1મારા લોકો, મારો નિયમ સાંભળો; મારા મુખના શબ્દોને તમે ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો.
1A contemplation by Asaph. Hear my law, my people. Turn your ears to the words of my mouth.
2હું ષ્ટાંતો દ્વારા તમારી સાથે વાત કરીશ, અને હું ભૂતકાળનાં રહસ્યોની વાત સમજાવીશ.
2I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings of old,
3જે વાત આપણે સાંભળી છે તથા જાણી છે; જે આપણા પૂર્વજોએ આપણને કહી છે.
3Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.
4યહોવાના મહિમાવંત સ્તુતિપાત્ર કૃત્યો, તેમનું પરાક્રમ અને આશ્ચર્યકમોર્ આપણા સંતાનોથી આપણે સંતાડીશું નહિ; આપણે આપણી ભાવિ પેઢીને જણાવીશું.
4We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of Yahweh, His strength, and his wondrous works that he has done.
5કારણકે તેમણે યાકૂબ સાથે તેમનો કરાર કર્યો અને તેણે ઇસ્રાએલને નિયમ આપ્યો, તેમણે આપણા પૂર્વજોને આદેશ આપ્યો કે તેમણે તેમના બાળકોને આ બાબતમાં કહેવું.
5For he established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which he commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children;
6જેથી આવતી પેઢીનાં જે બાળકો જન્મે તેઓ તે જાણે, અને તેઓ મોટાઁ થઇને પોતાનાં સંતાનોને તે જણાવે.
6That the generation to come might know, even the children who should be born; Who should arise and tell their children,
7જેથી તેઓ સહુ દેવનો આશા રાખે, અને દેવનાં અદભૂત કાર્યોને વિસરી જાય નહિ, અને તેમની આજ્ઞાઓને પાળે.
7That they might set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep his commandments,
8વળી તેઓ પોતાના પિતૃઓ જેવા હઠીલા, બંડખોર, અવિશ્વાસુ અને દેવને પોતાનું અંત:કરણ સોંપવાનો નકાર કરનાર ન થાય.
8And might not be as their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that didn't make their hearts loyal, Whose spirit was not steadfast with God.
9એફ્રાઇમના લોકો શસ્રસજ્જ હતાં છતાં તેઓએ યુદ્ધ દિને પીછેહઠ કરી.
9The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, Turned back in the day of battle.
10કારણ, તેમણે દેવનો કરાર પાળ્યો નહિ; અને તેમના નિયમ પ્રમાણે વર્તવાની ના પાડી.
10They didn't keep God's covenant, And refused to walk in his law.
11તેમણે કરેલા અદૃભૂત ચમત્કારો તેઓએ નિહાળ્યા હતાઁ, છતાં તેમનાં કૃત્યો વિસરી ગયા.
11They forgot his doings, His wondrous works that he had shown them.
12તેઓના પિતૃઓએ મિસર દેશમાં, સોઆનનાં મેદાનમાં; દેવે કરેલા ચમત્કારો જોયા હતાં.
12He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13તેમણે તેઓની સમક્ષ સમુદ્રનાં બે ભાગ કર્યા હતાં, તેઓને તેમાં થઇને સામે પાર મોકલ્યા હતાં. તેઓની બંને બાજુએ પાણી દિવાલની જેમ સ્થિર થઇ ગયું હતું,
13He split the sea, and caused them to pass through; He made the waters stand as a heap.
14વળી તે તેઓને દિવસે મેઘથી અને આખી રાત, અગ્નિનાં પ્રકાશથી દોરતો.
14In the daytime he also led them with a cloud, And all night with a light of fire.
15તેમણે રણમાં ખડકને તોડીને, ઊંડાણમાંથી વહેતું હોય તેમ પુષ્કળ પાણી તેઓને આપ્યું.
15He split rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.
16પછી તેમણે ખડકમાંથી પાણી કાઢયું, અને વહેતી નદીની જેમ પ્રવાહ વહેવડાવ્યો.
16He brought streams also out of the rock, And caused waters to run down like rivers.
17તેમ છતાં તેઓએ દેવ વિરુદ્ધ પાપ કરવાનું ચાલું જ રાખ્યું, અને અરણ્યમાં પરાત્પર દેવ વિરુદ્ધ બંડ કરતાં રહ્યા.
17Yet they still went on to sin against him, To rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18તેઓએ હઠીલાઇ કરીને દેવની કસોટી કરી, દેવ તેઓને આપતાહતા તે કરતાં જુદા જ ખોરાકની માગણી કરી.
18They tempted God in their heart By asking food according to their desire.
19તેઓ દેવની વિરુદ્ધ બોલ્યા અને કહ્યું, “શું રણમાં તે ભોજન મોકલી શકે?
19Yes, they spoke against God. They said, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20તેમણે ખડકને લાકડી મારી ને, પાણીના ઝરણાં વહેવડાવ્યાં તે સાચું છે; શું તે આપણને રોટલી આપી શકે છે? અને તેમનાં લોકોને માંસ આપી શકે?”
20Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, Streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide flesh for his people?"
21તેઓએ જે કહ્યું તે સાંભળ્યા પછી, યહોવા કોપાયમાન થયા, તેઓ ઇસ્રાએલ પર ભારે કોપાયમાન થયા અને યાકૂબ પર બહુ જ ગુસ્સે થયા.
21Therefore Yahweh heard, and was angry. A fire was kindled against Jacob, Anger also went up against Israel,
22કારણ, તેઓએ દેવમાં તેમનો વિશ્વાસ મૂક્યો નહિ, અને તેમના તારણ પર વિશ્વાસ કર્યો નહિ.
22Because they didn't believe in God, And didn't trust in his salvation.
23છતાં તેમણે વાદળાંને આજ્ઞા આપી, અને આકાશનાં દ્વાર ખોલી નાખ્યાં.
23Yet he commanded the skies above, And opened the doors of heaven.
24તેઓના ખોરાક માટે માન્નાની વૃષ્ટિ કરી; અને તેમણે સ્વર્ગમાંથી ભોજન આપ્યું.
24He rained down manna on them to eat, And gave them food from the sky.
25તેઓએ દેવદૂતોનો ખોરાક ખાધો! અને તેઓ તૃપ્ત થયા ત્યાં સુધી યહોવાએ ભોજન આપ્યું.
25Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full.
26દેવે તેમનાં મહાન સાર્મથ્યથી દક્ષિણ અને પૂર્વનો પવન ફૂંકાવ્યો.
26He caused the east wind to blow in the sky. By his power he guided the south wind.
27તેમણે ધૂળની જેમ માંસ અને સમુદ્રની રેતીની જેમ પક્ષીઓ તેમનાં પર વરસાવ્યાઁ.
27He rained also flesh on them as the dust; Winged birds as the sand of the seas.
28તેમણે તેઓની છાવણી મધ્યે અને તેઓનાં તંબુઓની ચોપાસ પક્ષીઓ પાડ્યાં.
28He let them fall in the midst of their camp, Around their habitations.
29લોકો ધરાઇ રહ્યાં ત્યાં સુધી ખાધું, યહોવાએ તેઓને, માગણી પ્રમાણે આપ્યું.
29So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire.
30પણ તેઓ તેમની ભૂખનું નિયંત્રણ કરી શક્યાં નહિ, અને માંસ હજી પણ તેમના મોંઢાં માઁ હતું.
30They didn't turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,
31પછી તેમની સામે યહોવાનો કોપ પ્રગટયો, અને તેમણે ઇસ્રાએલમાં જેઓ સૌથી વધુ શકિતશાળી હતા તેમને મારી નાખ્યાં, તેમણે શ્રેષ્ઠ યુવાનોને મારી નાખ્યાં.
31When the anger of God went up against them, Killed some of the fattest of them, And struck down the young men of Israel.
32આમ છતાં લોકો પાપ કરતાં રહ્યાં, અને તેમના ચમત્કારો પર ભરોસો કર્યો નહિ.
32For all this they still sinned, And didn't believe in his wondrous works.
33દેવે તેઓના વ્યર્થ જીવનનો અંત આપત્તિઓ સાથે કર્યો.
33Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, And their years in terror.
34જ્યારે જ્યારે તેમણે તેમાંના કેટલાંકને મારી નાખ્યા, ત્યારે બીજાઓ તેમના તરફ વળ્યા, અને તેમની મદદ માંગી.
34When he killed them, then they inquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly.
35ત્યારે તેઓએ યાદ કર્યુ કે, દેવ તેઓના ખડક છે, અને પરાત્પર દેવ તેઓના તારક છે.
35They remembered that God was their rock, The Most High God their redeemer.
36પરંતુ તેઓએ પોતાના મુખે તેની પ્રસંશા કરી, અને પોતાની જીભે તેની સમક્ષ જૂઠું બોલ્યા.
36But they flattered him with their mouth, And lied to him with their tongue.
37તેઓનાં હૃદય યહોવા પ્રત્યે વિશ્વાસુ નહોતા; તેઓ કરારને વફાદાર નહોતા.
37For their heart was not right with him, Neither were they faithful in his covenant.
38તેમ છતા તેમણેં દયા દર્શાવી, તેઓનાં પાપોની ક્ષમા આપી, નાશ ન કર્યો; તેમણે ઘણીવાર ક્રોધ સમાવી દીધો; અને પોતાનો પૂરો કોપ પ્રગટ કર્યો નહિ.
38But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn't destroy them. Yes, many times he turned his anger away, And didn't stir up all his wrath.
39યહોવાએ સંભાર્યુ કે તેઓ કેવળ ક્ષુદ્ર છે; અને એક ક્ષણમાં પસાર થતાં વાયુ જેવા છે.
39He remembered that they were but flesh, A wind that passes away, and doesn't come again.
40તેઓએ વષોર્ દરમ્યાન કેટલીવાર રણમાં યહોવા વિરુદ્ધ બંડ કર્યું; અને રાનમાં દુ:ખી તેમને કર્યા.
40How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, And grieved him in the desert!
41વારંવાર તેઓએ દેવની કસોટી કરી અને તેઓએ ઇસ્રાએલના પવિત્ર યહોવાને દુ:ખી કર્યા.
41They turned again and tempted God, And provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42તેઓ દેવનાં મહાન સાર્મથ્યને ભૂલી ગયા, તથા તેમણે શત્રુઓથી તેઓને બચાવ્યાં હતાં, તે ભૂલી ગયાં.
42They didn't remember his hand, Nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;
43યહોવાએ મિસરમાં ચમત્કારિક ચિન્હો અને સોઆનના મેદાનમાં આશ્ચર્યકમોર્ કર્યા હતાં તે પણ ભૂલી ગયા.
43How he set his signs in Egypt, His wonders in the field of Zoan,
44તેણે તેઓની નદીઓને તથા તેઓના વહેળાઓને લોહી વહેતાં બનાવી દીધાં જેથી તેઓ પી ન શકે.
44Turned their rivers into blood, And their streams, so that they could not drink.
45તેમણે મધમાખીઓનું મોટું ઝૂંડ મોકલ્યું, અને જે તેઓને કરડ્યા, અને દેડકાઓએ બધી વસ્તુઓનો નાશ કર્યો.
45He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; And frogs, which destroyed them.
46તેઓની ફસલ તેમણે કાતરાઓને આપી હતી, ને તેઓનો બધો જ પાક તીડો ખાઇ ગયા હતા.
46He gave also their increase to the caterpillar, And their labor to the locust.
47તેમણે તેઓની દ્રાક્ષવાડીઓ, કરાથી તથા હિમથી તેઓના ગુલ્લરઝાડોનો નાશ કર્યો હતો.
47He destroyed their vines with hail, Their sycamore-fig trees with frost.
48તેઓના ઢોરઢાંખર પર આકાશમાંથી મોટાં કરાનો માર પડ્યો, અને ઘેટાનાં ટોળાઁ પર વીજળીઓ પડી.
48He gave over their cattle also to the hail, And their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49દેવે પોતાનો કોપ તેઓ પર પ્રગટ કર્યો, તેમનો રોષ, ગુસ્સો અને તિરસ્કાર; તેઓની વિરુદ્ધ નાશ કરનારા દૂતોની માફક મોકલ્યા.
49He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, Wrath, indignation, and trouble, And a band of angels of evil.
50તેમણે પોતાના કોપ માટે રસ્તો ખૂલ્લો કર્યો; અને મિસરવાસીઓના જીવન બચાવ્યાં નહિ, પણ તેઓને વિપત્તિ તથા માંદગીને સોંપી દીધા.
50He made a path for his anger. He didn't spare their soul from death, But gave their life over to the pestilence,
51પછી તેણે સર્વ પ્રથમ, મિસરમાં સર્વ પ્રથમ જનિતને મારી નાખ્યાઁ; હામના પ્રથમ જનિત નર બાળકોને તંબુઓમાં માર્યા.
51And struck all the firstborn in Egypt, The chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52પરંતુ તે પોતાના લોકોને ઘેટાઁનાં ટોળાઁની જેમ બહાર લાવ્યાં; અને રણમાં થઇને તેઓને સુરક્ષિત ચલાવ્યા.
52But he led forth his own people like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53તેઓને તેમણે એવા સુરક્ષિત ચલાવ્યા કે તેઓ બીધા નહિ, પરંતુ સમુદ્રના પાણી શત્રુઓ પર ફરી વળ્યાં.
53He led them safely, so that they weren't afraid, But the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54તેણે તેઓને તેની પવિત્ર ભૂમિમાં, ડુંગરોવાળા દેશ તરફ જે તેઓએ તેમની શકિતથી લીધો હતો તેમા ચાલતાં કર્યા.
54He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, To this mountain, which his right hand had taken.
55અને તેમણે અન્ય રાષ્ટોને તે જમીનમાંથી આગળ કાઢી મૂક્યા. ઇસ્રાએલનાં પ્રત્યેક કુટુંબસમુહને કાયમ વસવાટ કરવા માટે જમીનનો હિસ્સો આપ્યો.
55He also drove out the nations before them, Allotted them for an inheritance by line, And made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56છતાં ત્યારે પણ, તેઓએ પરાત્પર દેવની કસોટી કરવાનું અને તેમની વિરુદ્ધ બંડ કરવાનું ચાલુ રાખ્યું અને તેમની આજ્ઞાઓનું અનુસરણ કરવાનો ઇન્કાર કર્યો.
56Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, And didn't keep his testimonies;
57તેઓ દેવ પાસેથી દૂર થયા. તેઓ તેમનાં પૂર્વજોની જેમ દેવને અવિનયી થયાં. ફેંકનારતરફ પાછા ફરતાં, વાંકા શસ્રની જેમ તેઓ પૂર્વજોની જેમ દિશા બદલતા હતા.
57But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58તેઓએ ઉચ્ચાસ્થાનો બનાવીને અને જૂઠાં દેવોની મૂર્તિથી દેવને ગુસ્સે કર્યા.
58For they provoked him to anger with their high places, And moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.
59જ્યારે તેઓનાં કૃત્યો દેવે જોયાં દેવનો ક્રોધ પ્રબળ થયો, અને પોતાના લોકોનો ત્યાગ કર્યો.
59When God heard this, he was angry, And greatly abhorred Israel;
60પછી માણસો મધ્યે તે નિવાસ કરતા; એ શીલોહના મંડપનો તેમણે ત્યાગ કર્યો.
60So that he forsook the tent of Shiloh, The tent which he placed among men;
61દેવે બીજા લોકોને પોતાના લોકોને પકડવાં દીધા. દુશ્મનોએ દેવનું “ગૌરવ રત્ન” લઇ લીધું.
61And delivered his strength into captivity, His glory into the adversary's hand.
62તેમણે પોતાના લોકોનો સંહાર થવા દીધો, કારણકે, તેમનો ક્રોધ અતિ વધારે હતો.
62He also gave his people over to the sword, And was angry with his inheritance.
63તેઓના યુવાનો અગ્નિથી નાશ પામ્યાં; અને તેઓની કન્યાઓ તેઓનાં લગ્નગીતો ગવાય તે પહેલાં જ મૃત્યુ પામી.
63Fire devoured their young men; Their virgins had no wedding song.
64યાજકોનો વધ થયો અને તેઓની વિધવાઓ તેઓ માટે રૂદન કરે તે પહેલાં તેઓ પણ મૃત્યુ પામી.
64Their priests fell by the sword, And their widows couldn't weep.
65ત્યારે ઊંઘમાંથી કોઇ જાગે, તેમ, તથા દ્રાક્ષારસમાંથી શૂરવીર પુરૂષને શૂરાતન આવે તેમ યહોવા ઊઠયા.
65Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, Like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine.
66તે તેમના શત્રુઓ તરફ ઢળ્યા, તેમણે તેઓને પાછા વાળ્યા અને તેઓને કાયમ માટે હિણપદ કર્યા.
66He struck his adversaries backward. He put them to a perpetual reproach.
67દેવે યૂસફના પરિવારનો અસ્વીકાર કર્યો, અને એફાઇમના પરિવારનો પણ સ્વીકાર કર્યો નહિ.
67Moreover he rejected the tent of Joseph, And didn't choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68પણ યહૂદા કુળને તથા જેના ઉપર તે પ્રેમ કરતા હતા તે સિયોન પર્વતને તેમણે પસંદ કર્યા.
68But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which he loved.
69ત્યાં તેમણે પર્વત જેવું ઉન્નત અને સદા માટે સ્થાપન કરેલી પૃથ્વી જેવું અચળ પોતાનું પવિત્રસ્થાન બાંધ્યું.
69He built his sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which he has established forever.
70તેમણે ઘેટાંની સંભાળ રાખનાર દાઉદને પોતાના સેવક તરીકે પસંદ કર્યોે.
70He also chose David his servant, And took him from the sheepfolds;
71જ્યાં એ ઘેટા ચારતો હતો ત્યાંથી દેવ તેને લઇ આવ્યા અને પોતાના લોકો, યાકૂબનાં સંતાન અને ઇસ્રાએલનાં લોકોના પાલક તરીકે અને દેવની સંપત્તિના પાલક તરીકે નિયુકત કર્યો.
71From following the ewes that have their young, He brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob, his people, And Israel, his inheritance.
72દાઉદે તેમને શુદ્ધ હૃદયથી અને કૌશલ્ય સભર શાણપણથી દોર્યા.
72So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
