ಜೀಫ್ಯರು ಗಿಬೆಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಸೌಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು--ದಾವೀದನು ಯೆಷಿಮೋನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾದ ಹಕೀಲಾ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದರು.

The Ziphites came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doesn't David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert?

ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ಎದ್ದು ಜೀಫ್‌ ಅರಣ್ಯ ದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಮೂರು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರ ಸಂಗಡ ಜೀಫ್‌ ಅರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಷಿಮೋನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹಕೀಲಾ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಡಿಳಿದನು.

Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

ಆದರೆ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಅರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ದ್ದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ದಾವೀದನು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತನು.

Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah, which is before the desert, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.

ದಾವೀದನು ಗೂಢಾಚಾರರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಸೌಲನು ಬಂದದ್ದು ನಿಶ್ಚಯವೆಂದು ತಿಳುಕೊಂಡನು.

David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come of a certainty.

ದಾವೀ ದನು ಎದ್ದು ಸೌಲನು ಇಳುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದನು; ಸೌಲನೂ ಅವನ ದಂಡಿನ ನಾಯಕನಾಗಿ ರುವ ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನೂ ಮಲಗಿರುವ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನು ನೋಡಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಸೌಲನು ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗಿದ್ದನು; ಜನರು ಅವನ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ದಂಡಾಗಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.

David arose, and came to the place where Saul had encamped; and David saw the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay within the place of the wagons, and the people were encamped round about him.

ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಅಹೀಮೆಲೆಕನನ್ನೂ ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಗ ನಾಗಿರುವ ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಅಬೀಷೈ ಯನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿ--ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ದಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿ ಸಲು ಬರುವವನು ಯಾರೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು; ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬೀಷೈಯು--ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? Abishai said, I will go down with you.

ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅಬೀಷೈಯೂ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಜನರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಇಗೋ, ಸೌಲನು ಕಂದಕದೊಳಗೆ ಮಲಗಿ ನಿದ್ರೆಮಾಡು ತ್ತಿದ್ದನು; ಅವನ ಈಟಿಯು ಅವನ ತಲೆದಿಂಬಿನ ಬಳಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಅಬ್ನೇರನೂ ಜನರೂ ಮಲಗಿದ್ದರು.

So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the place of the wagons, with his spear stuck in the ground at his head; and Abner and the people lay round about him.

ಆಗ ಅಬೀಷೈಯು ದಾವೀ ದನಿಗೆ--ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ದೇವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಶತ್ರುವನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಈಗ ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಈಟಿಯಿಂದ ಒಂದೇ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹತ್ತುವಂತೆ ಹೊಡೆಯಲು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು; ಎರಡು ಸಾರಿ ಹೊಡೆಯುವದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.

Then said Abishai to David, God has delivered up your enemy into your hand this day: now therefore please let me strike him with the spear to the earth at one stroke, and I will not strike him the second time.

ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಅಬೀಷೈಯನಿಗೆ -- ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಬೇಡ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಕರ್ತನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಕೈ ಹಾಕುವವನು ನಿರಪರಾಧಿಯಾಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.

David said to Abishai, Don't destroy him; for who can put forth his hand against Yahweh's anointed, and be guiltless?

ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ದಾವೀದನು--ಕರ್ತನ ಜೀವ ದಾಣೆ, ಕರ್ತನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುವನು; ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಅವನ ಕಾಲ ಬಂದು ಅವನು ಸಾಯುವನು; ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನಾಶವಾಗುವನು.

David said, As Yahweh lives, Yahweh will strike him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish.
11
ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕದಹಾಗೆ ಕರ್ತನು ನನಗೆ ಆಟಂಕಮಾಡಲಿ. ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ಅವನ ತಲೆದಿಂಬಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೀರಿನ ತಂಬಿಗೆಯನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ;

Yahweh forbid that I should put forth my hand against Yahweh's anointed: but now please take the spear that is at his head, and the jar of water, and let us go.
12
ನಾವು ಹೋಗೋಣ ಅಂದನು. ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನ ತಲೆ ದಿಂಬಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೀರಿನ ತಂಬಿಗೆ ಯನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವರು ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದರು. ಒಬ್ಬರಾದರೂ ನೋಡಿದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ; ಅರಿತಿದ್ದಿಲ್ಲ; ಯಾರೂ ಎಚ್ಚತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ಅಗಾಧ ನಿದ್ರೆಯು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಳಿದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನಿದ್ರೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

So David took the spear and the jar of water from Saul's head; and they got them away: and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither did any awake; for they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from Yahweh was fallen on them.

ದಾವೀದನು ದಾಟಿ ಆ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತಮಗೂ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಸ್ಥಳ ಇರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ದೂರವಾಗಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಜನರಿಗೂ ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನಿಗೂ ಎದು ರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--

Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of the mountain afar off; a great space being between them;

ಅಬ್ನೇರನೇ, ನೀನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ಕೊಡುವದಿಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಕೂಗುವ ನೀನು ಯಾರು ಅಂದನು.

and David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Don't you answer, Abner? Then Abner answered, Who are you who cries to the king?

ಆಗ ದಾವೀ ದನು ಅಬ್ನೇರನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ -- ನೀನು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾದವನು ಯಾರು? ಆದರೆ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಕಾಯದೆ ಹೋದದ್ದೇನು? ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ನಿನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದನು.

David said to Abner, Aren't you a valiant man? and who is like you in Israel? why then have you not kept watch over your lord, the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king your lord.
16
ನೀನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಒಳ್ಳೇದಲ್ಲ. ಕರ್ತನ ಜೀವ ದಾಣೆ--ಕರ್ತನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನಾದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಒಡೆಯನನ್ನು ಕಾಯದೆ ಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ನೀವು ಪಾತ್ರರು. ಈಗ ಅರಸನ ತಲೆದಿಂಬಿನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅವನ ಈಟಿಯೂ ನೀರಿನ ತಂಬಿಗೆಯೂ ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಇವೆಯೋ ನೋಡು ಅಂದನು.

This thing isn't good that you have done. As Yahweh lives, you are worthy to die, because you have not kept watch over your lord, Yahweh's anointed. Now see where the king's spear is, and the jar of water that was at his head.
17
ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನ ಶಬ್ದವನ್ನು ತಿಳುಕೊಂಡು--ನನ್ನ ಕುಮಾರನಾದ ದಾವೀ ದನೇ, ಇದು ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ವರವಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದನು. ದಾವೀ ದನು--ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವರವೇ ಹೌದು ಅಂದನು.

Saul knew David's voice, and said, Is this your voice, my son David? David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.
18
ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕ ನನ್ನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವದೇನು? ನಾನೇನು ಮಾಡಿ ದೆನು? ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನು ಕೆಟ್ಟತನ ಅದೆ?

He said, Why does my lord pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in my hand?
19
ಈಗ ಅರಸನಾದ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲಿ. ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದರೆ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಲಿ; ಆದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಇದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅವರು ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಶಪಿಸಲ್ಪಡಲಿ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ಅನ್ಯದೇವರುಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವರು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರದ ಹಾಗೆ ಓಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.

Now therefore, please let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it be Yahweh that has stirred you up against me, let him accept an offering: but if it be the children of men, cursed be they before Yahweh: for they have driven me out this day that I shouldn't cling to Yahweh's inheritance, saying, Go, serve other gods.
20
ಆದದರಿಂದ ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಖದ ಮುಂದೆ ನನ್ನ ರಕ್ತವು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳದಿರಲಿ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಬೆಟ್ಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೌಜುಗವನ್ನು ಬೇಟೆಯಾಡುವಂತೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಒಂದು ಕೀಟವನ್ನು ಹುಡು ಕಲು ಹೊರಟನು ಎಂಬದೇ.

Now therefore, don't let my blood fall to the earth away from the presence of Yahweh: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one does hunt a partridge in the mountains.
21
ಆಗ ಸೌಲನುನಾನು ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದೆನು; ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀ ದನೇ, ತಿರಿಗಿ ಬಾ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಜೀವವು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಇನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೇಡುಮಾಡೆನು; ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ಹುಚ್ಚು ಕೆಲಸಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಮಹಾ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾದ ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಡಿದೆನು ಅಂದನು.

Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David; for I will no more do you harm, because my life was precious in your eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.
22
ದಾವೀದನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ಇಗೋ, ಅರಸನ ಈಟಿಯು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅದೆ. ಪ್ರಾಯದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಈ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅದನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಲಿ.

David answered, Behold the spear, O king! let then one of the young men come over and get it.
23
ಆದರೆ ಕರ್ತನು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊ ಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಅವನ ನೀತಿಗೂ ಅವನ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತಿಕೆಗೂ ತಕ್ಕ ಫಲವನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲಿ. ಕರ್ತನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಕರ್ತನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನ ಮೇಲೆ ನನ್ನ ಕೈಚಾಚಲು ಮನಸ್ಸಿ ಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದ್ದೆನು.

Yahweh will render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; because Yahweh delivered you into my hand today, and I wouldn't put forth my hand against Yahweh's anointed.
24
ಇಗೋ, ಈ ದಿನ ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ನನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿತ್ತೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ಕರ್ತನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿರಲಿ. ಆತನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಕಟದಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಬಿಡಲಿ ಅಂದನು.ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀದನೇ, ನೀನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಲ್ಪ ಡುವಿ; ನೀನು ಮಹತ್ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವಿ, ಗೆದ್ದೇ ಗೆಲ್ಲುವಿ ಅಂದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ದಾರಿಹಿಡಿದು ಹೋದನು; ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದನು.

Behold, as your life was much set by this day in my eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of Yahweh, and let him deliver me out of all oppression.
25
ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀದನೇ, ನೀನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಲ್ಪ ಡುವಿ; ನೀನು ಮಹತ್ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವಿ, ಗೆದ್ದೇ ಗೆಲ್ಲುವಿ ಅಂದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ದಾರಿಹಿಡಿದು ಹೋದನು; ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದನು.
25
Then Saul said to David, Blessed be you, my son David: you shall both do mightily, and shall surely prevail. So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.
