1ദാവീദ് മലമുകള്‍ കടന്നു കുറെ അപ്പുറം ചെന്നപ്പോള്‍ മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ സീബാ കോപ്പിട്ട രണ്ടുകഴുതയുമായി എതിരെ വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അവയുടെ പുറത്തു ഇരുനൂറു അപ്പവും നൂറു ഉണക്കമുന്തിരിക്കുലയും നൂറു അത്തിയടയും ഒരു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും കയറ്റിയിരുന്നു. രാജാവു സീബയോടുഇതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു സീബാകഴുതകള്‍ രാജാവിന്റെ കുടുംബക്കാര്‍ക്കും കയറുവാനും അപ്പവും പഴവും ബാല്യക്കാര്‍ക്കും തിന്മാനും വീഞ്ഞു മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ ക്ഷീണിച്ചവര്‍ക്കും കുടിപ്പാനും തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
1When David was a little past the top of the ascent, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of donkeys saddled, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, and one hundred clusters of raisins, and one hundred summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
2നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകന്‍ എവിടെ എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു സീബാ രാജാവിനോടുഅവന്‍ യെരൂശലേമില്‍ പാര്‍ക്കുംന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്‍ഗൃഹം എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ രാജത്വം ഇന്നു എനിക്കു തിരികെ തരുമെന്നു അവന്‍ പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
2The king said to Ziba, What do you mean by these? Ziba said, The donkeys are for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as are faint in the wilderness may drink.
3രാജാവു സീബയോടുഇതാ, മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിനക്കുള്ളതാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു സീബായജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഞാന്‍ നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു; തിരുമുമ്പില്‍ എനിക്കു ദയ ലഭിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3The king said, Where is your master's son? Ziba said to the king, Behold, he abides at Jerusalem; for he said, Today will the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.
4ദാവീദ് രാജാവു ബഹൂരീമില്‍ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ ശൌലിന്റെ കുലത്തില്‍ ഗേരയുടെ മകന്‍ ശീമെയി എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരുത്തന്‍ അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.
4Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, all that pertains to Mephibosheth is yours. Ziba said, I do obeisance; let me find favor in your sight, my lord, O king.
5അവന്‍ ദാവീദിനെയും രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും കല്ലുവാരി എറിഞ്ഞു; ജനവും വീരന്മാരുമെല്ലാം ഇടത്തും വലത്തുമായി നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
5When king David came to Bahurim, behold, a man of the family of the house of Saul came out, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came out, and cursed still as he came.
6ശിമെയി ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഇവ്വണം പറഞ്ഞുരക്തപാതകാ, നീചാ, പോ, പോ.
6He cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
7ശൌല്‍ ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ രക്തം യഹോവ നിന്റെമേല്‍ വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു പകരമല്ലോ നീ രാജാവയതു; യഹോവ രാജത്വം നിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ രക്തപാതകനായിരിക്കയാല്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ദോഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലം നിനക്കു വന്നുഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
7Thus said Shimei when he cursed, Be gone, be gone, you man of blood, and base fellow:
8അപ്പോള്‍ സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ അബീശായി രാജാവിനോടുഈ ചത്ത നായി എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ശപിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? ഞാന്‍ ചെന്നു അവന്റെ തല വെട്ടിക്കളയട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8Yahweh has returned on you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned; and Yahweh has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son; and, behold, you are taken in your own mischief, because you are a man of blood.
9അതിന്നു രാജാവുസെരൂയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരേ, എനിക്കും നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കും തമ്മില്‍ എന്തു? അവന്‍ ശപിക്കട്ടെ; ദാവീദിനെ ശപിക്ക എന്നു യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെ നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ആര്‍ ചോദിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah to the king, "Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please let me go over and take off his head."
10പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടും തന്റെ സകല ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടും പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ ഉദരത്തില്‍ നിന്നു പറപ്പെട്ട മകന്‍ എനിക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന്‍ നോക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ ഈ ബെന്യാമീന്യന്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നതു ആശ്ചര്യമോ? അവനെ വിടുവിന്‍ ; അവന്‍ ശപിക്കട്ടെ; യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
10The king said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? Because he curses, and because Yahweh has said to him, Curse David; who then shall say, Why have you done so?
11പക്ഷേ യഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം നോക്കി ഇന്നത്തെ ഇവന്റെ ശാപത്തിന്നു പകരം എനിക്കു അനുഗ്രഹം നലകും.
11David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeks my life: how much more may this Benjamite now do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for Yahweh has invited him.
12ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും വഴിനടന്നു പോകുമ്പോള്‍ ശിമെയിയും മലഞ്ചരിവില്‍ കൂടി അടുത്തു നടന്നു; നടന്നുകൊണ്ടു ശപിക്കയും കല്ലും പൂഴിയും വാരി അവനെ എറികയും ചെയ്തു.
12It may be that Yahweh will look on the wrong done to me, and that Yahweh will requite me good for his cursing of me this day.
13രാജാവും കൂടെയുള്ള സകല ജനവും ക്ഷീണിച്ചവരായി എത്തി അവിടെ ആശ്വസിച്ചു.
13So David and his men went by the way; and Shimei went along on the hill-side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
14എന്നാല്‍ അബ്ശാലോമും യിസ്രായേല്യരായ ജനമൊക്കെയും അഹീഥോഫെലുമായി യെരൂശലേമില്‍ എത്തി.
14The king, and all the people who were with him, came weary; and he refreshed himself there.
15ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന്‍ അര്‍ഖ്യനായ ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നിട്ടു അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുരാജാവേ, ജയ ജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
15Absalom, and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
16അപ്പോള്‍ അബ്ശാലോം ഹൂശായിയോടുഇതാകുന്നുവോ നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോടു നിനക്കുള്ള സ്നേഹം? സ്നേഹിതനോടുകൂടെ പോകാതിരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
16It happened, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, was come to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, Long live the king, Long live the king.
17അതിന്നു ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുഅങ്ങനെയല്ല, യഹോവയും ഈ ജനവും യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ആരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നുവോ അവന്നുള്ളവന്‍ ആകന്നു ഞാന്‍ ; അവന്റെ പക്ഷത്തില്‍ ഞാന്‍ ഇരിക്കും.
17Absalom said to Hushai, Is this your kindness to your friend? Why didn't you go with your friend?
18ഞാന്‍ ആരെ ആകുന്നു സേവിക്കേണ്ടതു? അവന്റെ മകനെ അല്ലയോ? ഞാന്‍ നിന്റെ അപ്പനെ സേവിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്നെയും സേവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18Hushai said to Absalom, No; but whom Yahweh, and this people, and all the men of Israel have chosen, his will I be, and with him will I abide.
19അനന്തരം അബ്ശാലോം അഹിഥോഫെലിനോടുനാം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതു എന്തു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ ആലോചിച്ചു പറവിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
19Again, whom should I serve? Shouldn't I serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in your father's presence, so will I be in your presence.
20അഹീഥോഫെല്‍ അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുരാജധാനി സൂക്ഷിപ്പാന്‍ നിന്റെ അപ്പന്‍ പാര്‍പ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള അവന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ നീ ചെല്ലുക; എന്നാല്‍ നീ നിന്റെ അപ്പന്നു നിന്നെത്തന്നെ വെറുപ്പാക്കി എന്നു എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും കേള്‍ക്കും; നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ളവര്‍ ഒക്കെയും ധൈര്യപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give your counsel what we shall do.
21അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ അബ്ശാലോമിന്നു വെണ്‍മാടിത്തിന്മേല്‍ ഒരു കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു; അവിടെ അബ്ശാലോം എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും കാണ്‍കെ തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു.
21Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to your father's concubines, that he has left to keep the house; and all Israel will hear that you are abhorred of your father: then will the hands of all who are with you be strong.
22അക്കാലത്തു അഹീഥോഫെല്‍ പറയുന്ന ആലോചന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു; ദാവീദിന്നും അബ്ശാലോമിന്നും അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ ആലോചനയെല്ലാം അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ആയിരുന്നു.
22So they spread Absalom a tent on the top of the house; and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

23The counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
