1കൂട്ടംവിട്ടു നടക്കുന്നവന്‍ സ്വേച്ഛയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; സകലജ്ഞാനത്തോടും അവന്‍ കയര്‍ക്കുംന്നു.
1An unfriendly man pursues selfishness, And defies all sound judgment.
2തന്റെ മനസ്സു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതില്‍ അല്ലാതെ മൂഢന്നു ബോധത്തില്‍ ഇഷ്ടമില്ല.
2A fool has no delight in understanding, But only in revealing his own opinion.
3ദുഷ്ടനോടുകൂടെ അപമാനവും ദുഷ്കീര്‍ത്തിയോടുകൂടെ നിന്ദയും വരുന്നു.
3When wickedness comes, contempt also comes, And with shame comes disgrace.
4മനുഷ്യന്റെ വായിലെ വാക്കു ആഴമുള്ള വെള്ളവും ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ ഉറവു ഒഴുകൂള്ള തോടും ആകുന്നു.
4The words of a man's mouth are like deep waters. The fountain of wisdom is like a flowing brook.
5നീതിമാനെ ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തില്‍ തോല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദുഷ്ടന്റെ പക്ഷം പിടിക്കുന്നതു നന്നല്ല.
5To be partial to the faces of the wicked is not good, Nor to deprive the innocent of justice.
6മൂഢന്റെ അധരങ്ങള്‍ വഴക്കിന്നു ഇടയാക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വായ് തല്ലു വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തുന്നു.
6A fool's lips come into strife, And his mouth invites beatings.
7മൂഢന്റെ വായ് അവന്നു നാശം; അവന്റെ അധരങ്ങള്‍ അവന്റെ പ്രാണന്നു കണി.
7A fool's mouth is his destruction, And his lips are a snare to his soul.
8ഏഷണിക്കാരന്റെ വാക്കു സ്വാദുഭോജനംപോലെയിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു വയറ്റിന്റെ അറകളിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്നു.
8The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: They go down into a person's innermost parts.
9വേലയില്‍ മടിയനായവന്‍ മുടിയന്റെ സഹോദരന്‍ .
9One who is slack in his work Is brother to him who is a master of destruction.
10യഹോവയുടെ നാമം ബലമുള്ള ഗോപുരം; നീതിമാന്‍ അതിലേക്കു ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അഭയം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു.
10The name of Yahweh is a strong tower: The righteous run to him, and are safe.
11ധനവാന്നു തന്റെ സമ്പത്തു ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണം; അതു അവന്നു ഉയര്‍ന്ന മതില്‍ ആയിത്തോന്നുന്നു.
11The rich man's wealth is his strong city, Like an unscalable wall in his own imagination.
12നാശത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിഗളിക്കുന്നു; മാനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ താഴ്മ.
12Before destruction the heart of man is proud, But before honor is humility.
13കേള്‍ക്കുംമുമ്പെ ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നവന്നു അതു ഭോഷത്വവും ലജ്ജയും ആയ്തീരുന്നു.
13He who gives answer before he hears, That is folly and shame to him.
14പുരുഷന്റെ ധീരത അവന്റെ ദീനത്തെ സഹിക്കും; തകര്‍ന്ന മനസ്സിനെയോ ആര്‍ക്കും സഹിക്കാം?
14A man's spirit will sustain him in sickness, But a crushed spirit, who can bear?
15ബുദ്ധിമാന്റെ ഹൃദയം പരിജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ ചെവി പരിജ്ഞാനം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.
15The heart of the discerning gets knowledge. The ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
16മനുഷ്യന്‍ വെക്കുന്ന കാഴ്ചയാല്‍ അവന്നു പ്രവേശനം കിട്ടും; അവന്‍ മഹാന്മാരുടെ സന്നിധിയില്‍ ചെല്ലുവാന്‍ ഇടയാകും.
16A man's gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.
17തന്റെ അന്യായം ആദ്യം ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന്‍ നീതിമാന്‍ എന്നു തോന്നും; എന്നാല്‍ അവന്റെ പ്രതിയോഗി വന്നു അവനെ പരിശോധിക്കും.
17He who pleads his cause first seems right; Until another comes and questions him.
18ചീട്ടു തര്‍ക്കങ്ങളെ തീര്‍ക്കയും ബലവാന്മാരെ തമ്മില്‍ വേറുപെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
18The lot settles disputes, And keeps strong ones apart.
19ദ്രോഹിക്കപ്പെട്ട സഹോദരന്‍ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണത്തെക്കാള്‍ ദുര്‍ജ്ജയനാകുന്നു; അങ്ങനെയുള്ള പിണക്കം അരമനയുടെ ഔടാമ്പല്‍പോലെ തന്നേ.
19A brother offended is more difficult than a fortified city; And disputes are like the bars of a castle.
20വായുടെ ഫലത്താല്‍ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഉദരം നിറയും; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വിളവുകൊണ്ടു അവന്നു തൃപ്തിവരും;
20A man's stomach is filled with the fruit of his mouth. With the harvest of his lips he is satisfied.
21മരണവും ജീവനും നാവിന്റെ അധികാരത്തില്‍ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അതില്‍ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവര്‍ അതിന്റെ ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കും.
21Death and life are in the power of the tongue; Those who love it will eat its fruit.
22ഭാര്യയെ കിട്ടുന്നവന്നു നന്മ കിട്ടുന്നു; യഹോവയോടു പ്രസാദം ലഭിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.
22Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor of Yahweh.
23ദരിദ്രന്‍ യാചനാരീതിയില്‍ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; ധനവാനോ കഠിനമായി ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നു.
23The poor plead for mercy, But the rich answer harshly.
24വളരെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാരുള്ള മനുഷ്യന്നു നാശം വരും; എന്നാല്‍ സഹോദരനെക്കാളും പറ്റുള്ള സ്നേഹിതന്മാരും ഉണ്ടു.
24A man of many companions may be ruined, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
