1જ્યારે મોર્દખાયે આ બધું જાણ્યું ત્યારે તેણે પોતાનાં વસ્ત્રો ફાડ્યાં, શરીરે રાખ ચોળી ટાટ પહેર્યુ, અને મોટા સાદે રડતો રડતો નગરમાં નીકળી પડ્યો.
1Now when Mordecai knew all that was done, Mordecai tore his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;
2તે છેક મહેલના દરવાજે જઇને બહાર ઊભો રહ્યો, કારણ કે ટાટ પહેરીને અંદર પ્રવેશવાની કોઇનેય પરવાનગી ન હતી.
2and he came even before the king's gate: for none might enter within the king's gate clothed with sackcloth.
3જ્યાં જ્યાં રાજાની આજ્ઞા પહોંચી ગઇ તે બધા પ્રાંતોમાં યહૂદીઓમાં શોક ફેલાઇ ગયો અને લોકો ઉપવાસ કરી રડવા લાગ્યા અને છાતી કૂટવા લાગ્યા. ઘણા તો ટાટ પહેરીને રાખ પાથરીને તેમાં સૂતાં.
3In every province, wherever the king's commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
4જ્યારે એસ્તેરની દાસીઓએ તથા ખોજાઓએ આવીને તેને મોર્દખાય વિષે કહ્યું, ત્યારે તે ખૂબ દુ:ખી થઇ ગઇ. મોર્દખાય ટાટ વસ્રો કાઢી બદલી નાખે તે માટે તેણીએ વસ્ત્રો મોકલી આપ્યાં. પરંતુ મોર્દખાયે તેનો અસ્વીકાર કર્યો.
4Esther's maidens and her chamberlains came and told it her; and the queen was exceedingly grieved: and she sent clothing to clothe Mordecai, and to take his sackcloth from off him; but he didn't receive it.
5પછી એસ્તેરે રાજાએ તેણીની સેવામાં નીમેલા ખોજા હથાખને બોલાવી, તેને મોર્દખાય પાસે જઇ તેને શેની તકલીફ છે અને શાથી, તે પૂછી લાવવાની આજ્ઞા કરી.
5Then called Esther for Hathach, one of the king's chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend on her, and charged him to go to Mordecai, to know what this was, and why it was.
6હથાક મોર્દખાય પાસે મહેલના દરવાજે ગયો.
6So Hathach went forth to Mordecai to the broad place of the city, which was before the king's gate.
7અને તેણે મોર્દખાય પાસેથી તેની સાથે શું બન્યું હતું તે બધી વાત સાંભળી. હામાને યહૂદીઓનો નાશ કરવા માટે રાજ્યની તિજોરીમાં જે નાણાં આપવાનું વચન આપ્યું હતું તેનો ચોક્કસ આંકડો પણ મોર્દખાયે તેને કહ્યો.
7Mordecai told him of all that had happened to him, and the exact sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king's treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.
8વળી તેઓનો નાશ કરવાનો હૂકમ સૂસામાં કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો, તેની નકલ તેણે તેને આપી કે, તે એસ્તેરને તે દેખાડે, અને તેને વિનંતી કરે કે રાજાની હજૂરમાં જઇને તે પોતાના લોકોને માટે કાલાવાલા કરીને તેમને બચાવવા અરજ કરે.
8Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given out in Shushan to destroy them, to show it to Esther, and to declare it to her, and to charge her that she should go in to the king, to make supplication to him, and to make request before him, for her people.
9પછી હથાકે પાછા ફર્યા બાદ મોર્દખાયનું કહેલું બધું એસ્તેરને કહ્યું.
9Hathach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.
10એટલે એસ્તેરે હથાકને કહ્યું કે, જા, અને મોર્દખાયને આ મુજબ કહે,
10Then Esther spoke to Hathach, and gave him a message to Mordecai saying:
11“આ કાનૂન રાજાના બધાંજ આગેવાનો અને પ્રાંતોના બધાં જ લોકો જાણે છે કે, કોઇ પણ સ્ત્રી કે પુરુષ વગર પરવાનગીથી છેક અંદરના સભામંડળમાં જઇ શકતું નથી કારણ કે જે કોઇ બોલાવ્યાં વગર તેમ કરે તો તેને મૃત્યુની સજા કરવામાં આવે છે, સિવાય કે રાજા તે વ્યકિત સામે પોતાનો સોનાનો રાજદંડ ધરે. પણ છેલ્લા એક મહિનાથી રાજાએ મને બોલાવી નથી.”
11All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whoever, whether man or woman, shall come to the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law for him, that he be put to death, except those to whom the king shall hold out the golden scepter, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days.
122એસ્તેરનો સંદેશો તેણે જઇને મોર્દખાયને કહી સંભળાવ્યો.
12They told to Mordecai Esther's words.
13જવાબમાં મોર્દખાયે એસ્તેરને કહેવડાવ્યું, “તું એવું ના વિચારતી કે તું રાજમહેલમાં રહેતી હોવાથી જ્યારે બધાં યહૂદીઓની હત્યા થાય ત્યારે તું બચી જશે?”
13Then Mordecai bade them return answer to Esther, Don't think to yourself that you shall escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.
14“જો તે સમયે તું મૌન રહીશ અને યહૂદીઓને બચાવવા માટે કાઇં નહિ કરે તો બીજી કોઇ રીતે ચોક્કસ યહૂદીઓ માટે મદદ અને રાહત મોકલાશે, પરંતુ તારુ તથા તારાં પિતાના કુટુંબનો નાશ થશે. અને કોને ખબર છે કે તને રાણીપદ કદાચ આવા સમય માટે તો પ્રાપ્ત થયું હશેં?”
14For if you altogether hold your peace at this time, then will relief and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish: and who knows whether you haven't come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
15ત્યારે એસ્તેરે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, તમારે મોર્દખાયને એવો જવાબ આપવો કે,
15Then Esther bade them return answer to Mordecai,
16જા, સૂસામાં જેટલા યહૂદીઓ છે તે સર્વને ભેગા કર. અને તમે સર્વ આજે મારે માટે ઉપવાસ કરો, ત્રણ દિવસ સુધી રાત્રે કે દિવસે તમારે કોઇએ ખાવું-પીવું નહિ; હું અને મારી દાસીઓ પણ એ જ રીતે ઉપવાસ કરીશું. જો કે એ પણ નિયમ વિરૂદ્ધ છે તોપણ હું રાજાની હજૂરમાં જઇશ; જો મારો નાશ થાય, તો ભલે થાય.
16Go, gather together all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast you for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast in like manner; and so will I go in to the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
17ત્યારે મોર્દખાય પોતાને રસ્તે ગયો, અને એસ્તેરે તેને જે આજ્ઞા આપી હતી તે પ્રમાણે તેણે કર્યુ.
17So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.
