1ആ കാലത്തു ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു പടവെട്ടേണ്ടതിന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ സേനകളെ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അപ്പോള്‍ ആഖീശ് ദാവീദിനോടുനീയും നിന്റെ ആളുകളും എന്നോടുകൂടെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോരേണം എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്‍ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
1It happened in those days, that the Philistines gathered their hosts together for warfare, to fight with Israel. Achish said to David, Know you assuredly, that you shall go out with me in the host, you and your men.
2എന്നാറെ ദാവീദ് ആഖീശിനോടുഅടിയന്‍ എന്തു ചെയ്യും എന്നു നീ കണ്ടറിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആഖീശ് ദാവീദിനോടുഅതു കെണ്ടു ഞാന്‍ നിന്നെ എപ്പോഴും എന്റെ മെയ്ക്കാവലാക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
2David said to Achish, Therefore you shall know what your servant will do. Achish said to David, Therefore will I make you keeper of my head for ever.
3എന്നാല്‍ ശമൂവേല്‍ മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്നു; യിസ്രായേലെല്ലാം അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിലപിച്ചു അവന്റെ സ്വന്തപട്ടണമായ രാമയില്‍ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. ശൌലോ വെളിച്ചപ്പാടന്മാരെയും മന്ത്രവാദികളെയും ദേശത്തുനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
3Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. Saul had put away those who had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
4എന്നാല്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി ശൂനേമില്‍ പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി; ശൌലും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനെയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ഗില്‍ബോവയില്‍ പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി.
4The Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and encamped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped in Gilboa.
5ശൌല്‍ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ സൈന്യത്തെ കണ്ടു ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം ഏറ്റവും വിറെച്ചു.
5When Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.
6ശൌല്‍ യഹോവയോടു ചോദിച്ചാറെ യഹോവ അവനോടു സ്വപ്നംകൊണ്ടോ ഊറീംകൊണ്ടോ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കൊണ്ടോ ഉത്തരം അരുളിയില്ല.
6When Saul inquired of Yahweh, Yahweh didn't answer him, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7അപ്പോള്‍ ശൌല്‍ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുഎനിക്കു ഒരു വെളിച്ചപ്പാടത്തിയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പിന്‍ ; ഞാന്‍ അവളുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു ചോദിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര്‍ അവനോടുഏന്‍ -ദോരില്‍ ഒരു വെളിച്ചപ്പാടത്തി ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
7Then said Saul to his servants, Seek me a woman who has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. His servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman who has a familiar spirit at En-dor.
8ശൌല്‍ വേഷംമാറി വേറെ വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു രണ്ടാളെയും കൂട്ടി പോയി രാത്രിയില്‍ ആ സ്ത്രീയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ എത്തിവെളിച്ചപ്പാടാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു നീ എനിക്കായി പ്രശ്നം നോക്കുകയും ഞാന്‍ പറയുന്നവനെ വരുത്തിത്തരികയും ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
8Saul disguised himself, and put on other clothing, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, Please divine to me by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whoever I shall name to you.
9സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുശൌല്‍ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളതു, അവന്‍ വെളിച്ചപ്പാടന്മാരെയും മന്ത്രവാദികളെയും ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഛേദിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുതന്നേ നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്നെ കൊല്ലിപ്പാന്‍ നീ എന്റെ ജീവന്നു കണി വെക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9The woman said to him, Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: why then lay you a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
10യഹോവയാണ ഈ കാര്യംകൊണ്ടു നിനക്കു ഒരു ദോഷവും ഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ശൌല്‍ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില്‍ അവളോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞു.
10Saul swore to her by Yahweh, saying, As Yahweh lives, there shall no punishment happen to you for this thing.
11ഞാന്‍ ആരെ വരുത്തിത്തരേണ്ടു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുശമൂവേലിനെ വരുത്തിത്തരേണം എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
11Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up to you? He said, Bring me up Samuel.
12സ്ത്രീ ശമൂവേലിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ ഉച്ചത്തില്‍ നിലവിളിച്ചു, ശൌലിനോടുനീ എന്നെ ചതിച്ചതു എന്തു? നീ ശൌല്‍ ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
12When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, Why have you deceived me? for you are Saul.
13രാജാവു അവളോടുഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നീ കാണുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഒരു ദേവന്‍ ഭൂമിയില്‍നിന്നു കയറിവരുന്നതു ഞാന്‍ കാണുന്നു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ ശൌലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
13The king said to her, Don't be afraid: for what do you see? The woman said to Saul, I see a god coming up out of the earth.
14അവന്‍ അവളോടുഅവന്റെ രൂപം എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവള്‍ഒരു വൃദ്ധന്‍ കയറിവരുന്നു; അവന്‍ ഒരു അങ്കിയും ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാറെ അതു ശമൂവേല്‍ എന്നറിഞ്ഞു ശൌല്‍ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
14He said to her, What form is he of? She said, An old man comes up; and he is covered with a robe. Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and did obeisance.
15ശമൂവേല്‍ ശൌലിനോടുനീ എന്നെ വിളിച്ചതിനാല്‍ എന്റെ സ്വസ്ഥതെക്കു ഭംഗം വരുത്തിയതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു ശൌല്‍ഞാന്‍ മഹാകഷ്ടത്തിലായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്‍ എന്നോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നു; ദൈവം എന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കൊണ്ടാകട്ടെ സ്വപ്നംകൊണ്ടാകട്ടെ എന്നോടു ഉത്തരമരുളുന്നില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന്‍ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണമെന്നു എനിക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന്‍ നിന്നെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
15Samuel said to Saul, Why have you disquieted me, to bring me up? Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answers me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I shall do.
16അതിന്നു ശമൂവേല്‍ പറഞ്ഞതുദൈവം നിന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറി നിനക്കു ശത്രുവായ്തീര്‍ന്നിരിക്കെ നീ എന്തിന്നു എന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നു?
16Samuel said, Why then do you ask of me, seeing Yahweh is departed from you, and is become your adversary?
17യഹോവ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു പറയിച്ചതുപോലെ അവന്‍ നിന്നോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; രാജത്വം യഹോവ നിന്റെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നു പറിച്ചെടുത്തു നിന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനായ ദാവീദിന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
17Yahweh has done to you, as he spoke by me: and Yahweh has torn the kingdom out of your hand, and given it to your neighbor, even to David.
18നീ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന കേട്ടില്ല; അമാലേക്കിന്റെമേല്‍ അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം നടത്തിയതുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഈ കാര്യം ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
18Because you didn't obey the voice of Yahweh, and didn't execute his fierce wrath on Amalek, therefore has Yahweh done this thing to you this day.
19യഹോവ നിന്നെയും യിസ്രായേലിനെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിക്കും; നാളെ നീയും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും എന്നോടുകൂടെ ആകും; യിസ്രായേല്‍പാളയത്തെ യഹോവ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിക്കും.
19Moreover Yahweh will deliver Israel also with you into the hand of the Philistines; and tomorrow shall you and your sons be with me: Yahweh will deliver the host of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines.
20പെട്ടെന്നു ശൌല്‍ നെടുനീളത്തില്‍ നിലത്തു വീണു ശമൂവേലിന്റെ വാക്കുകള്‍ നിമിത്തം ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടുപോയി; അവനില്‍ ഒട്ടും ബലമില്ലാതെയായി; അന്നു രാവും പകലും മുഴുവന്‍ അവന്‍ ഒന്നും ഭക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നു.
20Then Saul fell immediately his full length on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
21അപ്പോള്‍ ആ സ്ത്രീ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നു, അവന്‍ ഏറ്റവും പരിഭ്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവനോടുഅടിയന്‍ നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ജീവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു, നീ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
21The woman came to Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said to him, Behold, your handmaid has listened to your voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have listened to your words which you spoke to me.
22ആകയാല്‍ അടിയന്റെ വാക്കു നീയും കേള്‍ക്കേണമേ. ഞാന്‍ ഒരു കഷണം അപ്പം നിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ വെക്കട്ടെ; നീ തിന്നേണം; എന്നാല്‍ നിന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോകുവാന്‍ നിനക്കു ബലം ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22Now therefore, please listen also to the voice of your handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, that you may have strength, when you go on your way.
23അതിന്നു അവന്‍ വേണ്ടാ, ഞാന്‍ തിന്നുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും ആ സ്ത്രീയും അവനെ നിര്‍ബന്ധിച്ചു; അവന്‍ അവരുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു നിലത്തുനിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു മെത്തമേല്‍ ഇരുന്നു.
23But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, constrained him; and he listened to their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat on the bed.
24സ്ത്രീയുടെ വീട്ടില്‍ ഒരു തടിച്ച പശുക്കിടാവു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവള്‍ ക്ഷണത്തില്‍ അതിനെ അറുത്തു മാവും എടുത്തുകുഴെച്ചു പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പം ചുട്ടു.
24The woman had a fattened calf in the house; and she hurried, and killed it; and she took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread of it:
25അവള്‍ അതു ശൌലിന്റെയും ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെയും മുമ്പില്‍ വെച്ചു. അവര്‍ തിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു രാത്രിയില്‍ തന്നേ പോയി.
25and she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they ate. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
