1ફરીથી ઈસ્રાએલીઓએ યહોવાની દૃષ્ટિએ પાપ ગણાય એવું આચરણ કર્યુ એથી યહોવાએ પલિસ્તીઓને ઈસ્રાએલ ઉપર વિજય અપાવ્યો. ચાલીસ વર્ષ સુધી ઈસ્રાએલીઓ પલિસ્તીઓને તાબે રહ્યાં.
1The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh; and Yahweh delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
2તે સમયમાં સોરાહમાં દાન કુળસમૂહનો માંનોઆહ નામનો માંણસ હતો, એની પત્ની વાંઝણી હતી.
2There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and didn't bear.
3યહોવાના દૂતે તેને દર્શન આપીને કહ્યું, “તું લાંબા સમયથી નિઃસંતાન અને વાંઝણી છે, પણ હવે તું ગર્ભવતી થશે અને તને પુત્ર જન્મશે!
3The angel of Yahweh appeared to the woman, and said to her, See now, you are barren, and don't bear; but you shall conceive, and bear a son.
4હવે હું તને કહું તે પ્રમાંણે તું કરજે, દ્રાક્ષારસ કે કોઈ પણ કેફી પીણું પીશ નહિ, અને કોઈપણ અશુદ્ધ ખોરાક ખાઈશ નહિ.
4Now therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don't eat any unclean thing:
5કારણ કે હવે તું ગર્ભવતી થશે અને એક પુત્રને જન્મ આપશે માંટે તેના વાળ કદી કપાવીશ નહિ, તે એક નાઝીરીથશે. તે પલિસ્તીઓના હાથમાંથી ઈસ્રાએલીઓને મુક્ત કરશે.”
5for, behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb: and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
6પછી એ સ્ત્રીએ જઈને પોતાના પતિને આ વાત કરી, “દેવનો માંણસ માંરી પાસે આવ્યો હતો. એનો દેખાવ દેવના દૂત જેવો ખૂબ જ તેજસ્વી દેખાતો હતો. તે કયાંથી આવ્યો તે મેં એને પૂછયું નહોતું, તેમ તેણે મને પોતાનું નામ પણ કહ્યું નહોતું.
6Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome; and I didn't ask him whence he was, neither did he tell me his name:
7પણ તેણે મને આમ કહ્યું, “તું સગર્ભા થશે અને તને પુત્ર અવતરશે. હવેથી તું દ્રાક્ષારસ કે કોઈ પણ કેફી પીણું પીશે નહિ તેમજ અશુદ્ધ ખોરાક ખાઈશ નહિ, કારણકે તે પુત્ર દેવને અર્પણ થશે અને નાઝીરી થશે અને તેના જન્મથી મૃત્યુ સુધી તે દેવની સેવામાં હશે.”
7but he said to me, Behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.
8પછી માંનોઆહે યહોવાને પ્રાર્થના કરી, “કૃપા કરી તમે જે દેવના માંણસને મોકલ્યો હતો તેને પાછો મોકલો, જેથી તે અમને કહે કે પુત્ર જન્મ ધારણ કરવાનો છે, તેનું અમાંરે શું કરવું?” તે માંટે વધારે સૂચનો આપો.”
8Then Manoah entreated Yahweh, and said, Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you did send come again to us, and teach us what we shall do to the child who shall be born.
9દેવે માંનોઆહની પ્રાર્થના સાંભળી અને તેની પત્ની ખેતરમાં બેઠી હતી ત્યાં દેવના દૂતે તેને ફરી એકવાર દર્શન આપ્યાં. તેનો ધણી તેની પાસે નહોતો.
9God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah, her husband, wasn't with her.
10આથી તે બાઈએ તરત જ દોડતા દોડતા જઈને પોતાના પતિને કહ્યું, “જુઓ, જે માંણસ પેલે દિવસે માંરી પાસે આવ્યો હતો એ જ માંણસ ફરીથી અહી આવ્યો છે!”
10The woman made haste, and ran, and told her husband, and said to him, Behold, the man has appeared to me, who came to me the other day.
11માંનોઆહ ઊઠયો અને તેની પત્ની સાથે ઝડપથી પાછો આવ્યો. તેણે પેલા માંણસને પૂછયું, “તે દિવસે માંરી પત્ની સાથે વાત કરી હતી તે માંણસ તમે જ છો?” દેવદૂતે જવાબ આપ્યો, ‘હા, હું તે જ છું.”
11Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, Are you the man who spoke to the woman? He said, I am.
12એટલે માંનોઆહે કહ્યું, “તમાંરા વચનો સાચા પડ્યા પછી અને બાળકના જન્મ પછી અમાંરે તેનો ઉછેર કેવી રીતે કરવો? અમાંરે તેની સાથે કેવી રીતે વર્તવું? એણે શું કરવું? કૃપાકરી આ બધુ અમને કહો.”
12Manoah said, Now let your words happen: what shall be the ordering of the child, and how shall we do to him?
13યહોવાના દૂતે કહ્યું, “તારી પત્નીને મેં જે સૂચનાઓ આપેલી છે તે કાળજીપૂર્વક તારે પાળવાની છે,
13The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, Of all that I said to the woman let her beware.
14તેણે દ્રાક્ષામાંથી બનાવેલી કોઈ પણ ચીજ ખાવી નહિ, તેણે દ્રાક્ષારસ કે કોઈ પણ કેફી પીણાં પીવા નહિ, તેમજ અશુદ્ધ ખોરાક ખાવો નહિ; તેણે બધું મેં આપેલા હુકમ પ્રમાંણે કરવું.
14She may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; all that I commanded her let her observe.
15માંનોઆહે યહોવાના દૂતને કહ્યું, “અમે તમાંરા માંટે લવારું રાંધીએ ત્યાં સુધી કૃપા કરીને તમે અહી રહો.”
15Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, I pray you, let us detain you, that we may make ready a kid for you.
16યહોવાના દૂતે કહ્યું, “હું રોકાઈશ, તોયે તમાંરું ભોજન લઈશ નહિ, પણ જો તમાંરે દહનાર્પણ આપવું જ હોય તો યહોવાને આપો.” છતાં માંનોઆહને ખબર ન પડી કે આ યહોવાનો દૂત છે.
16The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, Though you detain me, I won't eat of your bread; and if you will make ready a burnt offering, you must offer it to Yahweh. For Manoah didn't know that he was the angel of Yahweh.
17આથી તેણે યહોવાના દેવદૂતને પૂછયું, “તમાંરું નામ જો અમને જાણવા મળે કે તમે જે કહ્યું છે તે સાચું છે તો અમે તમને સન્માંન આપી શકીએ.”
17Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, What is your name, that when your words happen, we may honor you?
18યહોવાના દેવદૂતે તેને કહ્યું, “માંરું નામ જાણીને તમને શું મળશે? તમે તે સમજી શકશો નહિ.”
18The angel of Yahweh said to him, Why do you ask after my name, seeing it is wonderful?
19પછી માંનોઆહે એક બકરીનું બચ્ચું ખાદ્યાર્પણ સાથે લઈને યહોવાને એક પથ્થર ઉપર અર્પણ કર્યુ, જે વિસ્મયકારક ચીજો કરે છે અને માંનોઆહ અને તેની પત્ની તે જોતાં હતાં.
19So Manoah took the kid with the meal-offering, and offered it on the rock to Yahweh: and the angel did wondrously, and Manoah and his wife looked on.
20યજ્ઞનો ભડકો આકાશ તરફ ઊંચે ચડ્યો ત્યારે એ જવાળાઓમાં દેવનો દેવદૂત માંનોઆહ અને તેની પત્નીના દેખતાં એ જવાળાઓમાં આકાશમાં ઊચે ગયો.આ જોયા પછી બંને જણાએ તેઓના મુખ નીચે જમીન તરફ રાખ્યા.
20For it happened, when the flame went up toward the sky from off the altar, that the angel of Yahweh ascended in the flame of the altar: and Manoah and his wife looked on; and they fell on their faces to the ground.
21ત્યારબાદ માંનોઆહ કે તેની પત્નીએ યહોવાના દેવદૂતને ફરી જોયો નહિ. પછી માંનોઆહને ખાત્રી થઈ કે એ માંણસ યહોવાનો દેવદૂત હતો.
21But the angel of Yahweh did no more appear to Manoah or to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of Yahweh.
22માંનોઆહે પોતાની પત્નીને મોટે સાદે કહ્યું, “હવે આપણું મૃત્યુ નિશ્ચિત છે. કારણ કે આપણે દેવનાં દર્શન કર્યા છે.”
22Manoah said to his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.
23પણ તેની પત્નીએ કહ્યું, “જો યહોવાએ આપણને માંરી નાખવા હોત તો તેણે આપણે અર્પણ કરેલા અર્પણ સ્વીકાર્યા ના હોત, તેણે આપણને આ બધુ બતાવ્યું ના હોત, તેમણે આ ચમત્કાર કર્યો ન હોત.”
23But his wife said to him, If Yahweh were pleased to kill us, he wouldn't have received a burnt offering and a meal-offering at our hand, neither would he have shown us all these things, nor would at this time have told such things as these.
24પછી તે સ્ત્રીએ એક પુત્રને જન્મ આપ્યો અને તેનું નામ સામસૂન રાખ્યું. બાળક મોટો થયો અને તેને યહોવાના આશીર્વાદ પ્રાપ્ત થયા.
24The woman bore a son, and named him Samson: and the child grew, and Yahweh blessed him.
25જ્યારે તે માંહનેહ દાનના શહેરમાં હતો તે દરમ્યાન યહોવાનો આત્માં તેની ઉપર પ્રેરણા કરવા લાગ્યો. તે શહેર સોરાહ અને એશ્તાઓલ, જે દાનની છાવણીમાં આવેલા છે, તેની વચ્ચે આવેલું છે.
25The Spirit of Yahweh began to move him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
