മനുഷ്യന്റെ ആത്മാവു യഹോവയുടെ ദീപം; അതു ഉദരത്തിന്റെ അറകളെ ഒക്കെയും ശോധനചെയ്യുന്നു.
27The spirit of man is Yahweh's lamp, Searching all his innermost parts.
28ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും രാജാവിനെ കാക്കുന്നു; ദയകൊണ്ടു അവന്‍ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെ ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
28Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.
29യൌവനക്കാരുടെ ശക്തി അവരുടെ പ്രശംസ; വൃദ്ധന്മാരുടെ നര അവരുടെ ഭൂഷണം.
29The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30ഉദരത്തിന്റെ അറകളിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്ന തല്ലും പൊട്ടിപ്പോകത്തക്ക അടിയും ദോഷത്തെ അടിച്ചുവാരിക്കളയുന്നു.
30Wounding blows cleanse away evil, And beatings purge the innermost parts.
