1हे मेरे भाइयों, हमारे महिमायुक्त प्रभु यीशु मसीह का विश्वास तुम में पक्षपात के साथ न हो।
1My brothers, don't hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality.
2क्योंकि यदि एक पुरूष सोने के छल्ले और सुन्दर वस्त्रा पहिने हुए तुम्हारी सभा में आए और एक कंगाल भी मैले कुचैले कपड़े पहिने हुए आए।
2For if a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your assembly, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in;
3और तुम उस सुन्दर वस्त्रावाले का मुंह देखकर कहो कि तू वहां अच्छी जगह बैठ; और उस कंगाल से कहो, कि तू यहां खड़ा रह, या मेरे पांव की पीढ़ी के पास बैठ।
3and you pay special attention to him who wears the fine clothing, and say, "Sit here in a good place;" and you tell the poor man, "Stand there," or "Sit by my footstool;"
4तो क्या तुम ने आपस में भेद भाव न किया और कुविचार से न्याय करनेवाले न ठहरे?
4haven't you shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
5हे मेरे प्रिय भाइयों सुनो; क्या परमेश्वर ने इस जगत के कंगालों को नहीं चुना कि विश्वास में धर्मी, और उस राज्य के अधिकारी हों, जिस की प्रतिज्ञा उस ने उन से की है जो उस से प्रेम रखते हैं?
5Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn't God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to those who love him?
6पर तुम ने उस कंगाल का अपमान किया: क्या धनी लोग तुम पर अत्याचार नहीं करते और क्या वे ही तुम्हें कचहरियों में घसीट घसीट कर नहीं ले जाते?
6But you have dishonored the poor man. Don't the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts?
7क्या वे उस उत्तम नाम की निन्दा नहीं करते जिस के तुम कहलाए जाते हो?
7Don't they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called?
8तौभी यदि तुम पवित्रा शास्त्रा के इस वचन के अनुसार, कि तू अपने पड़ोसी से अपने समान प्रेम रख, सचमुच उस राज्य व्यवस्था को पूरी करते हो, तो अच्छा करते हो।
8However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.
9पर यदि तुम पक्षपात करते हो, तो पाप करते हो; और व्यवस्था तुम्हें अपराधी ठहराती है।
9But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
10क्योंकि जो कोई सारी व्यवस्था का पालन करता है परन्तु एक ही बात में चूक जाए तो वह सब बातों मे दोषी ठहरा।
10For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he has become guilty of all.
11इसलिये कि जिस ने यह कहा, कि तू व्यभिचार न करना उसी ने यह भी कहा, कि तू हत्या न करना इसलिये यदि तू ने व्यभिचार तो नहीं किया, पर हत्या की तौभी तू व्यवस्था का उलंघन करने वाला ठहरा।
11For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," said also, "Do not commit murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
12तुम उन लोगों की नाई वचन बोलो, और काम भी करो, जिन का न्याय स्वतंत्राता की व्यवस्था के अनुसार होगा।
12So speak , and so do, as men who are to be judged by a law of freedom.
13क्योंकि जिस ने दया नहीं की, उसका न्याय बिना दया के होगा: दया न्याय पर जयवन्त होती है।।
13For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
14हे मेरे भाइयों, यदि कोई कहे कि मुझे विश्वास है पर वह कर्म न करता हो, तो उस से क्या लाभ? क्या ऐसा विश्वास कभी उसका उद्धार कर सकता है?
14What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him?
15यदि कोई भाई या बहिन नगें उघाड़े हों, और उन्हें प्रति दिन भोजन की घटी हो।
15And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food,
16और तुम में से कोई उन से कहे, कुशल से जाओ, तुम गरम रहो और तृप्त रहो; पर जो वस्तुएं देह के लिये आवश्यक हैं वह उन्हें न दे, तो क्या लाभ?
16and one of you tells them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled;" and yet you didn't give them the things the body needs, what good is it?
17वैसे ही विश्वास भी, यदि कर्म सहित न हो तो अपने स्वभाव में मरा हुआ है।
17Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.
18बरन कोई कह सकता है कि तुझे विश्वास है, और मैं कर्म करता हूं: तू अपना विश्वास मुझे कर्म बिना तो दिखा; और मैं अपना विश्वास अपने कर्मों के द्वारा तुझे दिखाऊंगा।
18Yes, a man will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.
19तुझे विश्वास है कि एक ही परमेश्वर है: तू अच्छा करता है: दुष्टात्मा भी विश्वास रखते, और थरथराते हैं।
19You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder.
20पर हे निकम्मे मनुष्य क्या तू यह भी नहीं जानता, कि कर्म बिना विश्वास व्यर्थ है?
20But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead?
21जब हमारे पिता इब्राहीम ने अपने पुत्रा इसहाक को वेदी पर चढ़ाया, तो क्या वह कर्मो से धार्मिक न ठहरा था।
21Wasn't Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
22सो तू ने देख लिया कि विश्वास ने उस के कामों के साथ मिलकर प्रभाव डाला है और कर्मो से विश्वास सिद्ध हुआ।
22You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected;
23और पवित्रा शास्त्रा का यह वचन पूरा हुआ, कि इब्राहीम ने परमेश्वर की प्रतीति की, और यह उसके लिये धर्म गिना गया, और वह परमेश्वर का मित्रा कहलाया।
23and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness;" and he was called the friend of God.
24सो तुम ने देख लिया कि मनुष्य केवल विश्वास से ही नहीं, बरन कर्मों से भी धर्मी ठहरता है।
24You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith.
25वैसे ही राहाब वेश्या भी जब उस ने दूतों को अपने घर में उतारा, और दूसरे मार्ग से विदा किया, तो क्या कर्मों से धार्मिक न ठहरी?
25In like manner wasn't Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?
26निदान, जैसे देह आत्मा बिना मरी हुई है वैसा ही विश्वास भी कर्म बिना मरा हुआ है।।
26For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.
