ಆದದರಿಂದ ದಾವೀದನು ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಂಗಡಲೂ ಜನರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರ ಸಂಗಡಲೂ--ನಾನು ಜನರ ಲೆಕ್ಕವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬವು ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ದಾನಿನ ವರೆಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಿ ಅವರ ಲೆಕ್ಕವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.

David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know the sum of them.
