1चांदी की खानि तो होती है, और सोने के लिये भी स्थान होता है जहां लोग ताते हैं।
1"Surely there is a mine for silver, And a place for gold which they refine.
2जोहा मिट्टी में से निकाला जाता और पत्थर पिघलाकर पीतल बनाया जाता है
2Iron is taken out of the earth, And copper is smelted out of the ore.
3मनुष्य अन्धियारे को दूर कर, दूर दूर तक खोद खोद कर, अन्धियारे ओर घोर अन्धकार में पत्थर ढूंढ़ते हैं।
3Man sets an end to darkness, And searches out, to the furthest bound, The stones of obscurity and of thick darkness.
4जहां लोग रहते हैं वहां से दूर वे खानि खोदते हैं वहां पृथ्वी पर चलनेवालों के भूले बिसरे हुए वे मनुष्यों से दूर लटके हुए झूलते रहते हैं।
4He breaks open a shaft away from where people live. They are forgotten by the foot. They hang far from men, they swing back and forth.
5यह भूमि जो है, इस से रोटी तो मिलती है, परन्तु उसके नीचे के स्थान मानो आग से उलट दिए जाते हैं।
5As for the earth, out of it comes bread; Underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.
6उसके पत्थ्र नीलमणि का स्थान हैं, और उसी में सोने की धूलि भी है।
6Sapphires come from its rocks. It has dust of gold.
7उसका मार्ग कोई मांसाहारी पक्षी नहीं जानता, और किसी गिठ्ठ की दृष्टि उस पर नहीं पड़ी।
7That path no bird of prey knows, Neither has the falcon's eye seen it.
8उस पर अभिमानी पशुओं ने पांव नहीं धरा, और न उस से होकर कोई सिंह कभी गया है।
8The proud animals have not trodden it, Nor has the fierce lion passed by there.
9वह चकमक के पत्थर पर हाथ लगाता, और पहाड़ों को जड़ ही से उलट देता है।
9He puts forth his hand on the flinty rock, And he overturns the mountains by the roots.
10वह चट्टान खोदकर नालियां बनाता, और उसकी आंखों को हर एक अनमोल वस्तु दिखाई पड़ती है।
10He cuts out channels among the rocks. His eye sees every precious thing.
11वह नदियों को ऐसा रोक देता है, कि उन से एक बूंद भी पानी नहीं टपकता और जो कुछ छिपा है उसे वह उजियाले में निकालता है।
11He binds the streams that they don't trickle; The thing that is hidden he brings forth to light.
12परन्तु बुध्दि कहां मिल सकती है? और समझ का स्थान कहां है?
12"But where shall wisdom be found? Where is the place of understanding?
13उसका मोल मनुष्य को मालूम नहीं, जीवनलोक में वह कहीं नहीं मिलती !
13Man doesn't know its price; Neither is it found in the land of the living.
14अथाह सागर कहता है, वह मुझ में नहीं है, और समुद्र भी कहता है, वह मेरे पास नहीं है।
14The deep says, 'It isn't in me.' The sea says, 'It isn't with me.'
15चोखे सोने से वह मोल लिया नहीं जाता। और न उसके दाम के लिये चान्दी तौली जाती है।
15It can't be gotten for gold, Neither shall silver be weighed for its price.
16न तो उसके साथ ओपीर के कुन्दन की बराबरी हो सकती है; और न अनमोल सुलैमानी पत्थर वा नीलमणि की।
16It can't be valued with the gold of Ophir, With the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
17न सोना, न कांच उसके बराबर ठहर सकता है, कुन्दन के गहने के बदले भी वह नहीं मिलती।
17Gold and glass can't equal it, Neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold.
18मूंगे और स्फटिकमणि की उसके आगे क्या चर्चा ! बुध्दि का मोल माणिक से भी अधिक है।
18No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal: Yes, the price of wisdom is above rubies.
19कूश देश के पद्मराग उसके तुल्य नहीं ठहर सकते; और न उस से चोखे कुन्दन की बराबरी हो सकती है।
19The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, Neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
20फिर बुध्दि कहां मिल सकती है? और समझ का स्थान कहां?
20Whence then comes wisdom? Where is the place of understanding?
21वह सब प्राणियों की आंखों से छिपी है, और आकाश के पक्षियों के देखने में नहीं आती।
21Seeing it is hidden from the eyes of all living, And kept close from the birds of the sky.
22विनाश ओर मृत्यु कहती हैं, कि हमने उसकी चर्चा सुनी है।
22Destruction and Death say, 'We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.'
23परन्तु परमेश्वर उसका मार्ग समझता है, और उसका स्थान उसको मालूम है।
23"God understands its way, And he knows its place.
24वह तो पृथ्वी की छोर तक ताकता रहता है, और सारे आकाशमणडल के तले देखता भालता है।
24For he looks to the ends of the earth, And sees under the whole sky.
25जब उस ने वायु का तौल ठहराया, और जल को नपुए में नापा,
25He establishes the force of the wind; Yes, he measures out the waters by measure.
26और मेंह के लिये विधि और गर्जन और बिजली के लिये मार्ग ठहराया,
26When he made a decree for the rain, And a way for the lightning of the thunder;
27तब उस ने बुध्दि को देखकर उसका बखान भी किया, और उसको सिठ्ठ करके उसका पूरा भेद बूझ लिया।
27Then did he see it, and declare it. He established it, yes, and searched it out.
28तब उस न मनुष्य से कहा, देख, प्रभु का भय मानना यही बुध्दि हैे और बुराई से दूर रहना यही समझ है।
28To man he said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. To depart from evil is understanding.'"
