1વળી અલીહૂએ અનુસંધાનમાં કહ્યું;
1Moreover Elihu answered,
2“અયૂબ, તું દેવને પૂછ, ‘જો કોઇ દેવને પ્રસન્ન કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરે તો તેને શું ફાયદો થાય? જો મે પાપ ન કર્યા હોત તો મને વધારે ફાયદો થાત?’
2"Do you think this to be your right, Or do you say, 'My righteousness is more than God's,'
3તું એમ માને છે કે, આમ કહેવું તે યોગ્ય છે? તું કહે છે; ‘દેવ કરતા હું વધારે સાચો સત્ય છું?”
3That you ask, 'What advantage will it be to you? What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?'
4હું તને તથા તારા બધા મિત્રોને એક સાથે જવાબ આપીશ.
4I will answer you, And your companions with you.
5ઊંચે આકાશમાં જો! જો વાદળાં તારા કરતાં કેટલાં ઊંચા છે!
5Look to the heavens, and see. See the skies, which are higher than you.
6અયૂબ, જો તમે પાપ કરો, તો તેમાં દેવને કોઇ રીતે હાનિ થવાની નથી. જો તમારી પાસે ખૂબ પાપ ભર્યા હોય તો તેમાં દેવનું કાંઇ નુકસાન નથી.
6If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?
7અને અયૂબ, જો તું સારો હોય તો તે કોઇ રીતે દેવને સહાયરૂપ નથી. તારી પાસેથી દેવને કાંઇ મળવાનું નથી.
7If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand?
8અયૂબ, તુ જે કાંઇ સારું કે ખરાબ કાર્ય કરે છે તે તારી જેમ ફકત બીજાઓને અસર થાય છે. તેઓ દેવને મદદ કે હાનિ કરતા નથી.
8Your wickedness may hurt a man as you are; And your righteousness may profit a son of man.
9જો દુષ્ટ લોકોને હાનિ થાય તો તેઓ મદદ માટે પોકાર કરશે. તેઓ શકિતશાળી લોકો પાસે જાય છે અને મદદ માંગે છે.
9"By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out; They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.
10પરંતુ તે દુષ્ટ લોકો, તેઓને મદદ કરવાનું દેવને કહેતા નથી. તેઓ કહેશે નહિ મારા સર્જનહાર દેવ ક્યાં છે? દેવ જેઓ ઉત્સાહ ભંગ છે, તેઓને મદદ કરે છે. તો તે ક્યાં છે?
10But none says, 'Where is God my Maker, Who gives songs in the night,
11જે દેવે આપણને પશુઓ અને પંખીઓ કરતાં વધારે સમજુ બનાવ્યા છે તો તે ક્યાં છે!
11Who teaches us more than the animals of the earth, And makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?'
12તેઓ બૂમો પાડે છે, પણ કોઇ એમને સાંભળતું નથી, કારણકે એમનામાં અનિષ્ટનું અભિમાન હોય છે.
12There they cry, but none gives answer, Because of the pride of evil men.
13એ સાચું છે, દેવ તેઓની નિરર્થક માંગણીઓ પર ધ્યાન આપશે નહિ. સર્વસમર્થ દેવ તેઓ તરફ જરા પણ ધ્યાન આપશે નહિ.
13Surely God will not hear an empty cry, Neither will the Almighty regard it.
14તેથી અયૂબ, તું કહે છે કે, તું તેને જોતો નથી, ત્યારે દેવ તેને સાંભળશે નહિ. તુું કહે છે કે તું દેવને મળવાની તકની રાહ જુએ છે અને તારી નિદોર્ષતા સાબિત કરે છે.
14How much less when you say you don't see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him!
15અયૂબ, વિચારે છે કે દેવ દુષ્ટ લોકોને સજા કરતા નથી. તે વિચારે છે કે દેવ પાપ જોતા નથી.
15But now, because he has not visited in his anger, Neither does he greatly regard arrogance.
16તેથી અયૂબ, તેની અર્થ વગરની વાતો કરે છે. અયૂબ જાણે તે મહત્વશીલ હોય તેમ વતેર્ છે. એ સહેલાઇથી જાણી જવાય છે કે અયૂબને તે શેના વિશે બોલે છે તેની તેને ખબર નથી.”
16Therefore Job opens his mouth with empty talk, And he multiplies words without knowledge."
