1પલિસ્તીઓ ઇસ્રાએલી સામે લડ્યા; જેઓ નાસી ગયા અને ગિલ્બોઆ પર્વત ઉપર માંર્યા ગયા. ઘણા ઇસ્રાએલીઓ ત્યાં મરી ગયા અને તેમાંનાં ઘણાં ભાગી ગયા.
1Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain on Mount Gilboa.
2પલિસ્તીઓએ શાઉલના ત્રણ પુત્રોને માંરી નાખ્યાં યોનાથાનને, અબીનાદાબને અને માંલ્કીશૂઆને તેઓએ એમનો પીછો પકડયો અને માંરી નાખ્યા.
2The Philistines followed hard on Saul and on his sons; and the Philistines killed Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
3અને શાઉલની વિરુદ્ધ ખૂનખાર યુદ્ધ થયું હતું. કેટલાક ધનુર્ધારીઓએ તેની પાસે પહોંચી જઈ તેને સખત ઘાયલ કર્યો.
3The battle went sore against Saul, and the archers overtook him; and he was greatly distressed by reason of the archers.
4ત્યારે તેણે પોતાના બખ્તર ઉપાડનારને કહ્યું, “તારી તરવાર લે અને મને માંરી નાખ, નહિતર આ વિદેશીઓ આવશે અને મને ઇજા કરશે અને માંરી હાંસી ઉડાવશે.”પણ તે બખ્તર ઉપાડનાર ડરતો હતો અને તેને તેણે માંરી નાખવાની ના પાડી આથી શાઉલે પોતાની તરવાર લીધી અને પોતાને પોતાની તરવારથી માંરી નાખ્યો.
4Then said Saul to his armor bearer, Draw your sword, and thrust me through therewith, lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armor bearer would not; for he was sore afraid. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell on it.
5શાઉલને મૃત્યુ પામેલો જોઈને બખ્તરવાહક પણ પોતાની તરવાર ઉપર પડતું મુકી તેની સાથે મોતને ભેટયો.
5When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he likewise fell on his sword, and died with him.
6આમ તે દિવસે શાઉલ, તેના ત્રણ પુત્રો, તેનો બખ્તરવાહક અને તેના માંણસો બધાજ તે જ દિવસે સાથે મૃત્યુ પામ્યા.
6So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armor bearer, and all his men, that same day together.
7ખીણની પેલી પાર રહેતા ઇસ્રાએલીઓએ જોયું કે ઇસ્રાએલી સેના ભાગી ગઇ હતી અને શાઉલ અને તેના ત્રણ પુત્રો મરી ગયા હતા. તેથી તેઓએ તેમના નગરો છોડ્યા અને ભાગી ગયા. ત્યાર બાદ પલિસ્તીઓ આવ્યા અને ત્યાં રહ્યાં.
7When the men of Israel who were on the other side of the valley, and those who were beyond the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and lived in them.
8બીજે દિવસે પલિસ્તીઓ, મૃતદેહો પરથી વસ્રાદિ અલંકારો લૂંટી લેવા આવ્યા, ત્યારે તેમણે શાઉલને અને તેના ત્રણ પુત્રોને ગિલ્બોઆના ડુંગર પર મરેલા પડેલા જોયા.
8It happened on the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.
9તે લોકોએ તેનું માંથું કાપી નાખ્યું અને તેના શસ્ત્રો ઉતારી લીધાં અને દેશભરમાં મંદિરોને અને લોકોને આ શુભ સમાંચાર પહોંચાડવા માંણસો મોકલ્યા.
9They cut off his head, and stripped off his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry the news to the house of their idols, and to the people.
10ત્યાર પછી તે લોકોએ શાઉલનાં બખ્તરને આશ્તારોથના મંદિરમાં મૂકયું. તેઓએ તેના શબને બેથશાનની દિવાલ ઉપર લટકાવી દીધું.
10They put his armor in the house of the Ashtaroth; and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan.
11પલિસ્તીઓએ શાઉલના શરીરને અને બખ્તર ઉપાડનારને શું કર્યું તે યાબેશ ગિલયાદના લોકોએ સાંભળ્યુ.
11When the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead heard concerning him that which the Philistines had done to Saul,
12પછી યાબેશના બધા સૈનિકોએ આખી રાત કૂચ કરી; તેઓએ શાઉલ અને તેના ત્રણે દીકરાઓના શરીર બેથશાનની દિવાલોથી ઉતાર્યા અને યાબેશ ગિલયાદ લઇ ગયા અને અગ્નિમાં બાળી નાખ્યા.
12all the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan; and they came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.
13પછી તેમણે તેમનાં હાડકાંઓ લીધા અને તેમને યાબેશમાં મોટા વૃક્ષ નીચે દાટી દીધા, અને સાત દિવસના ઉપવાસ કર્યા. 
13They took their bones, and buried them under the tamarisk tree in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
