1યહોવા કહે છે, “હું જ્યારે ઇસ્રાએલનાં ઘા ને મટાડવા ઇચ્છતો હતો, ત્યારે સમરૂનનાં દુષ્ટ કૃત્યો પ્રગટ થયા અને એફ્રાઇમના પાપો ખુલ્લા થયા, કારણકે તેઓ દગો કરે છે, ઘરોમાં ઘૂસી જાય છે અને શેરીઓમાં લૂટ ચલાવે છે.
1When I would heal Israel, Then the iniquity of Ephraim is uncovered, Also the wickedness of Samaria; For they commit falsehood, And the thief enters in, And the gang of robbers ravages outside.
2લોકો કદી એવો વિચાર કરતા જ નથી કે, હું તેઓનું નિરીક્ષણ કરું છું. તેઓના પાપમય કાર્યોએ તેઓને ચારે તરફથી ઘેરી લીધા છે અને હું તે સર્વ નિહાળું છું.
2They don't consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own deeds have engulfed them. They are before my face.
3તેઓની દુષ્ટતામાં રાજા આનંદ અનુભવે છે અને તેઓના જૂઠાણામાં સરદારો રીઝે છે.
3They make the king glad with their wickedness, And the princes with their lies.
4તેઓ બધા જ વ્યભિચારીઓ છે; તેઓ સળગતી ભઠ્ઠી જેવા છે અથવા એ ભઠિયારા જેવા છે, જે લોટને મસળે ત્યારથી તેને ખમીર ચઢે ત્યાં સુધી આગને સંકોરતા નથી.
4They are all adulterers. They are burning like an oven that the baker stops stirring, From the kneading of the dough, until it is leavened.
5આપણા રાજાના ઉત્સવનાં દિવસે રાજકુમારો મદિરાપાનથી ચકચૂર થઇ જાય છે. પછી હાંસી ઉડાવનારાઓ સાથે રાજા મદ્યપાન કરે છે.
5On the day of our king, the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine. He joined his hand with mockers.
6કારણ ગુપ્ત યોજનાઓ બનાવતા તેમના હૃદય ભઠ્ઠીની જેમ ઉત્તેજનાથી તપતા હોય છે. આખી રાત તેમનો આવેશ બળતો રહે છે અને સવારના તે આગનાં ભડકાઓમાં બદલાઇ જાય છે.
6For they have made ready their heart like an oven, While they lie in wait. Their baker sleeps all the night. In the morning it burns as a flaming fire.
7તેઓ બધા ભઠ્ઠીની જેમ ગરમ છે, ને પોતાના ન્યાયાધીશોને સ્વાહા કરી જાય છે, તેઓના બધા રાજાઓ માર્યા ગયા છે; અને છતાં કોઇ મદદ માટે મારી પ્રાર્થના કરતું નથી.
7They are all hot as an oven, And devour their judges. All their kings have fallen. There is no one among them who calls to me.
8ઇસ્રાએલના લોકો વિધમીર્ પ્રજાઓ સાથે ભળે છે; એ તો ફેરવ્યા વગરની અધકચરી શેકાયેલી ભાખરી જેવા છે.
8Ephraim, he mixes himself among the nations. Ephraim is a pancake not turned over.
9વિદેશીઓના દેવોની સેવા કરવાથી તેઓનું સાર્મથ્ય હણાઇ જાય છે. છતાં તેની ખબર એમને પડતી નથી. તેમના માથાના વાળ સફેદ થયા છે, પણ તે જાણતો નથી કે, તેઓ કેટલા નબળા અને ઘરડા થઇ ગયા છે.
9Strangers have devoured his strength, And he doesn't realize it. Indeed, gray hairs are here and there on him, And he doesn't realize it.
10ઇસ્રાએલનું ગર્વ તેની વિરૂદ્ધ સાક્ષી પૂરે છે, તેમ છતાં એ લોકો પોતાના દેવ યહોવાને શરણે આવતા નથી કે, નથી તેમને શોધવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરતા.
10The pride of Israel testifies to his face; Yet they haven't returned to Yahweh their God, Nor sought him, for all this.
11ઇસ્રાએલ મૂર્ખ કબૂતર જેવું બની ગયું, નિદોર્ષ અને બુદ્ધિહીન, કોઇવાર તે મિસરની મદદ માગે છે, કોઇવાર તે અશ્શૂર તરફ મદદ માટે ફરે છે.
11"Ephraim is like an easily deceived dove, without understanding. They call to Egypt. They go to Assyria.
12એ લોકો જ્યાં જશે હું તેમના પર મારી જાળ પાથરીશ અને પકડાયેલા પંખીઓની જેમ તેમને નીચે જમીન પર ખેચી લાવીશ. હું તેમને પ્રબોધકોએ જે શબ્દો કહ્યાં હતા તે પ્રમાણે સજા કરીશ.
12When they go, I will spread my net on them. I will bring them down like the birds of the sky. I will chastise them, as their congregation has heard.
13વિપત્તિ તેઓને! કારણકે તેઓએ મને છોડી દીધો છે. તેઓનો નાશ થશે! કેમકે તેઓએ મારી વિરૂદ્ધ બંડ પોકાર્યુ છે. હું તેઓને બચાવી લેવા ઇચ્છતો હતો, પણ તેઓ મારા વિષે જૂઠ્ઠુ બોલ્યા છે.
13Woe to them! For they have wandered from me. Destruction to them! For they have trespassed against me. Though I would redeem them, Yet they have spoken lies against me.
14તેઓ સાચા હૃદયથી મને પોકારતા નથી; તેઓ પથારીમાં પડ્યા પડ્યા ખેતીના પાક માટે રોદણાં રડે છે. અને પોતાના શરીર ઉપર પ્રહાર કરે છે, તેમ છતાં તેઓ મારી વિરૂદ્ધ બંડ કરે છે.
14They haven't cried to me with their heart, But they howl on their beds. They assemble themselves for grain and new wine. They turn away from me.
15તેમને સજા કરનાર અને બળવાન બનાવનાર હું છું, પણ તેઓ મને ઇજા કરવા યોજના કરે છે.
15Though I have taught and strengthened their arms, Yet they plot evil against me.
16તેઓ પાછા આવે છે, પણ મહાન દેવ ભણી, સ્વર્ગ ભણી જોવાને બદલે નિર્માલ્ય દેવો ભણી પાછા વળે છે. તેઓ નિશાન ચૂકી જનાર ધનુષ જેવા છે. તેઓના સરદારો પોતાની તોછડી અવિવેકી જીભને કારણે તેઓ શત્રુઓની તરવારનો ભોગ થઇ પડશે અને મિસરના સર્વ લોકો તેઓની હાંસી ઉડાવશે.
16They return, but not to the Most High. They are like a faulty bow. Their princes will fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue. This will be their derision in the land of Egypt.
