1രെഹബെയാം യെരൂശലേമില്‍ വന്നശേഷം യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു രാജത്വം രെഹബെയാമിന്നു വീണ്ടുകൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നു യെഹൂദയുടെയും ബെന്യാമീന്റെയും ഗൃഹത്തില്‍നിന്നു ശ്രേഷ്ഠയോദ്ധാക്കളായ ലക്ഷത്തെണ്പതിനായിരം പേരെ ശേഖരിച്ചു.
1When Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
2എന്നാല്‍ ദൈവപുരുഷനായ ശെമയ്യാവിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്‍
2But the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
3ശലോമോന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാ രാജാവായ രെഹബെയാമിനോടും യെഹൂദയിലും ബെന്യാമീനിലും ഉള്ള എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും പറക
3Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
4നിങ്ങള്‍ പുറപ്പെടരുതു; നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യരുതു; ഔരോരുത്തന്‍ താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുവിന്‍ ; ഈ കാര്യം എന്റെ ഹിതത്താല്‍ സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നിപ്രകാരം യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. അവര്‍ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു അനുസരിക്കയും യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലാതെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകയും ചെയ്തു.
4Thus says Yahweh, You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers: return every man to his house; for this thing is of me. So they listened to the words of Yahweh, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
5രെഹബെയാം യെരൂശലേമില്‍ പാര്‍ത്തു യെഹൂദയില്‍ ഉറപ്പിന്നായി പട്ടണങ്ങളെ പണിതു.
5Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.
6അവന്‍ യെഹൂദയിലും ബെന്യാമീനിലും ഉള്ള ബേത്ത്ളേഹെം
6He built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7ഏതാം, തെക്കോവ, ബേത്ത്-സൂര്‍, സോഖോ,
7Beth Zur, and Soco, and Adullam,
8,9 അദുല്ലാം, ഗത്ത്, മാരേശാ, സീഫ്, അദോരയീം,
8and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9ലാഖീശ്, അസേക്കാ, സോരാ, അയ്യാലോന്‍ , ഹെബ്രോന്‍ എന്നിവയെ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളായി പണിതു.
9and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10അവന്‍ കോട്ടകളെയും ഉറപ്പിച്ചു, അവയില്‍ പടനായകന്മാരെ ആക്കി, ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങളും എണ്ണയും വീഞ്ഞും ശേഖരിച്ചുവെച്ചു.
10and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
11അവന്‍ ഔരോ പട്ടണത്തിലും വന്‍ പരിചകളും കുന്തങ്ങളും വെച്ചു അവയെ നല്ലവണ്ണം ഉറപ്പിച്ചു; യെഹൂദയും ബെന്യാമീനും അവന്റെ പക്ഷത്തു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
11He fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine.
12എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിലും ഉള്ള പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ലേവ്യരും സകലദിക്കുകളില്‍ നിന്നും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നുചേര്‍ന്നു.
12In every city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong. Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
13യൊരോബെയാമും പുത്രന്മാരും ലേവ്യരെ യഹോവയുടെ പൌരോഹിത്യത്തില്‍നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു, താന്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ പൂജാഗിരികള്‍ക്കും മേഷവിഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ക്കും കാളകൂട്ടികള്‍ക്കും വേറെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ നിയമിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു,
13The priests and the Levites who were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their border.
14ലേവ്യര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ പുല്പുറങ്ങളും അവകാശങ്ങളും വിട്ടൊഴിഞ്ഞു യെഹൂദയിലേക്കും യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കും വന്നു.
14For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest's office to Yahweh;
15അവരുടെ പിന്നാലെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകല ഗോത്രങ്ങളില്‍നിന്നും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മനസ്സുവെച്ചവരും തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു യാഗംകഴിപ്പാന്‍ യെരൂശലേമില്‍ വന്നു.
15and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the male goats, and for the calves which he had made.
16ഇങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ദാവീദിന്റെയും ശലോമോന്റെയും വഴിയില്‍ നടന്നു മൂന്നു സംവത്സരത്തോളം യെഹൂദാരാജ്യത്തിന്നു ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തുകയും ശലോമോന്റെ മകനായ രെഹബെയാമിനെ ബലപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.
16After them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
17രെഹബെയാം ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ യെരീമോത്തിന്റെ മകളായ മഹലാത്തിനെയും യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകനായ എലീയാബിന്റെ മകളായ അബീഹയീലിനെയും വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു.
17So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.
18അവള്‍ അവന്നു യെയൂശ്, ശെമര്‍യ്യാവു, സാഹം എന്നീ പുത്രന്മാരെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.
18Rehoboam took him a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
19അവളുടെശേഷം അവന്‍ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ മകളായ മയഖയെ വിവാഹംകഴിച്ചു; അവള്‍ അവന്നു അബീയാവു, അത്ഥായി, സീസ, ശെലോമീത്ത് എന്നിവരെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.
19and she bore him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
20രെഹബെയാം തന്റെ സകലഭാര്യമാരിലും വെപ്പാട്ടികളിലും വെച്ചു അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ മകളായ മയഖയെ അധികം സ്നേഹിച്ചു; അവന്‍ പതിനെട്ടു ഭാര്യമാരെയും അറുപതു വെപ്പാട്ടികളെയും പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചിരുന്നു; ഇരുപത്തെട്ടു പുത്രന്മാരെയും അറുപതു പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
20After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21രെഹബെയാം മയഖയുടെ മകനായ അബീയാവെ രാജാവാക്കുവാന്‍ ഭാവിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരില്‍ തലവനും പ്രധാനിയുമായി നിയമിച്ചു.
21Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines: (for he took eighteen wives, and sixty concubines, and became the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.)
22അവന്‍ ബുദ്ധിയോടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചുയെഹൂദയുടെയും ബെന്യാമീന്റെയും ദേശങ്ങളിലൊക്കെയും ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിലേക്കെല്ലാം തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും പിരിച്ചയച്ചു, അവര്‍ക്കും ധാരാളം ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങള്‍ കൊടുക്കയും അവര്‍ക്കുംവേണ്ടി അനവധി ഭാര്യമാരെ അന്വേഷിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.
22Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, even the prince among his brothers; for he was minded to make him king.

23He dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to every fortified city: and he gave them food in abundance. He sought for them many wives.
