1ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു യേശു ശിഷ്യന്മാരുമായി കെദ്രോന്‍ തോട്ടിന്നു അക്കരെക്കു പോയി. അവിടെ ഒരു തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അതില്‍ അവനും ശിഷ്യന്മാരും കടന്നു.
1When Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples over the brook Kidron, where was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered.
2അവിടെ യേശു പലപ്പോഴും ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുകൂടെ പോയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്ത യൂദയും ആ സ്ഥലം അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
2Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, for Jesus often resorted there with his disciples.
3അങ്ങനെ യൂദാ പട്ടാളത്തെയും മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും അയച്ച ചേവകരെയും കൂട്ടികൊണ്ടു ദീപട്ടിപന്തങ്ങളും ആയുധങ്ങളുമായി അവിടെ വന്നു.
3Judas then, having taken a detachment of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.
4യേശു തനിക്കു നേരിടുവാനുള്ളതു എല്ലാം അറിഞ്ഞു പുറത്തുചെന്നുനിങ്ങള്‍ ആരെ തിരയുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
4Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were happening to him, went forth, and said to them, "Who are you looking for?"
5നസറായനായ യേശുവിനെ എന്നു അവര്‍ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍അതു ഞാന്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു; അവനെ കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുന്ന യൂദയും അവരോടുകൂടെ നിന്നിരുന്നു.
5They answered him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I AM." Judas also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.
6ഞാന്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ പിന്‍ വാങ്ങി നിലത്തുവീണു.
6When therefore he said to them, "I AM," they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7നിങ്ങള്‍ ആരെ തിരയുന്നു എന്നു അവന്‍ പിന്നെയും അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവര്‍നസറായനായ യേശുവിനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
7Again therefore he asked them, "Who are you looking for?" They said, "Jesus of Nazareth."
8ഞാന്‍ തന്നേ എന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; എന്നെ ആകുന്നു തിരയുന്നതെങ്കില്‍ ഇവര്‍ പോയ്ക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നു യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
8Jesus answered, "I told you that I AM. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way,"
9നീ എനിക്കു തന്നവരില്‍ ആരും നഷ്ടമായിപ്പോയിട്ടില്ല എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കിന്നു ഇതിനാല്‍ നിവൃത്തിവന്നു.
9that the word might be fulfilled which he spoke, "Of those whom you have given me, I have lost none."
10ശിമോന്‍ പത്രൊസ് തനിക്കുള്ള വാള്‍ ഊരി മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ ദാസനെ വെട്ടി അവന്റെ വലത്തുകാതു അറുത്തു കളഞ്ഞു; ആ ദാസന്നു മല്‍ക്കൊസ് എന്നു പേര്‍.
10Simon Peter therefore, having a sword, drew it, and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.
11യേശു പത്രൊസിനോടുവാള്‍ ഉറയില്‍ ഇടുക; പിതാവു എനിക്കു തന്ന പാനപാത്രം ഞാന്‍ കുടിക്കേണ്ടയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11Jesus therefore said to Peter, "Put the sword into its sheath. The cup which the Father has given me, shall I not surely drink it?"
12പട്ടാളവും സഹസ്രാധിപനും യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ചേവകരും യേശുവിനെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടി
12So the detachment, the commanding officer, and the officers of the Jews, seized Jesus and bound him,
13ഒന്നാമതു ഹന്നാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവന്‍ ആ സംവത്സരത്തെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ കയ്യഫാവിന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പന്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.
13and led him to Annas first, for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.
14കയ്യഫാവോജനത്തിനുവേണ്ടി ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്‍ മരിക്കുന്നതു നന്നു എന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാരോടു ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞവന്‍ തന്നേ.
14Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should perish for the people.
15ശിമോന്‍ പത്രൊസും മറ്റൊരു ശിഷ്യനും യേശുവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; ആ ശിഷ്യന്‍ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്നു പരിചയമുള്ളവന്‍ ആകയാല്‍ യേശുവിനോടുകൂടെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ നടുമുറ്റത്തു കടന്നു.
15Simon Peter followed Jesus, as did another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest;
16പത്രൊസ് വാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ പുറത്തു നിലക്കുമ്പോള്‍, മഹാപുരോഹിതന്നു പരിചയമുള്ള മറ്റെ ശിഷ്യന്‍ പുറത്തുവന്നു വാതില്കാവല്‍ക്കാരത്തിയോടു പറഞ്ഞു പത്രൊസിനെ അകത്തു കയറ്റി.
16but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought in Peter.
17വാതില്‍ കാക്കുന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരത്തി പത്രൊസിനോടുനീയും ഈ മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരില്‍ ഒരുവനോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അല്ല എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
17Then the maid who kept the door said to Peter, "Are you also one of this man's disciples?" He said, "I am not."
18അന്നു കുളിര്‍ ആകകൊണ്ടു ദാസന്മാരും ചേവകരും കനല്‍ കൂട്ടി തീ കാഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; പത്രൊസും അവരോടുകൂടെ തീ കാഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടുനിന്നു.
18Now the servants and the officers were standing there, having made a fire of coals, for it was cold. They were warming themselves. Peter was with them, standing and warming himself.
19മഹാപുരോഹിതന്‍ യേശുവിനോടു അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരെയും ഉപദേശത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു.
19The high priest therefore asked Jesus about his disciples, and about his teaching.
20അതിന്നു യേശുഞാന്‍ ലോകത്തോടു പരസ്യമായി സംസാരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പള്ളിയിലും എല്ലാ യെഹൂദന്മാരും കൂടുന്ന ദൈവാലയത്തിലും ഞാന്‍ എപ്പോഴും ഉപദേശിച്ചു;
20Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret.
21രഹസ്യമായി ഒന്നും സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. നീ എന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? ഞാന്‍ സംസാരിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നു കേട്ടവരോടു ചോദിക്ക; ഞാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞതു അവര്‍ അറിയുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
21Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them. Behold, these know the things which I said."
22അവന്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുമ്പോള്‍ ചേവകരില്‍ അരികെ നിന്ന ഒരുത്തന്‍ മഹാപുരോഹിതനോടു ഇങ്ങനെയോ ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു യേശുവിന്റെ കന്നത്തു ഒന്നടിച്ചു.
22When he had said this, one of the officers standing by slapped Jesus with his hand, saying, "Do you answer the high priest like that?"
23യേശു അവനോടുഞാന്‍ ദോഷമായി സംസാരിച്ചു എങ്കില്‍ തെളിവു കൊടുക്ക; അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ എന്നെ തല്ലുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
23Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil; but if well, why do you beat me?"
24ഹന്നാവു അവനെ കെട്ടപ്പെട്ടവനായി മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ കയ്യഫാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ അയച്ചു.
24Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas, the high priest.
25ശിമോന്‍ പത്രൊസ് തീ കാഞ്ഞുനിലക്കുമ്പോള്‍നീയും അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരില്‍ ഒരുത്തനല്ലയോ എന്നു ചിലര്‍ അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു; അല്ല എന്നു അവന്‍ മറുത്തുപറഞ്ഞു.
25Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, "You aren't also one of his disciples, are you?" He denied it, and said, "I am not."
26മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ ദാസന്മാരില്‍ വെച്ച പത്രൊസ് കാതറുത്തവന്റെ ചാര്‍ച്ചക്കാരനായ ഒരുത്തന്‍ ഞാന്‍ നിന്നെ അവനോടുകൂടെ തോട്ടത്തില്‍ കണ്ടില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
26One of the servants of the high priest, being a relative of him whose ear Peter had cut off, said, "Didn't I see you in the garden with him?"
27പത്രൊസ് പിന്നെയും മറുത്തുപറഞ്ഞു; ഉടനെ കോഴി ക്കുകി!
27Peter therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed.
28പുലര്‍ച്ചെക്കു അവര്‍ യേശുവിനെ കയ്യഫാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ നിന്നു ആസ്ഥാനത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; തങ്ങള്‍ അശുദ്ധമാകാതെ പെസഹ കഴിപ്പാന്തക്കവണ്ണം ആസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ കടന്നില്ല.
28They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn't enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.
29പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ പുറത്തുവന്നുഈ മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ എന്തു കുറ്റം ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
29Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, "What accusation do you bring against this man?"
30കുറ്റക്കാരന്‍ അല്ലാഞ്ഞു എങ്കില്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ അവനെ നിന്റെ പക്കല്‍ ഏല്പിക്കയില്ലായിരുന്നു എന്നു അവര്‍ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
30They answered him, "If this man weren't an evildoer, we wouldn't have delivered him up to you."
31പീലാത്തൊസ് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള്‍ അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി നിങ്ങളുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം വിധിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാര്‍ അവനോടുമരണശിക്ഷെക്കുള്ള അധികാരം ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
31Pilate therefore said to them, "Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law." Therefore the Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,"
32യേശു താന്‍ മരിപ്പാനുള്ള മരണവിധം സൂചിപ്പിച്ചവാക്കിന്നു ഇതിനാല്‍ നിവൃത്തിവന്നു.
32that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die.
33പീലാത്തൊസ് പിന്നെയും ആസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു യേശുവിനെ വിളിച്ചുനീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
33Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"
34അതിന്നു ഉത്തരമായി യേശുഇതു നീ സ്വയമായി പറയുന്നതോ മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
34Jesus answered him, "Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?"
35പീലാത്തൊസ് അതിന്നു ഉത്തരമായിഞാന്‍ യെഹൂദനോ? നിന്റെ ജനവും മഹാപുരോഗിതന്മാരും നിന്നെ നിന്റെ പക്കല്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ എന്തു ചെയ്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു യേശു
35Pilate answered, "I'm not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?"
36എന്റെ രാജ്യം ഐഹികമല്ല; എന്നു എന്റെ രാജ്യം ഐഹികം ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ എന്നെ യഹൂദന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിക്കാതവണ്ണം എന്റെ ചേവകര്‍ പോരാടുമായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ എന്റെ രാജ്യം ഐഹികമല്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
36Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I wouldn't be delivered to the Jews. But now my kingdom is not from here."
37പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടുഎന്നാല്‍ നീ രാജാവു തന്നേയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു യേശുനീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഞാന്‍ രാജാവുതന്നേ; സത്യത്തിന്നു സാക്ഷിനില്‍ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന്‍ ജനിച്ചു അതിന്നായി ലോകത്തില്‍ വന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു; സത്യതല്പരനായവന്‍ എല്ലാം എന്റെ വാക്കുകേള്‍ക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
37Pilate therefore said to him, "Are you a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."
38പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടുസത്യം എന്നാല്‍ എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പിന്നെയും യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ പുറത്തു ചെന്നു അവരോടുഞാന്‍ അവനില്‍ ഒരു കുറ്റവും കാണുന്നില്ല.
38Pilate said to him, "What is truth?" When he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, "I find no basis for a charge against him.
39എന്നാല്‍ പെസഹയില്‍ ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ഒരുത്തനെ വിട്ടുതരിക പതിവുണ്ടല്ലോ; യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവിനെ വിട്ടുതരുന്നതു സമ്മതമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവര്‍ പിന്നെയും
39But you have a custom, that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Therefore do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?"
40ഇവനെ വേണ്ടാ; ബറബ്ബാസിനെ മതി എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു; ബറബ്ബാസോ കവര്‍ച്ചക്കാരന്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.
40Then they all shouted again, saying, "Not this man, but Barabbas!" Now Barabbas was a robber.
