1അനന്തരം ജനം യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടം തോന്നുമാറു പിറുപിറുത്തു; യഹോവ കേട്ടു അവന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു; യഹോവയുടെ തീ അവരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ കത്തി പാളയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരെ ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
1The people were as murmurers, speaking evil in the ears of Yahweh: and when Yahweh heard it, his anger was kindled; and the fire of Yahweh burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.
2ജനം മോശെയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; മോശെ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചുഅപ്പോള്‍ തീ കെട്ടുപോയി.
2The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to Yahweh, and the fire abated.
3യഹോവയുടെ തീ അവരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ കത്തുകയാല്‍ ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു തബേരാ എന്നു പേരായി.
3The name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of Yahweh burnt among them.
4പിന്നെ അവരുടെ ഇടയിലുള്ള സമ്മിശ്രജാതി ദുരാഗ്രഹികളായി, യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കളും വീണ്ടും കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടുഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തിന്മാന്‍ ഇറച്ചി ആര്‍ തരും?
4The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
5ഞങ്ങള്‍ മിസ്രയീമില്‍ വെച്ചു വിലകൂടാതെ തിന്നിട്ടുള്ള മത്സ്യം, വെള്ളരിക്കാ, മത്തെങ്ങാ, ഉള്ളി, ചുവന്നുള്ളി, ചിറ്റുള്ളി എന്നിവ ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഔര്‍ക്കുംന്നു.
5We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:
6ഇപ്പോഴോ ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണന്‍ പൊരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ മന്നാ അല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും കാണ്മാനില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6but now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all save this manna to look on.
7മന്നയോ കൊത്തമ്പാലരിപോലെയും അതിന്റെ നിറം ഗുല്ഗുലുവിന്റേതുപോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.
7The manna was like coriander seed, and the appearance of it as the appearance of bdellium.
8ജനം നടന്നു പെറുക്കി തിരികല്ലില്‍ പൊടിച്ചിട്ടോ ഉരലില്‍ ഇടിച്ചിട്ടോ കലത്തില്‍ പുഴുങ്ങി അപ്പം ഉണ്ടാക്കും. അതിന്റെ രുചി എണ്ണചേര്‍ത്തുണ്ടാക്കിയ ദോശപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു.
8The people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.
9രാത്രി പാളയത്തില്‍ മഞ്ഞു പൊഴിയുമ്പോള്‍ മന്നയും പൊഴിയും.
9When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.
10ജനം കുടുംബംകുടുംബമായി ഔരോരുത്തന്‍ താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരവാതില്‍ക്കല്‍വെച്ചു കരയുന്നതു മോശെ കേട്ടു; യഹോവയുടെ കോപം ഏറ്റവും ജ്വലിച്ചു; മോശെക്കും അനിഷ്ടമായി.
10Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent: and the anger of Yahweh was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.
11അപ്പോള്‍ മോശെ യഹോവയോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനീ അടിയനെ വലെച്ചതു എന്തു? നിനക്കു എന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നാതെ ഈ സര്‍വ്വജനത്തിന്റെയും ഭാരം എന്റെമേല്‍ വെച്ചതെന്തു?
11Moses said to Yahweh, Why have you dealt ill with your servant? and why haven't I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?
12മുലകുടിക്കുന്ന കുഞ്ഞിനെ ഒരു ധാത്രി എടുക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഞാന്‍ അവരെ നീ അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു എന്റെ മാറത്തെടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു പോകേണമെന്നു എന്നോടു കല്പിപ്പാന്‍ ഈ ജനത്തെ ഒക്കെയും ഞാന്‍ ഗര്‍ഭംധരിച്ചുവോ? ഞാന്‍ അവരെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവോ?
12Have I conceived all this people? have I brought them forth, that you should tell me, Carry them in your bosom, as a nursing-father carries the sucking child, to the land which you swore to their fathers?
13ഈ ജനത്തിന്നു ഒക്കെയും കൊടുപ്പാന്‍ എനിക്കു എവിടെനിന്നു ഇറച്ചി കിട്ടും? അവര്‍ ഇതാഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തിന്മാന്‍ ഇറച്ചി തരിക എന്നു എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു കരയുന്നു.
13Whence should I have flesh to give to all this people? for they weep to me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14ഏകനായി ഈ സര്‍വ്വജനത്തെയും വഹിപ്പാന്‍ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു കഴിയുന്നതല്ല; അതു എനിക്കു അതിഭാരം ആകുന്നു.
14I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15ഇങ്ങനെ എന്നോടു ചെയ്യുന്ന പക്ഷം ദയവിചാരിച്ചു എന്നെ കൊന്നുകളയേണമേ. എന്റെ അരിഷ്ടത ഞാന്‍ കാണരുതേ.
15If you deal thus with me, please kill me out of hand, if I have found favor in your sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
16അപ്പോള്‍ യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുയിസ്രായേല്‍മൂപ്പന്മാരില്‍വെച്ചു ജനത്തിന്നു പ്രമാണികളും മേല്‍വിചാരകന്മാരും എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്ന എഴുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരെ സമാഗമനക്കുടാരത്തിന്നരികെ നിന്നോടു കൂടെ നില്‍ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വരിക.
16Yahweh said to Moses, Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them to the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with you.
17അവിടെ ഞാന്‍ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യും; ഞാന്‍ നിന്റെമേലുള്ള ആത്മാവില്‍ കുറെ എടുത്തു അവരുടെ മേല്‍ പകരും. നീ ഏകനായി വഹിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര്‍ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഭാരം വഹിക്കും.
17I will come down and talk with you there: and I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you not bear it yourself alone.
18എന്നാല്‍ ജനത്തോടു നീ പറയേണ്ടതുനാളത്തേക്കു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ ശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പിന്‍ ; എന്നാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇറച്ചി തിന്നും; ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു തിന്മാന്‍ ഇറച്ചി ആര്‍ തരും? മിസ്രയീമില്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നന്നായിരുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു യഹോവ കേള്‍ക്കെ കരഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; ആകയാല്‍ യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ഇറച്ചി തരികയും നിങ്ങള്‍ തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും.
18Say you to the people, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and you shall eat flesh; for you have wept in the ears of Yahweh, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore Yahweh will give you flesh, and you shall eat.
19ഒരു ദിവസമല്ല, രണ്ടു ദിവസമല്ല, അഞ്ചു ദിവസമല്ല, പത്തു ദിവസമല്ല, ഇരുപതു ദിവസവുമല്ല, ഒരു മാസം മുഴുവനും തന്നേ;
19You shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days,
20അതു നിങ്ങളുടെ മൂക്കില്‍കൂടി പുറപ്പെട്ടു നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ഔക്കാനം വരുവോളം നിങ്ങള്‍ തിന്നും; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്‍ ഉള്ള യഹോവയെ നിങ്ങള്‍ നിരസിക്കയുംഞങ്ങള്‍ മിസ്രയീമില്‍നിന്നു എന്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കരകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
20but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome to you; because that you have rejected Yahweh who is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
21അപ്പോള്‍ മോശെഎന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള ജനം ആറുലക്ഷം കാലാള്‍ ഉണ്ടു; ഒരു മാസം മുഴുവന്‍ തിന്മാന്‍ ഞാന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും ഇറച്ചി കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു നീ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
21Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and you have said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
22അവര്‍ക്കും മതിയാകുംവണ്ണം ആടുകളെയും മാടുകളെയും അവര്‍ക്കുംവേണ്ടി അറുക്കുമോ? അവര്‍ക്കും മതിയാകുംവണ്ണം സമുദ്രത്തിലെ മത്സ്യത്തെ ഒക്കെയും അവര്‍ക്കും വേണ്ടി പിടിച്ചുകൂട്ടുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
22Shall flocks and herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
23യഹോവ മോശെയോടുയഹോവയുടെ കൈ കുറുതായിപ്പോയോ? എന്റെ വചനം നിവൃത്തിയാകുമോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു നീ ഇപ്പോള്‍ കാണും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
23Yahweh said to Moses, Has Yahweh's hand grown short? now shall you see whether my word shall happen to you or not.
24അങ്ങനെ മോശെ ചെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു, ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരില്‍ എഴുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരെ കൂട്ടി കൂടാരത്തിന്റെ ചുറ്റിലും നിറുത്തി.
24Moses went out, and told the people the words of Yahweh: and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the Tent.
25എന്നാറെ യഹോവ ഒരു മേഘത്തില്‍ ഇറങ്ങി അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു, അവന്മേലുള്ള ആത്മാവില്‍ കുറെ എടുത്തു മൂപ്പന്മാരായ ആ എഴുപതു പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ക്കും കൊടുത്തു; ആത്മാവു അവരുടെ മേല്‍ ആവസിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ പ്രവചിച്ചു; പിന്നെ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തില്ലതാനും.
25Yahweh came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders: and it happened that when the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.
26എന്നാല്‍ ആ പുരഷന്മാരില്‍ രണ്ടു പേര്‍ പാളയത്തില്‍ തന്നേ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു; ഒരുത്തന്നു എല്‍ദാദ് എന്നും മറ്റവന്നു മേദാദ് എന്നും പേര്‍. ആത്മാവു അവരുടെമേലും ആവസിച്ചു; അവരും പേരെഴുതിയവരില്‍ ഉള്ളവര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കിലും കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നിരുന്നില്ല; അവര്‍ പാളയത്തില്‍ വെച്ചു പ്രവചിച്ചു.
26But there remained two men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested on them; and they were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
27അപ്പോള്‍ ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരന്‍ മോശെയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ഔടിച്ചെന്നുഎല്‍ദാദും മേദാദും പാളയത്തില്‍വെച്ചു പ്രവചിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.
27There ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.
28എന്നാറെ നൂന്റെ മകനായി ബാല്യംമുതല്‍ മോശെയുടെ ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരനായിരുന്ന യോശുവഎന്റെ യജമാനനായ മോശെയേ, അവരെ വിരോധിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
28Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, My lord Moses, forbid them.
29മോശെ അവനോടുഎന്നെ വിചാരിച്ചു നീ അസൂയപ്പെടുന്നുവോ? യഹോവയുടെ ജനം ഒക്കെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരാകയും യഹോവ തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ അവരുടെമേല്‍ പകരുകയും ചെയ്തെങ്കില്‍ കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29Moses said to him, Are you jealous for my sake? would that all Yahweh's people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!
30പിന്നെ മോശെയും യിസ്രായേല്‍മൂപ്പന്മാരും പാളയത്തില്‍ വന്നു ചേര്‍ന്നു.
30Moses got him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31അനന്തരം യഹോവ അയച്ച ഒരു കാറ്റു ഊതി കടലില്‍നിന്നു കാടയെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പാളയത്തിന്റെ സമീപത്തു ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി ഇങ്ങോട്ടും ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങനെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ ചുറ്റിലും നിലത്തോടു ഏകദേശം രണ്ടു മുഴം അടുത്തു പറന്നുനിലക്കുമാറാക്കി.
31There went forth a wind from Yahweh, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day's journey on this side, and a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the earth.
32ജനം എഴുന്നേറ്റു അന്നു പകല്‍ മുഴുവനും രാത്രി മുഴുവനും പിറ്റെന്നാള്‍ മുഴുവനും കാടയെ പിടിച്ചു കൂട്ടി; നന്നാ കുറെച്ചു പിടിച്ചവന്‍ പത്തു പറ പിടിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അവര്‍ അവയെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ ചുറ്റിലും ചിക്കി.
32The people rose up all that day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails: he who gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33എന്നാല്‍ ഇറച്ചി അവരുടെ പല്ലിന്നിടയില്‍ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അതു ചവെച്ചിറക്കും മുമ്പെ തന്നേ യഹോവയുടെ കോപം ജനത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു, യഹോവ ജനത്തെ ഒരു മഹാബാധകൊണ്ടു സംഹരിച്ചു.
33While the flesh was yet between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of Yahweh was kindled against the people, and Yahweh struck the people with a very great plague.
34ദുരാഗ്രഹികളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തെ അവിടെ കുഴിച്ചിട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു കിബ്രോത്ത്-ഹത്താവ എന്നു പേരായി.
34The name of that place was called Kibrothhattaavah, because there they buried the people who lusted.
35കിബ്രോത്ത്-ഹത്താവ വിട്ടു ജനം ഹസേരോത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു ഹസേരോത്തില്‍ പാര്‍ത്തു.
35From Kibrothhattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth; and they abode at Hazeroth.
