1શાઉલે પોતાન પુત્ર યોનાથાનને અને પોતાના બધા અમલદારોને દાઉદને માંરી નાખવાના પોતાના ઇરાદાની વાત કરી, પરંતુ યોનાથાનને દાઉદ ઉપર ખૂબ મિત્રપ્રેમ હતો.
1Saul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul's son, delighted much in David.
2તેથી તેણે દાઉદને ચેતવ્યો કે, “માંરા પિતા શાઉલ તારો જીવ લેવાની તક શોધે છે, માંટે આવતી કાલે સવારે સાવધાન રહેજે; કોઈ ગુપ્ત જગ્યાએ છુપાઈ રહેજે.
2Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeks to kill you: now therefore, please take care of yourself in the morning, and live in a secret place, and hide yourself:
3પછી હું માંરા પિતાની સાથે તું જે ખેતરમાં છુપાયો હશે ત્યાં આવીશ, અને તેની સાથે તારા વિષે વાત કરીશ, અને મને જે કઈ જાણવા મળશે તે હું તને જણાવીશ.”
3and I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will commune with my father of you; and if I see anything, I will tell you.
4બીજે દિવસે સવારે યોનાથાને શાઉલ આગળ દાઉદની પ્રશંસા કરતાં કહ્યું, “મુરબ્બી, તમાંરે તમાંરા જમાંઈ અને સેવક દાઉદને અન્યાય ન કરવો જોઈએ. તેણે તમાંરું કંઈ બગાડયું નથી, તેણે જે કંઈ કર્યુ છે તેનાથી તો તમને લાભ જ થયો છે.
4Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, Don't let the king sin against his servant, against David; because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been very good toward you:
5તેણે પોતાનો જીવ જોખમમાં મૂકીને પેલા પલિસ્તીને માંર્યો હતો અને યહોવાએ ઇસ્રાએલને મોટો વિજય અપાવ્યો હતો એ જોઈને તમે પણ આનંદ પામ્યા હતા. તો પછી એક નિદોર્ષ માંણસને શા માંટે અન્યાય કરવો અને વગર કારણે શા માંટે દાઉદને માંરી નાખવો?”
5for he put his life in his hand, and struck the Philistine, and Yahweh worked a great victory for all Israel: you saw it, and did rejoice; why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?
6આખરે શાઉલ તેની સાથે સંમત થયો અને યહોવાના નામે પ્રતિજ્ઞા કરી કે, “માંરે દાઉદને માંરી નાખવો નહિ.”
6Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan: and Saul swore, As Yahweh lives, he shall not be put to death.
7યોનાથાને દાઉદને બોલાવીને આ બધી વાત કહી સંભળાવી. પછી તેને શાઉલ પાસે લઈ ગયો. દાઉદ ફરી પહેલાંની માંફક રાજાની સેવા કરવા લાગ્યો.
7Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as before.
8તે પદ્ધી ટૂંક સમયમાં ફરી યદ્ધ ફાટી નીકળ્યું. અને દાઉદે પલિસ્તીઓ ઉપર હુમલો કર્યો; અને તેમને એવા હરાવ્યા કે, તેઓ જીવ લઈને ભાગ્યાં.
8There was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and killed them with a great slaughter; and they fled before him.
9એક દિવસે શાઉલ પોતાના ઘરમાં બેઠો બેઠો દાઉદનું વણાવાદન સાંભળી રહ્યો હતો ત્યારે તેના હાથમાં તેનો ભાલો હતો. અચાનક તેના પર યહોવા તરફથી દુષ્ટ આત્માં આવ્યો; અને શાઉલમાં પ્રવેશ્યો.
9An evil spirit from Yahweh was on Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing with his hand.
10અને શાઉલે દાઉદને પોતાના ભાલા વડે ભીંત સૅંથે જડી દેવાનો પ્રયત્ન કર્યો; પણ દાઉદે ઘા ચુકાવ્યો અને શાઉલનો ભાલો ભીંતમાં પેસી ગયો; એ રાત્રે દાઉદ ત્યાંથી ભાગી ગયો.
10Saul sought to strike David even to the wall with the spear; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he struck the spear into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.
11દાઉદના ઘર પર નજર રાખવા સારુ શાઉલે સૈનિકો મોકલ્યા અને તેઓને જણાવ્યું કે સવારે દાઉદ ઘરની બહાર નીકળે કે તરત તેને માંરી નાખવો. પરંતુ દાઉદની પત્ની મીખાલે તેને ચેતવ્યો, “જો આજે રાત્રે તું નાસી નહિ જાય તો કાલે સવારે નણ્ી તું મૃત્યુ પામશે.”
11Saul sent messengers to David's house, to watch him, and to kill him in the morning: and Michal, David's wife, told him, saying, If you don't save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be slain.
12મીખાલે દાઉદને એક બારીમાંથી નીચે ઉતાર્યો અને તે ભાગી ગયો અને બચી ગયો.
12So Michal let David down through the window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
13પદ્ધી મીખાલે કુળદેવતાની મૂર્તિ લઈને પથારીમાં મુકી, તેને કપડા વડે ઢાંકી દીધી, પદ્ધી તેને બકરાંના વાળ તેના માંથા પર નાખી દીધાં.
13Michal took the teraphim, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair at the head of it, and covered it with the clothes.
14જયારે શાઉલના માણસો દાઉદને પઢડવા આવ્યા, ત્યારે મીખાલે કહ્યું, “એ બિમાંર છે.”
14When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.
15પણ શાઉલે એ લોકોને દાઉદને નજરો નજર જોવા પાછા મોકલ્યા અને કહ્યું, “તેને પથારી સહિત અહીં ઉપૅંડી લાવો એટલે હું તેને માંરી નાખું.”
15Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.
16શાઉલના મૅંણસો અંદર ગયા, અને જોયું તો પથારીમાં કૂળદેવતાની મૂર્તિ માંત્ર હતી.
16When the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats' hair at the head of it.
17એટલે શાઉલે મીખાલને કહ્યું, “માંરા શત્રુને ભાગી જવા દઇને, તેઁ મને શા માંટે છેતર્યો”મીખાલે શાઉલને જવાબ આપ્યો, “દાઉદે એમ કહ્યું કે, “જો ભાગી જવામાં હું તેની મદદ નહિ કરું તો તે મને માંરી નાખશે.”
17Saul said to Michal, Why have you deceived me thus, and let my enemy go, so that he is escaped? Michal answered Saul, He said to me, Let me go; why should I kill you?
18આમ દાઉદ ભાગીને રામાંમાં શમુએલ પાસે ગયો અને શાઉલે તેને જે બધું કર્ચું તે કહ્યું. પદ્ધી દાઉદ અને શમુએલ નાયોથ જઈને ત્યાં રહ્યાં.
18Now David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. He and Samuel went and lived in Naioth.
19શાઉલને સમાંચાર મળ્યા કે, દાઉદ રામાં ખાતે આવેલા નાયોથમાં છે,
19It was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.
20તેથી શાઉલે તેના મૅંણસો દાઉદને પઢડવા માંટે મોકલ્યા. તેમણે ત્યાં કેટલાક પ્રબોધકોને તેમના આગેવાન શમુએલ સૅંથે પ્રબોધ કરતા જોયા. શાઉલના માણસોમાં દેવના આત્માંનો સંચાર થયો અને તેઓ પણ પ્રબોધ કરવા લાગ્યા.
20Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came on the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
21જયારે શાઉલને ખબર પડી કે શું બન્યું હતું ત્યારે તેણે વધારે માણસોને દાઉદને પઢડવા માંટે મોકલ્યા, અને તેઓમાં પણ દેવના આત્માંનો સંચાર થયો અને તેઓ પણ પ્રબોધ કરવા લાગ્યા તેથી તેણે ત્રીજી વાર બીજા મૅંણસોને મોકલ્યા તો તેમની પણ એ જ હાલત થઈ અને તેઓ પ્રબોધ કરવા લાગ્યાં.
21When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.
22આખરે તે પોતે રામાં જવા નીકળ્યો, અને સેખુમાંના મોટા કૂવા નધ્ક આવીને તેણે પૂછયું, “શમુએલ અને દાઉદ કયાં છે?”લોકોએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “તેઓ તો રામાં ખાતે નાયોથમાં છે.”
22Then went he also to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? One said, Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.
23પરંતુ તે ત્યાં જતો હતો ત્યારે તેનામાં પણ દેવના આત્માંનો સંચાર થયો અને તે પણ નાયોથ સધી પ્રબોધ કરતો ગયો.
23He went there to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God came on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
24શાઉલ ત્યાં ગયો, પોતાનાં વસ્ત્રો કાઢી નાખ્યાં અને શમુએલની સામે પ્રબોધ કર્યો. એ ત્યાં આખો દિવસ અને રાત નવસ્ત્રો જ પડી રહ્યો.આથી લોકો કહેવા લાગ્યાં, “શાઉલ પણ પ્રબોધક થઈ ગયો કે શું?”
24He also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"
