ನಿಮ್ಮೆದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ದೀನನಾಗಿಯೂ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಡೆಗೆ ದಿಟ್ಟತನ ತೋರಿಸುವವನಾಗಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ನೀವು ತಿಳಿಯುವ ಪೌಲನೆಂಬ ನಾನೇ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಶಾಂತ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಸಾತ್ವಿಕತ್ವದಿಂದಲೂ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.

Now I Paul, myself, entreat you by the humility and gentleness of Christ; I who in your presence am lowly among you, but being absent am of good courage toward you.

ಯಾರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಶರೀರಾ ನುಸಾರವಾಗಿ ಎಣಿಸುತ್ತಾರೋ ಅವರಿಗೆ ದಿಟ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಾನು ಯೋಚಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದೇನೆ: ನಾವು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿರುವಾಗ ಅಂಥ ದಿಟ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವಕಾಶವಾಗಬಾರದೆಂದು ನಿಮ್ಮನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.

Yes, I beg you that I may not, when present, show courage with the confidence with which I intend to be bold against some, who consider us to be walking according to the flesh.

ನಾವು ಶರೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರಾದರೂ ಶರೀರ ಪ್ರಕಾರವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವವರಲ್ಲ.

For though we walk in the flesh, we don't wage war according to the flesh;

(ನಾವು ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸುವ ಯುದ್ಧಾಯುಧಗಳು ಶರೀರ ಸಂಬಂಧವಾದ ಆಯುಧ ಗಳಲ್ಲ; ಅವು ದೇವರ ಮೂಲಕ ಬಲವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಬಲ ವಾದ ಕೋಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಹಾಕುವಂಥವುಗಳಾಗಿವೆ).

for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds,

ನಾವು ಊಹೆಗಳನ್ನು ದೇವಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನೂ ವಿರೋಧಿ ಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಉನ್ನತವಾದವುಗಳೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕೆಡವಿಹಾಕಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯೋಚನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಿಗೆ ವಿಧೇಯವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದು

throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

ನಾವು ಊಹೆಗಳನ್ನು ದೇವಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನೂ ವಿರೋಧಿ ಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿರುವ ಉನ್ನತವಾದವುಗಳೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕೆಡವಿಹಾಕಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯೋಚನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನಿಗೆ ವಿಧೇಯವಾಗುವಂತೆ ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದು

and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience will be made full.

ನೀವು ಹೊರಗಿನ ತೋರಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನೇ ನೋಡು ತ್ತೀರೋ? ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನವನೆಂದು ನಂಬಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅವನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ತಾನು ಹೇಗೆ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನವನೋ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾವೂ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನವರೆಂದು ಆಲೋಚಿಸಲಿ.

Do you look at things only as they appear in front of your face? If anyone trusts in himself that he is Christ's, let him consider this again with himself, that, even as he is Christ's, so also we are Christ's.

ನಮಗಿರುವ ಅಧಿಕಾರವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ನಾವು ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಂಡರೂ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ನಾಚಿಕಪಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿ ಹಾಕುವದಕ್ಕಲ್ಲ, ಭಕ್ತವೃದ್ಧಿಗಾಗಿಯೇ ಕರ್ತನು ಈ ಅಧಿಕಾರವನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.

For though I should boast somewhat abundantly concerning our authority, (which the Lord gave for building you up, and not for casting you down) I will not be disappointed,

ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹೆದರಿಸುವವನಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲ.

that I may not seem as if I desire to terrify you by my letters.

ಅವರು--ಅವನ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳು ಗೌರವವಾದವುಗಳೂ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳವುಗಳೂ ಆಗಿವೆ; ಅವನು ಸಾಕ್ಷಾತ್ತಾಗಿ ಬಂದರೆ ಅವನು ನಿರ್ಬಲನು, ಅವನ ಮಾತು ಗಣನೆಗೆಬಾರದ್ದು ಎಂದು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ.

For, "His letters," they say, "are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is despised."

ಅಂಥವರು, ನಾವು ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಂಥವರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೋ ಹತ್ತಿರ ದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅಂಥವರಾಗಿಯೇ ಇರುವೆವೆಂದು ತಿಳುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ.

Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when we are absent, such are we also in deed when we are present.

ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವೇ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಕೆಲವರಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿ ನಮಗೆ ಧೈರ್ಯ ಸಾಲದು; ಅವರಂತೂ ತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅಳತೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ತಮತಮಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ವಿವೇಕವಿಲ್ಲದವರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves. But they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding.

ನಾವಾದರೊ ಮೇರೆ ತಪ್ಪಿ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ದೇವರು ನಮಗೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಟ ಮೇರೆಯೊಳಗಿದ್ದು ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ; ಈ ಮೇರೆ ಯೊಳಗಿದ್ದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪರ್ಯಂತರಕ್ಕೂ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

But we will not boast beyond proper limits, but within the boundaries with which God appointed to us, which reach even to you.

ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರುತ್ತಾ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ನಾವು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಲುಪಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನು ಅತಿಕ್ರಮಿಸಿದವರಲ್ಲ.

For we don't stretch ourselves too much, as though we didn't reach to you. For we came even as far as to you with the gospel of Christ,
15
ನಾವು ಮೇರೆತಪ್ಪಿ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬರ ಪ್ರಯಾಸದ ಫಲಗಳನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಇವು ನಮ್ಮವು ಎಂದು ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರಲ್ಲ; ಆದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿದ ಹಾಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೂಲಕ ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇರೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಹೊಂದುವೆವು;

not boasting beyond proper limits in other men's labors, but having hope that as your faith grows, we will be abundantly enlarged by you in our sphere of influence,
16
ನಿಮಗೆ ಆಚೆ ಇರುವ ಸೀಮೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರುವೆವೆಂಬ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ನಮಗುಂಟು; ಆದರೆ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬರ ಮೇರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿರುವವುಗಳು ನಮಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದವುಗಳೆಂದು ನಾವು ಹೆಚ್ಚಳಪಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ.

so as to preach the gospel even to the parts beyond you, not to boast in what someone else has already done.

ಹೆಚ್ಚಳ ಪಡುವವನು ಕರ್ತನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳಪಡಲಿ.ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನೇ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಯೋಗ್ಯ ನಲ್ಲ; ಕರ್ತನು ಯಾರನ್ನು ಹೊಗಳುತ್ತಾನೋ ಅವನೇ ಯೋಗ್ಯನು.
17
But "he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord."
18
ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಾನೇ ಹೊಗಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಯೋಗ್ಯ ನಲ್ಲ; ಕರ್ತನು ಯಾರನ್ನು ಹೊಗಳುತ್ತಾನೋ ಅವನೇ ಯೋಗ್ಯನು.

For it isn't he who commends himself who is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
