സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് എല്ലാവരും മേഘത്തിന് കീഴില് ആയിരുന്നു;
1
Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2
എല്ലാവരും സമുദ്രത്തൂടെ കടന്നു എല്ലാവരും മേഘത്തിലും സമുദ്രത്തിലും സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു
2
and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3
മോശെയോടു ചേര്ന്നു എല്ലാവരും
3
and all ate the same spiritual food;
4
ഒരേ ആത്മികാഹാരം തിന്നു എല്ലാവരും ഒരേ ആത്മീകപാനീയം കുടിച്ചു--അവരെ അനുഗമിച്ച ആത്മീകപാറയില്നിന്നല്ലോ അവര് കുടിച്ചതു; ആ പാറ ക്രിസ്തു ആയിരുന്നു —

and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.

എങ്കിലും അവരില് മിക്കപേരിലും ദൈവം പ്രസാദിച്ചില്ല, അവരെ മരുഭൂമിയില് തള്ളിയിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയാതിരിക്കരുതു എന്നു ഞാന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.

However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

ഇതു നമുക്കു ദൃഷ്ടാന്തമായി സംഭവിച്ചു; അവര് മോഹിച്ചതുപോലെ നാമും ദുര്മ്മോഹികള് ആകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

“ജനം തിന്നുവാനും കുടിപ്പാനും ഇരുന്നു, കളിപ്പാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നപ്രകാരം അവരില് ചിലരെപ്പോലെ നിങ്ങള് വിഗ്രഹാരാധികള് ആകരുതു.

Neither be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."

അവരില് ചിലര് പരസംഗം ചെയ്തു ഒരു ദിവസത്തില് ഇരുപത്തുമൂവായിരംപേര് വീണുപോയതുപോലെ നാം പരസംഗം ചെയ്യരുതു.

Neither let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.

അവരില് ചിലര് പരീക്ഷിച്ചു സര്പ്പങ്ങളാല് നശിച്ചുപോയതുപോലെ നാം കര്ത്താവിനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കരുതു.

Neither let us test the Lord, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.

അവരില് ചിലര് പിറുപിറുത്തു സംഹാരിയാല് നശിച്ചുപോയതുപോലെ നിങ്ങള് പിറുപിറുക്കയുമരുതു.

Neither grumble , as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.
11
ഇതു ദൃഷ്ടാന്തമായിട്ടു അവര്ക്കും സംഭവിച്ചു, ലോകാവസാനം വന്നെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന നമുക്കു ബുദ്ധ്യുപദേശത്തിന്നായി എഴുതിയുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

ആകയാല് താന് നിലക്കുന്നു എന്നു തോന്നുന്നവന് വീഴാതിരിപ്പാന് നോക്കിക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ.

Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn't fall.
13
മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും നടപ്പല്ലാത്ത പരീക്ഷ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നേരിട്ടിട്ടില്ല; ദൈവം വിശ്വസ്തന് ; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കഴിയുന്നതിന്നു മീതെ പരീക്ഷ നേരിടുവാന് സമ്മതിക്കാതെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സഹിപ്പാന് കഴിയേണ്ടതിന്നു പരീക്ഷയോടുകൂടെ അവന് പോക്കുവഴിയും ഉണ്ടാക്കും.

No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

അതുകൊണ്ടു പ്രിയന്മാരേ, വിഗ്രഹാരാധന വിട്ടോടുവിന് .

Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
15
നിങ്ങള് വിവേകികള് എന്നുവെച്ചു ഞാന് പറയുന്നു; ഞാന് പറയുന്നതു വിവേചിപ്പിന് .
15
I speak as to wise men. Judge what I say.
16
നാം അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന അനുഗ്രഹപാത്രം ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ രക്തത്തിന്റെ കൂട്ടായ്മ അല്ലയോ? നാം നുറുക്കുന്ന അപ്പം ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ കൂട്ടായ്മ അല്ലയോ?

The cup of blessing which we bless, isn't it a communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn't it a communion of the body of Christ?
17
അപ്പം ഒന്നു ആകകൊണ്ടു പലരായ നാം ഒരു ശരീരം ആകുന്നു; നാം എല്ലാവരും ആ ഒരേ അപ്പത്തില് അംശികള് ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ.

Because we, who are many, are one bread, one body; for we all partake of the one bread.
18
ജഡപ്രകാരമുള്ള യിസ്രായേലിനെ നോക്കുവിന് ; യാഗങ്ങള് ഭുജിക്കുന്നവര് യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ കൂട്ടാളികള് അല്ലയോ?

Consider Israel after the flesh. Don't those who eat the sacrifices have communion with the altar?
19
ഞാന് പറയുന്നതു എന്തു? വിഗ്രഹാര്പ്പിതം വല്ലതും ആകുന്നു എന്നോ? വിഗ്രഹം വല്ലതും ആകുന്നു എന്നോ?

What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?

അല്ല, ജാതികള് ബലികഴിക്കുന്നതു ദൈവത്തിന്നല്ല ഭൂതങ്ങള്ക്കു കഴിക്കുന്നു എന്നത്രേ; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ഭൂതങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടാളികള് ആകുവാന് എനിക്കു മനസ്സില്ല.

But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I don't desire that you would have communion with demons.
21
നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കര്ത്താവിന്റെ പാനപാത്രവും ഭൂതങ്ങളുടെ പാനപാത്രവും കുടിപ്പാന് പാടില്ല; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കര്ത്താവിന്റെ മേശയിലും ഭൂതങ്ങളുടെ മേശയിലും അംശികള് ആകുവാനും പാടില്ല.

You can't both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can't both partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.

അല്ല, നാം കര്ത്താവിന്നു ക്രോധം ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നുവോ? അവനെക്കാള് നാം ബലവാന്മാരോ?

Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
23
സകലത്തിന്നും എനിക്കു കര്ത്തവ്യം ഉണ്ടു; എങ്കിലും സകലവും പ്രയോജനമുള്ളതല്ല. സകലത്തിന്നും എനിക്കു കര്ത്തവ്യം ഉണ്ടു; എങ്കിലും സകലവും ആത്മികവര്ദ്ധന വരുത്തുന്നില്ല.

"All things are lawful for me," but not all things are profitable. "All things are lawful for me," but not all things build up.
24
ഔരോരുത്തന് സ്വന്ത ഗുണമല്ല, മറ്റുള്ളവന്റെ ഗുണം അന്വേഷിക്കട്ടെ.
24
Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor's good.
25
അങ്ങാടിയില് വിലക്കുന്നതു എന്തെങ്കിലും മനസ്സാക്ഷി നിമിത്തം ഒന്നും അന്വേഷണം കഴിക്കാതെ തിന്നുവിന് .

Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,
26
ഭൂമിയും അതിന്റെ പൂര്ണ്ണതയും കര്ത്താവിന്നുള്ളതല്ലോ.

for "the earth is the Lord's, and its fullness."

അവിശ്വാസികളില് ഒരുവന് നിങ്ങളെ ക്ഷണിച്ചാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പോകുവാന് മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കില് നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില് വിളമ്പുന്നതു എന്തായാലും മനസ്സാക്ഷിനിമിത്തം ഒന്നും അന്വേഷിക്കാതെ തിന്നുവിന് .

But if one of those who don't believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.

എങ്കിലും ഒരുവന് ഇതു വിഗ്രഹാര്പ്പിതം എന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞാല് ആ അറിയിച്ചവന് നിമിത്തവും മനസ്സാക്ഷിനിമിത്തവും തിന്നരുതു.

But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," don't eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For "the earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness."

മനസ്സാക്ഷി എന്നു ഞാന് പറയുന്നതു തന്റേതല്ല മറ്റേവന്റേതത്രെ. എന്റെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം അന്യമനസ്സാക്ഷിയാല് വിധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?

Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other's conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?

നന്ദിയോടെ അനുഭവിച്ചു സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്ത സാധനംനിമിത്തം ഞാന് ദുഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?

If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for that for which I give thanks?

ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് തിന്നാലും കുടിച്ചാലും എന്തുചെയ്താലും എല്ലാം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വത്തിന്നായി ചെയ്വിന് .
31
Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
32
യെഹൂദന്മാര്ക്കും യവനന്മാര്ക്കും ദൈവസഭെക്കും ഇടര്ച്ചയല്ലാത്തവരാകുവിന് .
32
Give no occasions for stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;
33
ഞാനും എന്റെ ഗുണമല്ല, പലര് രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ ഗുണം തന്നേ അന്വേഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു എല്ലാവരെയും എല്ലാംകൊണ്ടും പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
