1വികടാധരം ഉള്ള മൂഢനെക്കാള്‍ പരമാര്‍ത്ഥതയില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന ദരിദ്രന്‍ ഉത്തമന്‍ .
1Better is the poor who walks in his integrity Than he who is perverse in his lips and is a fool.
2പരിജ്ഞാനമില്ലാത്ത മനസ്സു നന്നല്ല; തത്രപ്പെട്ടു കാല്‍ വെക്കുന്നവനോ പിഴെച്ചുപോകുന്നു.
2It isn't good to have zeal without knowledge; Nor being hasty with one's feet and missing the way.
3മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഭോഷത്വം അവന്റെ വഴിയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയമോ യഹോവയോടു മുഷിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.
3The foolishness of man subverts his way; His heart rages against Yahweh.
4സമ്പത്തു സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെ വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എളിയവനോ കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
4Wealth adds many friends, But the poor is separated from his friend.
5കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷിക്കു ശിക്ഷ വരാതിരിക്കയില്ല; ഭോഷകു നിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്‍ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയുമില്ല.
5A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who pours out lies shall not go free.
6പ്രഭുവിന്റെ പ്രീതി സമ്പാദിപ്പാന്‍ പലരും നോക്കുന്നു; ദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു ഏവനും സ്നേഹിതന്‍ .
6Many will entreat the favor of a ruler, And everyone is a friend to a man who gives gifts.
7ദരിദ്രന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെല്ലാം അവനെ പകെക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാര്‍ എത്ര അധികം അകന്നുനിലക്കും? അവന്‍ വാക്കു തിരയുമ്പോഴേക്കു അവരെ കാണ്മാനില്ല.
7All the relatives of the poor shun him: How much more do his friends avoid him! He pursues them with pleas, but they are gone.
8ബുദ്ധി സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നവന്‍ തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; ബോധം കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നവന്‍ നന്മ പ്രാപിക്കും.
8He who gets wisdom loves his own soul. He who keeps understanding shall find good.
9കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷിക്കു ശിക്ഷ വരാതിരിക്കയില്ല; ഭോഷകു നിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്‍ നശിച്ചുപോകും.
9A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who utters lies shall perish.
10സുഖജീവനം ഭോഷന്നു യോഗ്യമല്ല; പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെമേല്‍ കര്‍ത്തൃത്വം നടത്തുന്നതോ ദാസന്നു എങ്ങനെ?
10Delicate living is not appropriate for a fool, Much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11വിവേകബുദ്ധിയാല്‍ മനുഷ്യന്നു ദീര്‍ഘക്ഷമവരുന്നു; ലംഘനം ക്ഷമിക്കുന്നതു അവന്നു ഭൂഷണം.
11The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger. It is his glory to overlook an offense.
12രാജാവിന്റെ ക്രോധം സിംഹഗര്‍ജ്ജനത്തിന്നു തുല്യം; അവന്റെ പ്രസാദമോ പുല്ലിന്മേലുള്ള മഞ്ഞുപോലെ.
12The king's wrath is like the roaring of a lion, But his favor is like dew on the grass.
13മൂഢനായ മകന്‍ അപ്പന്നു നിര്‍ഭാഗ്യം; ഭാര്യയുടെ കലമ്പല്‍ തീരാത്ത ചോര്‍ച്ചപോലെ.
13A foolish son is the calamity of his father. A wife's quarrels are a continual dripping.
14ഭവനവും സമ്പത്തും പിതാക്കന്മാര്‍ വെച്ചേക്കുന്ന അവകാശം; ബുദ്ധിയുള്ള ഭാര്യയോ യഹോവയുടെ ദാനം.
14House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, But a prudent wife is from Yahweh.
15മടി ഗാഢനിദ്രയില്‍ വീഴിക്കുന്നു; അലസചിത്തന്‍ പട്ടണികിടക്കും.
15Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep. The idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16കല്പന പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവന്‍ പ്രാണനെ കാക്കുന്നു; നടപ്പു സൂക്ഷിക്കാത്തവനോ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കും.
16He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is contemptuous in his ways shall die.
17എളിയവനോടു കൃപ കാട്ടുന്നവന്‍ യഹോവേക്കു വായ്പ കൊടുക്കുന്നു; അവന്‍ ചെയ്ത നന്മെക്കു അവന്‍ പകരം കൊടുക്കും.
17He who has pity on the poor lends to Yahweh; He will reward him.
18പ്രത്യാശയുള്ളേടത്തോളം നിന്റെ മകനെ ശിക്ഷിക്ക; എങ്കിലും അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന്‍ തക്കവണ്ണം ഭാവിക്കരുതു.
18Discipline your son, for there is hope; Don't be a willing party to his death.
19മുന്‍ കോപി പിഴ കൊടുക്കേണ്ടിവരും; നീ അവനെ വിടുവിച്ചാല്‍ അതു പിന്നെയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടിവരും.
19A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty, For if you rescue him, you must do it again.
20പിന്നത്തേതില്‍ നീ ജ്ഞാനിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ആലോചന കേട്ടു പ്രബോധനം കൈക്കൊള്‍ക.
20Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter end.
21മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ പല വിചാരങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടു; യഹോവയുടെ ആലോചനയോ നിവൃത്തിയാകും.
21There are many plans in a man's heart, But Yahweh's counsel will prevail.
22മനുഷ്യന്‍ തന്റെ മനസ്സുപോലെ ദയ കാണിക്കും; ഭോഷകു പറയുന്നവനെക്കാള്‍ ദരിദ്രന്‍ ഉത്തമന്‍ .
22That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness. A poor man is better than a liar.
23യഹോവാഭക്തി ജീവഹേതുകമാകുന്നു; അതുള്ളവന്‍ തൃപ്തനായി വസിക്കും; അനര്‍ത്ഥം അവന്നു നേരിടുകയില്ല.
23The fear of Yahweh leads to life, then contentment; He rests and will not be touched by trouble.
24മടിയന്‍ തന്റെ കൈ തളികയില്‍ പൂത്തുന്നു; വായിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരികയില്ല.
24The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; He will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25പരിഹാസിയെ അടിച്ചാല്‍ അല്പബുദ്ധി വിവേകം പഠിക്കും; ബുദ്ധിമാനെ ശാസിച്ചാല്‍ അവന്‍ പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.
25Flog a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; Rebuke one who has understanding, and he will gain knowledge.
26അപ്പനെ ഹേമിക്കയും അമ്മയെ ഔടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന്‍ ലജ്ജയും അപമാനവും വരുത്തുന്ന മകനാകുന്നു.
26He who robs his father and drives away his mother, Is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.
27മകനേ, പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന്നുള്ള ഉപദേശം കേള്‍ക്കുന്നതു മതിയാക്കുക.
27If you stop listening to instruction, my son, You will stray from the words of knowledge.
28നിസ്സാരസാക്ഷി ന്യായത്തെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായ് അകൃത്യത്തെ വിഴുങ്ങുന്നു.
28A corrupt witness mocks justice, And the mouth of the wicked gulps down iniquity.
29പരിഹാസികള്‍ക്കായി ശിക്ഷാവിധിയും മൂഢന്മാരുടെ മുതുകിന്നു തല്ലും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
29Penalties are prepared for scoffers, And beatings for the backs of fools.
