1मुझ प्राचीन की ओर से उस चुनी हुई श्रीमती और उसके लड़केबालों के नाम जिन से मैं उस सच्चाई के कारण सत्य प्रेम रखता हूं, जा हम में स्थिर रहती है, और सर्वदा हमारे साथ अटल रहेगी।
1The elder, to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth; and not I only, but also all those who know the truth;
2और केवल मैं ही नहीं, बरन वह सब भी प्रेम रखते हैं, जो सच्चाई को जानते हैं।।
2for the truth's sake, which remains in us, and it will be with us forever:
3परमेश्वर पिता, और पिता के पुत्रा यीशु मसीह की ओर से अनुग्रह, और दया, और शान्ति, सत्य, और प्रेम सहित हमारे साथ रहेंगे।।
3Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4मैं बहुत आनन्दित हुआ, कि मैं ने तेरे कितने लड़के- बालों को उस आज्ञा के अनुसार, जो हमें पिता की ओर से मिली थी सत्य पर चलते हुए पाया।
4I rejoice greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, even as we have been commanded by the Father.
5अब हे श्रीमती, मैं तुझे कोई नई आज्ञा नहीं, पर वही जो आरम्भ से हमारे पास है, लिखता हूं; और तुझ से बिनती करता हूं, कि हम एक दूसरे से प्रेम रखें।
5Now I beg you, dear lady, not as though I wrote to you a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6और प्रेम यह है कि हम उस की आज्ञाओं के अनुसार चलें: यह वही आज्ञा है, जो तुम ने आरम्भ से सुनी है और तुम्हें इस पर चलना भी चाहिए।
6This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.
7क्योंकि बहुत से ऐसे भरमानेवाले जगत में निकल आए हैं, जो यह नहीं मानते, कि यीशु मसीह शरीर में होकर आया: भरमानेवाला और मसीह का विरोधी यही है।
7For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don't confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist.
8अपने विषय में चौकस रहो; कि जो परिश्रम हम ने किया है, उस को तुम न बिगाड़ो: बरन उसका पूरा प्रतिफल पाओ।
8Watch yourselves, that we don't lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward.
9जो कोई आगे बढ़ जाता है, और मसीह की शिक्षा में बना नहीं रहता, उसके पास परमेश्वर नहीं: जो कोई उस की शिक्षा में स्थिर रहता है, उसके पास पिता भी है, और पुत्रा भी।
9Whoever transgresses and doesn't remain in the teaching of Christ, doesn't have God. He who remains in the teaching, the same has both the Father and the Son.
10यदि कोई तुम्हारे पास आए, और यही शिक्षा न दे, उसे न तो घर मे आने दो, और न नमस्कार करो।
10If anyone comes to you, and doesn't bring this teaching, don't receive him into your house, and don't welcome him,
11क्योंकि जो कोई ऐसे जन को नमस्कार करता है, वह उस के बुरे कामों में साझी होता है।।
11for he who welcomes him participates in his evil works.
12मुझे बहुत सी बातें तुम्हें लिखनी हैं, पर कागज और सियाही से लिखना नहीं चाहता; पर आशा है, कि मैं तुम्हारे पास आऊंगा, और सम्मुख होकर बातचीत करूंगा: जिस से तुम्हारा आनन्द पूरा हो।
12Having many things to write to you, I don't want to do so with paper and ink, but I hope to come to you, and to speak face to face, that our joy may be made full.
13तेरी चुनी हुई बहिन के लड़के- बाले तुझे नमस्कार करते हैं।
13The children of your chosen sister greet you. Amen.
