യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഈ നഗരത്തില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നവന് വാള്കൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും മരിക്കും; കല്ദയരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു ചേരുന്നവനോ ജീയവനോടെയിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ ജീവന് അവന്നു കൊള്ളകിട്ടിയതുപോലെയിരിക്കും; അവന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കും എന്നും യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു

Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king, instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.

ഈ നഗരം നിശ്ചയമായി ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും, അവന് അതിനെ പിടിക്കും എന്നും
2
But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did listen to the words of Yahweh, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.

യിരെമ്യാവു സകല ജനത്തോടും പ്രസ്താവിച്ച വചനങ്ങളെ മത്ഥാന്റെ മകനായ ശെഫത്യാവും പശ്ഹൂരിന്റെ മകനായ ഗെദല്യാവും ശെലെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യൂഖലും മല്ക്കീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ പശ്ഹൂരും കേട്ടിട്ടു

Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now to Yahweh our God for us.

പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് രാജാവിനോടുഈ മനുഷ്യന് നഗരത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന പടയാളികള്ക്കും സര്വ്വജനത്തിന്നും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞു ധൈര്യക്ഷയം വരുത്തുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നുകളയേണമേ; ഈ മനുഷ്യന് ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ നന്മയല്ല തിന്മയത്രേ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people; for they had not put him into prison.

സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവുഇതാ, അവന് നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വിരോധമായി ഒന്നും ചെയ്വാന് രാജാവിന്നു കഴിവില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Pharaoh's army was come forth out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they broke up from Jerusalem.

അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ പിടിച്ചു കാവല്പുരമുറ്റത്തു രാജകുമാരനായ മല്ക്കീയാവിന്നുള്ള കുഴിയില് ഇറക്കി; കയറുകൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ ഇറക്കിയതു; കുഴിയില് ചെളിയല്ലാതെ വെള്ളമില്ലായിരുന്നു; യിരെമ്യാവു ചെളിയില് താണു.

Then came the word of Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ കുഴിയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു രാജഗൃഹത്തില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് എന്ന ഷണ്ഡന് കേട്ടു; അന്നു രാജാവു ബെന്യാമീന് വാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, Thus shall you tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: Behold, Pharaoh's army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own lans neighbor: behold, I proclaim tThe Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city; and they shall take it, and burn it with fire.

ഏബെദ്-മേലെക് രാജഗൃഹത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു

യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഈ മനുഷ്യന് യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനോടു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അന്യായമത്രേ; അവര് അവനെ കുഴിയില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; നഗരത്തില് അപ്പം ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് അവന് അവിടെ പട്ടിണികിടന്നു ചാകേയുള്ള എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Thus says Yahweh, Don't deceive yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us; for they shall not depart.

രാജാവു കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക്കിനോടുനീ ഇവിടെനിന്നു മുപ്പതു ആളുകളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന് മരിക്കുംമുമ്പെ അവനെ കുഴിയില്നിന്നു കയറ്റിക്കൊള്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yes would they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.

അങ്ങനെ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് ആയാളുകളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു രാജഗൃഹത്തില് ഭണ്ഡാരമുറിക്കു കീഴെ ചെന്നു അവിടെ നിന്നു പഴന്തുണിയും കീറ്റുതുണിക്കണ്ടങ്ങളും എടുത്തു കുഴിയില് യിരെമ്യാവിന്നു കയറുവഴി ഇറക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

It happened that, when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army,

കൂശ്യനായ ഏബെദ്--മേലെക് യിരെമ്യാവോടുഈ പഴന്തുണിയും കീറ്റുതുണിക്കണ്ടങ്ങളും നിന്റെ കക്ഷങ്ങളില് വെച്ചു അതിന്നു പുറമെ കയറിട്ടുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യിരെമ്യാവു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു.

then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the midst of the people.

അവര് യിരെമ്യാവെ കയറുകൊണ്ടു കുഴിയില്നിന്നു വലിച്ചുകയറ്റി; യിരെമ്യാവു കാവല്പുരമുറ്റത്തു പാര്ത്തു.

When he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, You are falling away to the Chaldeans.

അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു ആളയച്ചു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ മൂന്നാം പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കല് തന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുത്തി; രാജാവു യിരെമ്യാവോടുഞാന് നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം ചോദിക്കുന്നു; എന്നോടു ഒന്നും മറെച്ചുവെക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I am not falling away to the Chaldeans. But he didn't listen to him; so Irijah laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.

അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു സിദെക്കീയാവോടുഞാന് അതു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചാല് എന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ലയോ? ഞാന് ഒരു ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞു തന്നാല് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കയില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

The princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.

സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവുഈ പ്രാണനെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചുതന്ന യഹോവയാണ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല; നിനക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കുന്ന ഈ മനുഷ്യരുടെ കയ്യില് ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഏല്പിക്കയുമില്ല എന്നു യിരെമ്യാവോടു രഹസ്യമായി സത്യംചെയ്തു.

When Jeremiah was come into the dungeon-house, and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
17
എന്നാറെ യിരെമ്യാവു സിദെക്കീയാവോടുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായി സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുബാബേല് രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെന്നാല് നിനക്കു പ്രാണരക്ഷയുണ്ടാകും; ഈ നഗരത്തെ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളകയുമില്ല; നീയും നിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും ജീവനോടെ ഇരിക്കും.

Then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Yahweh? Jeremiah said, There is. He said also, You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
18
നീ ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെല്ലാഞ്ഞാലോ ഈ നഗരം കല്ദയരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെടും; അവര് അതിനെ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും; നീ അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു തെറ്റിയൊഴികയുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Moreover Jeremiah said to king Zedekiah, Wherein have I sinned against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?

സിദെക്കീയാരാജാവു യിരെമ്യാവോടുകല്ദയര് എന്നെ അവരുടെ പക്ഷം ചേര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കയും അവര് എന്നെ അപമാനിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
20
അതിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവു പറഞ്ഞതുഅവര് നിന്നെ ഏല്പിക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന യഹോയുടെ വചനം കേള്ക്കേണമേ; എന്നാല് നിനക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കും; നിനക്കു പ്രാണരക്ഷയുണ്ടാകും.
20
Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
21
പുറത്തു ചെല്ലുവാന് നിനക്കു മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കിലോ, യഹോവ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്ന അരുളപ്പാടാവിതു

Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard; and they gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city was spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

യെഹൂദാരാജാവിന്റെ അരമനയില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന സകലസ്ത്രീകളും പുറത്തു ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പോകേണ്ടിവരും; നിന്റെ ചങ്ങാതിമാര് നിന്നെ വശീകരിച്ചു തോല്പിച്ചു; നിന്റെ കാല് ചെളിയില് താണപ്പോള് പിന്മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവര് പറയും.

നിന്റെ സകലഭാര്യമാരെയും മക്കളെയും പുറത്തു കല്ദയരുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുപോകും; നീയും അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകാതെ ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് അകപ്പെടും; ഈ നഗരത്തെ തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയുന്നതിന്നു നീ ഹേതുവാകും.

സിദെക്കീയാവു യിരെമ്യാവോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഈ കാര്യം ആരും അറിയരുതുഎന്നാല് നീ മരിക്കയില്ല.

ഞാന് നിന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ചപ്രകാരം പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് കേട്ടിട്ടു നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുനീ രാജാവിനോടു എന്തു സംസാരിച്ചു? ഞങ്ങളോടു പറക; ഒന്നും മറെച്ചുവെക്കരുതു; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുകയില്ല; രാജാവു നിന്നോടു എന്തു സംസാരിച്ചു എന്നിങ്ങനെ ചോദിച്ചാല്,

നീ അവരോടുയോനാഥാന്റെ വീട്ടില് കിടന്നു മരിക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നെ വീണ്ടും അവിടെ അയക്കരുതേ എന്നു ഞാന് രാജസന്നിധിയില് സങ്കടം ബോധിപ്പിക്കയായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറയേണം.

സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചാറെ അവന് , രാജാവു കല്പിച്ച ഈ വാക്കുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ കാര്യം വെളിവാകാഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് ഒന്നും മിണ്ടാതെ അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി.

യെരൂശലേം പിടിച്ച നാള്വരെ യിരെമ്യാവു കാവല്പുരമുറ്റത്തു പാര്ത്തു; യെരൂശലേം പിടിച്ചപ്പോഴും അവന് അവിടെത്തന്നെ ആയിരുന്നു.
