1યહૂદિયાના રાજા યોશિયાના પુત્ર યહોયાકીમના ચોથા વર્ષમાં યહોવાનું આ વચન યમિર્યાની પાસે આવ્યું.
1It happened in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,
2“યોશિયાના શાસનમાં જ્યારે હું તારી સાથે પહેલી વાર બોલ્યો હતો ત્યારથી માંડીને આજસુધી મેં તને ઇસ્રાએલ અને યહૂદિયા તેમજ બીજી પ્રજાઓ વિષે જે જે કઇં કહ્યું હતું તે બધું એક ઓળિયું લઇને તેના પર લખી નાંખ.
2Take a scroll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.
3કદાચ હું યહૂદિયાના લોકો પર જે આફતો ઉતારવાનું વિચારું છું તે તેઓ જાણવા પામે અને ખોટે રસ્તે જવાનું છોડી દે, તો હું તેમનાં દુષ્કૃત્યો અને પાપ માફ કરું.”
3It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do to them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
4તેથી યમિર્યાએ નેરિયાના પુત્ર બારૂખને બોલાવ્યો અને યમિર્યાએ લખાવ્યું તે પ્રમાણે બારૂખે બધા ભવિષ્યવચનો લખ્યાં.
4Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Yahweh, which he had spoken to him, on a scroll of a book.
5ત્યારબાદ યમિર્યાએ બારૂખને આ પ્રમાણે કહ્યું, “મને યહોવાના મંદિરમાં જવાનો નિષેધ છે.
5Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I can't go into the house of Yahweh:
6માટે, તું ચોક્કસ જા અને મે તને જે યહોવાના વચનો લખાવ્યા છે તેને તું, એ બધા લોકોની સામે જે ઉપવાસના દિવસે મંદિરમાં આવ્યાં છે. તેની સામે વાંચ, ઉપરાંત તારે યહૂદિયાના સર્વ લોકો જેઓ પોતાના ગામમાંથી આવ્યા છે તેમની સામે પણ જરૂર વાંચવું.
6therefore go you, and read in the scroll, which you have written from my mouth, the words of Yahweh in the ears of the people in Yahweh's house on the fast-day; and also you shall read them in the ears of all Judah who come out of their cities.
7કદાચ તે લોકો યહોવાને આજીજી કરે અને ખોટે માગેર્થી પાછા વળે; કારણ, યહોવાએ એ લોકોને ભારે રોષ ને ક્રોધપૂર્વક ધમકી આપેલી છે.”
7It may be they will present their supplication before Yahweh, and will return everyone from his evil way; for great is the anger and the wrath that Yahweh has pronounced against this people.
8યમિર્યાએ કહ્યું હતું તે મુજબ નેરિયાના પુત્ર બારૂખે કર્યું અને મંદિરમાં લોકોની આગળ સર્વ સંદેશાઓ વાંચી સંભળાવ્યાં.
8Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of Yahweh in Yahweh's house.
9Now it happened in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh.
10શાફાન ચિટનીસના પુત્ર ગમાર્યાના ઓરડામાંથી તેણે આ વચનો વાંચી સંભળાવ્યાં, એ ઓરડો મંદિરના નવા દરવાજાના ઓટલા આગળ ઉપલા ચોકમાં આવેલો હતો.
10Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Yahweh, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan, the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of Yahweh's house, in the ears of all the people.
11શાફાનના પુત્ર ગમાર્યાના પુત્ર મીખાયાએ યહોવા તરફથી આવેલા આ સંદેશાઓ સાંભળ્યાં.
11When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of Yahweh,
12he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber: and, behold, all the princes were sitting there, to wit, Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
13બારૂખ લોકોની સમક્ષ વાંચતો હતો તે સંદેશાઓ વિષે મીખાયાએ તેઓને કહી સંભળાવ્યું.
13Then Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
14પછી અમલદારોએ કૂશીના પુત્ર, શેલેમ્યાના પુત્ર, નથાન્યાના પુત્ર યેહૂદીને મોકલી બારૂખને કહેવડાવ્યું કે, “જે ઓળિયામાંથી તે લોકોને વાંચી સંભળાવ્યું છે, તે ઓળિયું લઇને અહીં આવ.”
14Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them.
15તેથી બારૂખ ઓળિયું લઇને તેમની પાસે આવ્યો. તેમણે કહ્યું, “મહેરબાની કરીને બેસ અને એ ઓળિયું અમને વાંચી સંભળાવ.”આથી બારૂખે તેમને તે વાંચી સંભળાવ્યું.
15They said to him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.
16બારૂખે તેમની સામે જે વાંચન કર્યુ, તે જેવું તેઓએ સાંભળ્યું કે, તેઓ એકબીજાની સામે ભયથી જોવા લાગ્યા અને બારૂખને કહ્યું, “તેં જે બધું વાંચ્યું છે તેના વિષે આપણે જરૂર રાજાને જણાવવું જોઇએ.”
16Now it happened, when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.
17પરંતુ પહેલા તું અમને જણાવ કે, આ સંદેશાઓ તારી પાસે કેવી રીતે આવ્યા: “શું યમિર્યાએ પોતે આ સંદેશાઓ તને લખાવ્યા હતા?”
17They asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How did you write all these words at his mouth?
18તેથી બારૂખે ખુલાસો કર્યો, “યમિર્યાએ મને શબ્દે શબ્દ લખાવ્યો અને મેં તે ઓળિયામાં શાહીથી લખી લીધો.”
18Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.
19પછી અધિકારીઓએ બારૂખને કહ્યું, “તું અને યમિર્યા ક્યાંક છુપાઇ જાઓ. તમે ક્યાં છો તે વિષે કોઇને પણ જાણ કરશો નહિ!”
19Then said the princes to Baruch, Go, hide you, you and Jeremiah; and let no man know where you are.
20ત્યારબાદ અધિકારીઓએ મંત્રી અલીશામાની ઓરડીમાં તે ઓળિયાને સંતાડી દીધું અને તેઓ રાજાને તેની વાત કરવા ગયા.
20They went in to the king into the court; but they had laid up the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe; and they told all the words in the ears of the king.
21રાજાએ યેહૂદીને ઓળિયું લઇ આવવા મોકલ્યો, યેહૂદી તે ઓળિયું મંત્રી અલીશામાની ઓરડીમાંથી લઇ આવ્યો અને રાજાને તે વાંચીને સંભળાવ્યું. તે વખતે બધા અમલદારો રાજાની આજુબાજુ ઊભેલા હતા.
21So the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll; and he took it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe. Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes who stood beside the king.
22તે સમયે રાજા તેના મહેલના શિયાળું ખંડમાં બેઠા હતા. નવમો મહિનો ચાલતો હતો. તેની આગળ સગડીમાં લાકડા બળતાં હતાં.
22Now the king was sitting in the winter-house in the ninth month: and there was a fire in the brazier burning before him.
23યેહૂદી ત્રણચાર ફકરા વાંચી રહે એટલે રાજા લહિયાની છરીથી તેટલો ભાગ કાપી લઇ બળતા લાકડામાં નાખી દેતો. આમને આમ આખું ઓળિયું સગડીમાં હોમાઇ ગયું.
23It happened, when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, that the king cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
24આ બધું જ સાંભળ્યા પછી પણ રાજાએ કે તેના અમલદારોએ ન તો ગભરાટ વ્યકત કર્યો કે ન તો પશ્ચાતાપમાં કપડાં ફાડ્યાં;
24They were not afraid, nor tore their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants who heard all these words.
25જો કે એલ્નાથાન, દલાયા અને ગમાર્યાએ રાજાને ટઓળિયું ન બાળવા કહ્યું હતું, પણ તેના પર ધ્યાન આપ્યું નહોતું.
25Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not hear them.
26પછી રાજાએ બારૂખ તથા યમિર્યાને પકડવા માટે યરાહમએલને, આઝીએલના પુત્ર સરાયાને તથા આબ્દએલના પુત્ર શેલેમ્યાને મોકલ્યા. પરંતુ યહોવાએ તેઓને સંતાડી રાખ્યા હતા.
26The king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but Yahweh hid them.
27રાજાએ ઓળિયાને બાળી નાખ્યું, પછી યહોવાએ યમિર્યાને કહ્યું:
27Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
28“બીજું ઓળિયું લઇને તેના પર યહૂદિયાના રાજા યહોયાકીમે બાળી મૂકેલા પહેલાના ઓળિયામાં જે લખ્યું હતું તે બધું લખી કાઢ.
28Take again another scroll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.
29અને યહૂદિયાના રાજા યહોયાકીમને કહે કે, ‘આ યહોવાના વચન છે: “તે પોતે આ ઓળિયું બાળીને યમિર્યાને એમ કહીને ઠપકો આપ્યો છે કે, તું આવું તો કેવી રીતે કહી શકે કે, બાબિલનો રાજા આ દેશમાં ચોક્કસપણે આવી જે અહીંના માણસોનો અને પશુઓનો સંહાર કરી નાખશે?”
29Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, Thus says Yahweh: You have burned this scroll, saying, Why have you written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from there man and animal?
30આથી હું યહોવા તને કહું છું કે તારા પછી દાઉદની ગાદીએ બેસનાર કોઇ વંશજ તારો રહેશે નહિ, અને તારું શબ દિવસના બળબળતા તાપમાં અને રાત્રીની કડકડતી ઠંડીમાં બહાર ફેકી દેવામા આવશે.
30Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He shall have none to sit on the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
31I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they didn't listen.
32ત્યારબાદ યમિર્યાએ બીજું ઓળિયું લીધું અને નેરિયાના પુત્ર બારૂખ લહિયાને લખવા આપ્યું. પછી પહેલાં લખાયું હતું તે સર્વ તેણે બારૂખને ફરીથી લખાવ્યું, પરંતુ આ વખતે યહોવાએ તેમાં ઘણાં વચનો ઉમેર્યા.
32Then took Jeremiah another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and there were added besides to them many like words.
